You are kind of wrong on how hot a house fire can be. After 15 yrs on a local fire department I have seen a lot of gold and silver fully melted. I have seen rifle barrels melted. One thing we did learn about this subject is to keep it as much as possible off the ground, maybe 2 ft. A true fire safe is only good for 4 hours before it starts acting like a oven.
Yeah, I could have elaborated on that. I think I have in the past. Worst case, though, the metal content is still there. I hadn’t heard 2’ before. I have a few about 6” off for venting with an added assumption that a basement is going to fill with water in a fire.
@@DrSchor If you are asking about the one that starts with a S , total loss of data. You are better off with a 70 yr old safe and Kevlar or Nomex bags.
Yes but I would imagine these were scenarios where the metals were out in the open. Not encased in a TL30 fire rated 2hrs + Pelican case… most cheap gun safes from big name stores will fail the fire test…

My buddy lost his house to a fire 2 months ago. Manufactured home on his family ranch went up and within 15 minutes the entire structure was gone. He had several thousand dollars cash and his wife's family's jewelry buried 2 feet or so about 20-ish feet away, and lost everything in it. I'm not sure what the container was, but at 20ft away and 2ft under ground, who would've ever thought THAT wouldn't have been enough? Cash carbonized to essentially trash which isn't all that surprising (although yes, you can send the scraps to the bank and the Fed will replace some non-100 percentage), but the heirloom gold jewelry melted beyond recovery - that was shocking. No 2 house fires are the same and can absolutely burn hotter than people think. Don't assume that a fire-rated safe will protect everything in pristine condition... most especially especially if it's indoors, at a centralized location with lots of "fuel" around it that can prolong the blaze beyond the "1200 deg for 90-minutes" (or whatever the rating is). It might "survive" inside the safe but still be damaged beyond real value, or it might just get destroyed anyway. Cautionary tales are everywhere.
I found this tip somewhere regarding extending the fire protection in your safe. Put in a can of water, whatever size you want, and cover the opening on top with painters tape. Water boils at 100 centigrade at seal level (212 F). If the temp in the safe hits that, the tape blows off from the boiling water and so you have a continuous mist of water vapor inside the safe. This will hold the internal temperature inside the safe steady until the water completely evaporates. Or so I am told. Comments welcome.
I'm going to order a couple of those firebags. Thanks for the idea to fill a hole in my preps. :-) I use Trebleet SSD cases for my data storage. You still use those big mechanical drives?

Nine years ago, my youngest son ran into our room at 2 in the morning and yelled the house was on fire, which it was. I quickly put on some jeans and boots to go outside and try to contain the fire in the roof of the garage with a garden hose. It was pointless. My oldest son was the smart one. He grabbed everyone's wallet and all the car keys on the way out. The house was destroyed mostly by heat, smoke, and water from the fire fighters. Only about 5% of the house was actually burned up. My large gun safe held up well, although it was not directly in the fire. The closest flame was about 2 feet away in the ceiling above the safe. I learned you can lose 30 years worth of stuff in 5 hours. We were all fine and had insurance to cover almost everything. Never thought something like that would ever happen to me.

If u can’t break change, I simply grab more goods to even it out.
@@JBeck556 Being in a unique position of the difficulty of cash being literally flown in and not trucked or shipped in, and also how banks and retail is in a crisis mode, I can professionally tell you to NOT stack 100s or 50s. $1,000 USD is more than enough - 32 20s, 30 10s, 12 5s. This mix will get under any radar and keep good relationships with any retail type. Everyone and his sister has 100s, and it's totally annoying. If you need more, you might be a bit paranoid.
"You must leave now take what you need you think will last... What ever you wish to keep you'd better grab it fast... "
Is silver secure?
thanks for cheering me up.... Stop Cheering Me UP !
😄
Double stamp is best stamp.
Agreed.
Love your videos, but I think you underestimate how hot house fires can get, sir!
Some beautiful perth mint coins you have there. I wonder if you purchased the new dragon and coi ( I'm sure you did 😜 )
Talking about it in the pinned post. Cheers!
Can you make a video explaining the kanesis card?
Goldbacks for transactions 💯
Nice pelican case. 👍
It is easy to see that you appreciate quality and practical items! might I suggest a Refuge Medical Supply, First aid kit! because I want you and your family to be here for a long time Sir! Great video
Looks like good stuff. Thanks!
@@2is1gold Yes Sir! Made in America and good people!
Can confirm on the Refuge Medical IFAKS. Many good ones.
PLEASE tell me the name of that carry case with the foam lining. Where can I get those? Thank you so much. Big fan of the channel.
What model is it?
Sorry I just saw this in your list.
I wonder if a TL30 or TL30x6 bolted to the foundation would survive a powerful tornado?…they can range from 1200-5000lb depending on the size…pelican cases or fireproof / waterproof cases within the TL30 is super prudent it will keep OUT the smoke and water from a fire being put out or from storm flooding. I love discussing scenarios and love vault discussions. Great topic!
It would be a scary projectile if not!
Yeah true!
Double-stamp folding gun? Fancy!
Being a Firefighter and a person that has worked in emergency services his for close to 40 years I seen people lose everything they have worked for. Too many times. I think everyone should have a fire safe and go bag.
I have a tiny fraction of your experience and I’m convinced. Cheers!
As a huge gear nerd, I loved this video!
✊
Very good info. I have never considered a solar charged battery pack. Thanks!
Where can you buy those cases?
Cases are here: amzn.to/3r6HtUd
@@2is1gold Out of stock. You bought them all 😀
I have a plan sorta like that, but with a much smaller Pelican case.
For a long time I thought 3 oz was the number. Maybe be still do.
Have you heard of Tangem Wallet? I hear they’re easier to use than a Ledger. Might get one to see how I like it.
Worth trying. Ledgers are really pretty terrible. I've just gotten used to them.
I mean 4:48 there are less Marcus pieces than there are people…
I've had a go bag of sorts prepared for a long time. It's probably not as cool as yours but it's pretty well set up. As someone who would rather set up my own cloud service than use one from a big tech company I kind of need to be a bit prepared just in case
🤜🤛
Great video, I think all of us guys think about our Jason Bourne bank safe deposit box and what we would keep inside. Keep up the hard work!
I need more passport colors! 😄
Is that a Clayton & Crume Duffle? I'm tempted... Re the Pelican Cases, "Blue is for Bullion!"
Satchel and Page. Expensive , but they last forever.
