My husband and I have 5 children. When they were young Santa only brought one special gift and filled the stockings. Mom and dad bought everything else. It made the Santa tradition more believable and less greedy. We also went to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and had homemade lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner.
I love this list, and it especially makes me emotional that I get to incorporate some of these this year with our three year old since we will be in our first home right before Christmas! 🥹 A sweet little tradition that we do is open one present each on Christmas Eve!
I loved your traditions mostly I love that you love them . We still keep Our traditions even though we are much older. In keeping them you think of Christmas’ s past and the loving memories of those we’ve lost laugh , cry and make new memories. My favorite of your traditions is snuggling in bed and thinking of Jesus . When I Was a little girl our Sunday school teacher said to us when you wake up on Christmas morning say Happy Birthday Jesus and I’ve done it every Christmas since. I always watch a movie about Jesus or the chosen now late Christmas Eve after celebrating with family all day. I never lose sight of what Christmas is . I still have my children’s Christmas books and put them on my coffee table in the living room . My two boys are now 32 and 36 and I’ll sit there alone with the Christmas lights on and a cup of coffee and read all the books missing my two little boys and remembering those cozy loving times . I still hang there Christmas stockings and put out things they made when they were little. Makes them happy to see them. Enjoy every moment because they grow up faster than fast. Have a beautiful blessed day 🙏🕊💕🎄
This is wonderful! I’m currently pregnant with twins, so this is the last Christmas I have alone with my husband. I am so excited to start implementing Christmas traditions for my little family. ☺️
Allison! You would LOVE the advent blocks from goodkind. They would probably be best when Wells turns 3. But essentially they incorporated wooden blocks with a daily devotional for the whole family. We can’t wait to do it this year and I ordered an advent candle to light each night while we do our Bible study together.
Allison you’re such an amazing person. You have the biggest heart. I have been watching your videos for the past few years maybe four now and I just can’t express to you the impact you have had on my life. Your heart is so big and you are just the sweetest kindest person. The end of this video had me crying because it is just so true. Thank you for sharing your life your ideas and your kindness with the world. We are truly all blessed to have you. ❤
Hello from Alsace Allison ! That’s so special that you have such a mug in your collection !! Here Christmas (and especially Christmas village/market) is so beautiful, I love going to every that I can ! Hope you can visit one day 🥰 Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and wish you and your family a beautiful Christmas period 🫶🏼
A tradition that is common in the Midwest (and I originatessomewhere in Europe) is having St Nicholas come on his feast day (Dec 6th) and leave a little goody! For my family that was always when we got our stockings filled, but there’s also a tradition to leave your shoes out overnight and St Nick would leave an orange or a little piece of candy in our shoes 😋🍊 The orange seems fitting for a Floridian!
Yes, we have this in Romania too! Children have to clean their shoes on the night of Dec 5th and leave them near the front door or by the window. The good kids receive candy, chocolate, oranges, nuts, maybe even a little toy. The kids that were naughty receive a stick (which btw are very beautifully decorated, so you can even use them as holiday decorations).
with your sourdough starter, you could make sourdough granola for your neighbors. it is unique and oh so yummy! i like to add dried cranberries and pecans to mine. yummy to snack on alone or add to yogurt, oatmeal,....
Love Christmas traditions so much! Some of mine are watching the Nutcracker (either ballet or movie), visiting a Christmas market, baking chocolate babka, decorating a gingerbread house/train, going to a Christmas carol concert. I really want to buy a beautiful wooden advent calendar to use for activities, and get an Elf on the Shelf. I also want to start building a Christmas village, I ordered a starting piece and I want to keep adding one each year. 💖
We play white Elephant Bingo when we are done opening gifts. There are no small children anymore , they are teenagers .So they all enjoy this and it’s fun to see who gets the white elephant gift. Happy Holidays and I love your videos and I am 79 years old, still young at heart.🎉❤
I don’t always comment but I love your videos! You are so sweet and I love your ideas!!! I love your fall drink episode too! I have to try those too 🎉🎉🎉 Happy thanksgiving 🍁🦃
So excited to see all your holiday traditions unfold in the coming years! One of my absolute favorite holiday traditions is we go to see the nutcracker ballet from the ballet studio I used to dance at as a little girl. It is truly so special and doesn’t feel like Christmas without it!
The past couple years we’ve started dehydrating orange and grapefruit slices to add to garland or use as ornaments and it adds such a special, classic Floridian Christmas cheer to our home🥰🍊 Bonus: when the light catches them they look just like beautiful stained glass😍
Holiday traditions are so fun! My kids, late 20’s now, still love them! You have so many delightful ideas Allison! The wrapping of books I love for my future grandkids one day as we still have all the children’s Christmas picture books! Many moons ago when our kids were little, a friend gifted me a beautiful party light peppermint snowball candle…that year we packed it away in Christmas box after the holidays. My kids love that giant snowball!! Each year our kids were always so excited to get the Christmas boxes down! As we opened the box the following year, both of my children squealed in delight not only seeing the beginnings of Christmas with our eyes, but now the smell of Christmas joined us too! The candle made everything (the Christmas books, the stockings, etc) smell like Christmas. Thank you your joy-filled mindset and inspirations… you have a special way of bringing back my youthful excitement and energies!
