She was born gifted. Her small height and long legs allowed for a compressed rib cage that gave her the force to sing in a way that has YET to be matched. There’s no doubt she was born to be the best singer in the world!!!!
Zoltan Korda I happen to live just about 15 minutes away from where she was buried outside NYC and I left some flowers in 2014, 45 years to the day since she passed. I got all emotional because she is in a mausoleum and it made me think of my grandmother's grave, and it was she who introduced me to Judy and the old standards. I had no idea she was buried in the NYC Tri-State Area.
Every single time I listen to this is like the first time; the last few notes send chills down by back. It's so powerful I bet even Judy can hear it, wherever she is.
Tarvin Lit Most? All. It would be interesting to hear this auto tuned. Might break the speakers from the power. I heard a handsome young man who couldn’t sing listen to himself without auto tune, and to his credit, admit it was terrible. At least he was cute.....but what is Taylor Swift’s excuse?
@@michaelheath5615 If she wrote any good songs, I would agree with you. I’ve mostly heard schoolyard playground sing-song, chanting songs. To be fair, I’ve only heard a smattering of her work, so maybe it’s just the bad songs that became popular? Maybe there are some hidden gems there? Also on the positive side, I’ve heard heard of some nice things she has done, so she may be a very nice person? ….and finally on the positive side, I’m guessing you are a Judy fan, too, so we can agree on what a great singer Judy was. 🙂
After more then 65 years of following this most remarkable woman I can still find new amazing peaks to her outstanding talents that dazzle the senses .She was,and still is one of a kind. Thank you Judy Always Mike G
I'm sure everyone knows that this was when she was filming A.S.I.B.. She was so good at laughing at herself. 4'11" and a voice as powerful as an earthquake. She died 51 years ago, and her admirers continue to grow.
unbelievable talent.....and dancing ...Geene Kelly said that Judy could watch it once and do that dance to perfection. A great voice that will live forever in film and records. little gift from God.
Her voice was the greatest musical instrument! She really was the h Greatest belter around that never lost quality because of the sheer strength of her vocal power. Some people who call themselves singers today think because they can hit a higher note. But can they sing entire songs in that high of an octave? Judy at times, might not be in great voice but she was always on pitch and in tune. Garland had God given talent. She still moves and astonishes listeners from all age groups.
Wow!!! That laugh! These powerful take after takes! That last long note is legendary! ZING went the strings of my heart for Miss Judy Garland! Miss Electricity! Wow. I just can't stop marveling how dynamic this woman's voice is. To hear her laughter is pure heaven.
That note at the end is the one that really gets me. Boy could she project her voice. I sing Jolson medleys with my duo and can let this one rip too. She's my total inspiration ❤
Chills!!! I have chills. The power just blows me away every time, especially on that last note. I could listen to her laugh forever. Thank you for posting this. It means a great deal to us die hard Garland fans. We can never get enough of her. Keep them coming. With today's music the way it is, we need as much Judy Garland as we can get. I was totally born in the wrong generation. I'm turning 47 in 3 days. Should have been born in 1922.
+RivaRidge'72 People always feel the past was a better time, but problems existed then as they do now. 'good old days' really don't exist, people in the 20's looked back at the 'Gay Nineties'. Now is the best time to live, because now is the only time one can live, so make the best of it.
***** 1922 was great if you were wealthy, WASPY and healthy. Fraud and government control was rampant, ex. Prohibition, a great chunk of politicians were KKK members, and if you were black you weren't considered worthy of human respect. How about all the money made by chemical companies to create poison gas for WWI. This is all factual, im not just giving my opinion aside from what I learned from oral histories from the people who lived in pre-war America.
That BIG BELTING ending is the ringtone I use when I have an important call I don't want to miss. Works every time....although it has been known to startle people :-) Thanks for posting these all together. Whenever I want to show the sheer power of Judy's voice to someone that only knows her as Dorothy, I use this clip.
I don't think this was done at Capitol. This sounds more like the original prerecording soundtrack sessions at MGM. But your point about the lively ambience is well taken. Nowadays vocals are far too often done in a tiny, dead booth with the mic 1" away. Yuck.
Oh... my... goodness..... no words. How can I love Judy Garland even more? I just listen to another undiscovered recording and I can only describe her as a super nova of human talent. But my question is how do you make a ringtone out of the last note?
Jasper7182009 Any chance you can provide a link to the other recording you listened to? My husband is/was a recording engineer. This is a really cool perspective for me to hear Judy from.
the second take is very good - not sure why the third one was stopped - love the laughing. The recording mikes give Judy a rougher sound - that's Warner Bros. for you. Only on "It's a new world" do you hear a softer focus - Garland was stunning in the movie - but if you want to hear superior film recording check out "Friendly Star" or any other song from MGM's "Summer Stock"
Yeah, it's a big, beautiful voice. Huge, rich and satisfying. But that's just for starters. It's somehow also deeply interestning. There are strange anomalous things going on in it that capture the imagination somehow. I can never get over the fascination of her sound. And then there's the musicality , the theatracality, the mastery of the art form known as popular song. She had it ALL!
Micheline Lalonde what did you mean a “miss”? She was laughing pretty hard.. I heard they used to put “fart” sounds in her music because it would make her laugh hysterically.
Unbelievable voice!
Unbelievable power!
Unbelievable Woman!
Our Judy.❤️
Thanks for posting!

