I used to have a couple of the books because It was impressive, they documented amazing feats. Then they took out like half of them and replaced them with wierdass "talents" or wierd niche things nobody would rhink to do that many could learn within 6 months to a year. I could train 12+ dogs to do the same thing. Some if them like it! Srsly, like it used to be having a record was something you were almost BORN with, or some borderline unhealthy trait that breeds impressive feats. Now people are making stupid crap up. Ruins it. Bring back things like the literal biggest dick, or sword swallowing. Something thats actually really impresisve. Imagine almost dying for a "World Record" only to have it removed for some reason without thought for what you went through.

I swear it's like 1/3 of these records are actually impressive feats that anyone can do if they put their mind and will to it. Another 1/3 is so ultra specific that it's clear that they just wanna get an easy world record and the other 1/3 is like impossible to beat, let alone accomplish somewhat, unless you're the record holder.
The first time I saw that plasma sabre turn on I actually cried a lil bit. I didn't think I'd ever see an actual retractable "blade" weapon like a lightsaber in my lifetime. It's simply amazing how much pop culture science fiction impacts real-world invention.

I hope he knows that the Guinness Book of World Records is actually something people buy into. I mean the record is legit, they test to make sure you do what you claim, and they don't really just accept any record but ultimately you buy your chance at a record, so if you can make something specific up (and from what I understand they can help you) you can find a record to make or break.

I got my start ages ago with Kidrobot Dunnys and then moved into collecting one off Japanese Resin Kaiju figures and lowbrow art. I do have a few funko's and I agree that they're a perfect starting point for a new collector.