Can you please do a video on where you like to shop for clothes? Maybe share your closet etc. I love your outfits and would love to know where you like to shop.
One of the best memories I have from Christmas was when we had a stretch of really lean years financially and our family instituted the KMart special shopping tradition. We set a limit for each person to spend total. Then, we all went to KMart one day and searched for items that were $15 or less. We came home and took turns going out of the room while the other family members talked about which items they were going to buy from the list. Then, armed with cash, we went back to the store another day and made a game out of trying to shop the store without getting caught by the other family members. We got some pretty silly gifts out of it and a lot of laughs, but it was sooo sooo fun! Another thing we’ve done with our youth group is to take $20 each and go somewhere like a mall and just find ways to give it away-Pay for someone’s snack in line, or whatever. Then we’d go out for ice cream and talk about the experience of giving money away. So memorable.
I love these! The kmart idea sounds so fun! I know a lot of families will be finding it tough this year, so hopefully they see your comment and give it a go!
Loving your cute mug!! I’m from Colmar France ✨ and actually colmar is the second biggest city of the region Alsace (and Bretzels are alsacien). It’s very big and the Christmas markets are known all around the world, especially in China ! We are kind of proud of the international aspect of the city 🥰
I loved this so much Allison! It's our second Christmas with our baby, she just turned one. I'm having fun dreaming of the traditions we'll enjoy as a family as she grows up. Hope everyone has a super magical season!
Wanted to let you know my son and I have loved watching your videos! He’s 6 weeks this weekend, we’ve spent alot of time on your channel during sleepless nights bc your videos are so calming. Hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays with your little one ❤️
I did the advent calendar with books this year but started in August, 24 weeks before Christmas. I did one book/week. It is fun ❤️😊 "Read one book with a buterfly on the cover" "Read a book with blue covers"
I can’t wait to try this hot chocolate recipe!! I am a huge traditions person and can’t describe the excitement I feel to do Christmas traditions with my children!! I have a young baby close in age to your son and a 2yo, I can’t wait to start our Christmas celebrations together!! First on the agenda is decorating the Christmas tree together this weekend 🥰 And I did the reindeer food too, we had a bag of oatmeal and glitter that we’d sprinkle so the reindeer could find our house :)
Funny you should mention grinchmas at universal! We are about to go for our 4th annual trip to Watch the stage show, meet earl the squirrel, and watch the macys Christmas parade! It’s our main tradition since my daughter was born. We also cooked a Grinch themed Christmas dinner last year complete with a roast beast!
I love so many of these ideas! Thank you for the inspiration. For Advent this year, we're trying out the book "All Creation Waits" by Gayle Boss, and each day of December you read a page about how a different animal prepares for Winter. I think it'd be so sweet to make felt or clay ornaments of each of the animals, and create a tradition where you read the devotional for that day, then put that animal's ornament on your tree.
Good morning, Allison! I was so excited to see a video uploaded from you so I can watch it while looking for Apple Pie recipes to bake for Thanksgiving tomorrow. This is my second time going to make one after last year was a disaster, and I'm willing to try again this year. Also, these hot chocolate recipes are so creative and look delicious! 😋
Great ideas. My daughter who is a single parent doesn’t have gifts from Santa because she said she doesn’t want him to get the credit for the gifts. He only brings the stocking stuffers. And also, on Halloween they can change all the candy in for a gift from the gift fairy or the switch witch that is left out on the front porch.
What great ideas. Your hot chocolate sounds and looked delicious. We exchange a new book on Christmas Eve and then spend the evening reading, drinking hot chocolate and have Christmas music playing in the background.
Your hot coco looks so gooood :)))) when i make mine, i do ½ c of milk and ½C of bone broth and 2 table spoons of cocoa and sweeten as you want with honey... sooooo good and a bit healthy with the bone broth.. and you can't even taste the broth ❤😊
I just love all your mugs, they are so cute. I actually went out looking for some cool mugs like your, I found two Christmas themed that I really like. I have to try making your hot chocolate. You always have such great ideas. like your traditions. I would sprinkle oat meal in the yard too. such fun.
Loved your ideas Allison ❤🎄🎀 Happy Thanksgiving ❤🦃 I'm also obsessed with your mugs! You find the best ones! 😍 Your hot cocoa recipe looks absolutely delicious 🍫
I love this! Thank you for sharing! I’d love to know where you purchased the embroidered Christmas pjs for you and Brandon! Could you share the source?