The world has never been quite the same since she left us on that Sunday, June 22, 1969. I miss her voice, her laughter and her gifted repartee.

@@mattmammone2338 not anymore, she's been moved to LA
In case anyone ever has to ask why she is a legend....

Garland's rehearsal is better than the final version of most singing artists.
Tarvin Lit It's so true

@@stevers62 Well, she actually writes all her songs...that's not worth nothing, is it?

This sounds more like an actual recording session than a rehearsal. So Judy's bad takes are better than many singers' good takes.

You would have been born just in time for the great depression followed by world war two. Fun times indeed.

Now, this lady was a real entertainer!!!!!!!!!!! WOW that last note was amazing,
Just amazing. This shows the real Judy, full of talent and fun.
Holy crap that last note fromnowhere!
rhea mangles from a teeny, tiny woman!
From a teeny, tiny woman.
That was so wonderful to hear.her ability to sing was truly something special what an absolute legend.
She is so professional in these takes!! Such hard work, but what a wonderful product in the end ! This is great.
I love you forever Judy!!!
Forever
🎹 Wow! Judy could keep belting them out! Still the greatest of them all. 🎹
A force of nature
judy was one of the greatest entertainers that ever walked this earth !!!
You mean THE GREATEST don't you?
The greatest ENTERTAINER, BAR NONE.
Nobody seems to sing with such a force , soul , musicality and belting.
This is beautifully haunting.
if you listen carefully you can hear her voice echoing off the walls
Capital studios in California where many people made wonderful music!

Yes, as big and as great as this “mid-1950s” voice was, Friendly Star is in my TOP 10 list of her recordings.
THAT is how its done!
Wooow! Speechless! Love her laugh😃😃😃 just Wonderful ❤❤❤❤
Bloody fantastic!
wow! Just...wow!
WOW..! JUDY, YOU WERE GREAT!!!
i literally love this woman what a LEGEND
great voice... wonderful woman!

HOW IS THAT LAST NOTE EVEN POSSIBLE
1:10 almost made me cry it’s so powerful
There is no way to describe this recording, much of it is acapella.
Brilliant
What a voice!
She kills it from 2:01 to 2:35
thanks.
WOW!
There aren't any words, are there?
She mkes easy to sing like that which is not what a gift omg
Laughter compares to the singing.
W O W
I wonder exactly what she was laughing at.
Wow, she died 50 years ago today.
Do we know what made her laugh so hard???😂
Abrielle Horvath I think she laughed because she felt she’d had a “miss.”
Micheline Lalonde what did you mean a “miss”? She was laughing pretty hard.. I heard they used to put “fart” sounds in her music because it would make her laugh hysterically.
I think she was expecting Ray Heindorf to give her a cue to come in and he didn’t and she missed it and just totally lost it.
Just a fact, this was recorded on June 14, 1954, She also recorded “Black Bottom” From the movie the same day.
this is amazing 🤩 i love how professional she gets after she laughs and they try to continue and she said come on let’s go! lol the best ! 💕