Always a joy to see you on UA-cam! THANK YOU for investing so much time & effort and creating such meaningful content! Sweet hearts like you make this earth a better place for sure ❤ Your vlogs are so genuine and pure! Whenever I watch your videos it always feels like home 🫶🤍
Forgive me totally off topic. You look so much like A entertainer, singer I love Mariah Carey not all the time but today for sure. Thank you for sharing you are so good at what you do and you make it all so very enjoyable💖
Such great ideas! Start reading Luke on December 1st by Christmas Eve you have read Luke and life of Jesus. Make a handprint orantment of baby for all grandparents this year. Just like with Grinch movie we do same thing with lot of the movies. Polar Express is our favorite. Don’t forget Elf on shelf lol. Let kids know true meaning of Christmas, but also let them have the joy of Santa. They grow out of it so fast. Enjoy every moment of magic you can!
it’s wild how no one talks about Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki even though it completely shifts how you see things, but I guess not everyone is ready
Alison, my children are grown and when they were children on Christmas Eve, I would prepare snack foods for the entire day of Christmas Day. My children did not want to sit down to a regular dinner so I would have snacks or I’d have breakfast items first and then for lunch and dinner we had snack foods which were nutritious And I would cook all day long until about midnight and my husband and I we played Santa Claus of course the children had gifts from us, but we played Santa Claus and we would wrap the gifts or we would take everything out of the boxes set it up like Santa Claus had come down the chimney and set up everything Under the Christmas tree and Santa would always leave a note for each child saying Jesus loves you. happy birthday Jesus and I would write those notes and change my handwriting and our children loved it and then on Christmas day they would get up and realize Santa had been in the house and set up all the toys for them. Of course we had to assemble some things which was all right. We would most likely get into the bed about 230 or 3 AM And of course the children would get up early and we would get up but we would all nap during the day also another tradition we had was to read the Christmas story from the Bible and then before the children got up, we would hide the people and animals in the nativity scene and they all had to find one and put it back in that nativity scene before they could play with the things that Santa had left under the tree and open the gifts frommom and dad. These were fun, memories and treasured memories and my children are grown and have children of their own now and they tell the stories and share that memory you have so much to look forward to with well and then other children that you will have and make new traditions every year and your children will always always love it.
Lol I was so confused until I saw the photo she added. She meant “stop motion” like Rudolph, little drummer boy & frosty. Which are puppets! Not clay 😉
Hello Allison, I know where your beautiful red cape came from. The La Boutique is my son’s families Boutique located in Sherwood Plaza in Spring Hill Fl. They have absolutely stunning clothing and accessories as I’ve had the pleasure of owning a few through the many years they have been in business. Aunt Cheryl would love this story and I will share it with her. Yes they are a high end boutique but the quality is amazing! I had a good laugh seeing this thanks. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVE
We always had our kids donate a few old toys at Christmas. They also received three gifts from Santa. Because Jesus got three gifts in order to connect the true meaning of chroistmas.
This is the like button for the piece of chocolate stuck in my teeth for the majority of this video…🫣🍫😂
Aw lol I didn't even notice ❤😂
I didn’t even notice lol
I didn’t notice either! 😂
I didn’t even notice
Didn’t notice! But where did you get that adorable quilted stocking???
My husband and I have 5 children. When they were young Santa only brought one special gift and filled the stockings. Mom and dad bought everything else. You've got to do a salt dough footprint ornament with your son this year! Then forever, you can see how tiny his feet were that first Christmas! ❤
Such cute ideas ☺️ this is our first year doing an activity advent calendar for our kids and I’m so giddy thinking about all the days of December 🎄💕

I took my son shopping to select an ornament each year. Now as a young adult he has ornaments for his tree in his home.
What great ideas.

can’t believe this is what people focus on instead of reading something like Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, maybe that’s why so little ever changes

Lol I was so confused until I saw the photo she added. She meant “stop motion” like Rudolph, little drummer boy & frosty. Which are puppets! Not clay 😉
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Does somebody know how tall Allison is?
if this resonates with you, you owe it to yourself to read Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, but maybe it’s not for everyone
not saying this isn’t interesting, but books like Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki make this look like child’s play
this is good, but if you haven’t read Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, you’re only seeing part of the picture
Davie and Goliath!
😍😍😍😍😍😍🥰🌹
funny how people spend so much time on this stuff but ignore books like Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki that actually explain what’s going on
you forgot to add the recipe for the hot cocoa 😬

Atleast this is the only La Boutique I am aware of. You scored either way as the piece shows quality. God Bless!
I love this story! The wonder of the internet. ❤
We always had our kids donate a few old toys at Christmas. They also received three gifts from Santa. Because Jesus got three gifts in order to connect the true meaning of chroistmas.
Allison a disclaimer about santa for little ears would be helpful next time!!
