If this was like 10 years ago, maybe this makes some sense, but in 2024 there's no way JD doesn't start Week 1 and beyond

What does it mean to be ready? These QB's been playing all their lives, and Jayden is 24 years old. Only reason not to play him is the Commanders Coaching Staff think we have worse offensive line in professional football. #HTTC
Looking forward for him to start BUT if the coaches feel like he should sit and watch for a few games so be it. We want to get this right.
I do remember that the Washington coaches saying that Jayden Daniels was picking up the offense quicker than any of the QB's on the roster, so where is the reason to start Mariota that makes absolutely zero sense. JD5 learning starting week 1 on the job still gives you a better chance to win than Mariota most likely than not. JD5 has more tools in the toolbox at this point in Mariota's career but he is a great mentor and extra career coach if you want to call it that but that is a very important job to have and is more important than him starting a few games before JD5 goes out there to start.
If we start Mariota we are right back where we started
Starting anyone other than Jayden Daniel's week one is the silliest thing that I can think of. He's earned the right.
Last word on Sports …. 😂😂😂… he’s far ahead of where he’s suppose to be , and the interview with his QB coach, qb “prodigy “! This staff will not rush him, to much experience on this team , ain’t no rushing him! Said “JD”, is a football nerd! The consensus is he’s vary special!
A servant at the QB position , his work will show he’s a day 1 starter! AND JD will have every player fighting for him! When sum1 works like he does, watch them fight their ass off for him! WATCH!

If there were issues coming out about JD5 play, there might be some concern. But everything points to JD5 adjusting to NFL play. Training camp will give us a better picture, but MM isn't the answer. Maybe if we kept Brissett, but right now it's JD5's spot to lose. The schedule is tough, and oline isn't settled in my mind, but I trust the coaches and FO. Eight wins would be a good season for the roster we have now. In my mind, that means we won the games we were supposed to win. Being competitive while losing is way better than last year.
Every one thinks we don’t need Brandon Ayuk or another receiver we have one 1000 yard receiving weapon but yet this team has not been able to put up points. Let alone have good offense possessions.
It is not like people don't want ayuk. He gonna cost over 100mil. We already paying terry 80-90 mil how much cap can we spend on wrs?

We have done veteran experience before I think as a coach with 30 years coaching experience that JD should start in preseason games and go from there and I guarantee you won't look back from there
Everyone always points to B Wags as being the big leadership pick up this off-season, which he is no doubt, but A Eckler has been a huge leader coming into the offense.

QB's that sat out or played part-time in their first (or more) year in the NFL: Joe Theismann, Joe Montana (16 games, but only 23 pass attempts) Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Mark Rypien, Brett Favre, Trent Green, Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes (I'm sure there are more). Jalen hurts played in 15 games, but only threw 148 passes.
Give JD5 10 plays in the first game, 15 plays in the second game, and so on. Give him experience, but let him grow into the position as many successful QB's have had the chance to do.
Terry was 41st amongst receivers in TDs and 27th in yards while barely exlipsing 1,000 yards in 17 games. It's not Terry's fault because the QB play wasn't good and the play calling was horrible, but I think his ranking is fair. This yeah he'll jump into the top 15 and perhaps even the top 10 or 5. I hope he gets double digit TDs this year and go for over 1500 yards. That'll easily place him into the top 5. Time will tell.
If he's not ready week 1, who's to say he'll be ready week 2? I think the coaches are smart enough to dummy down the offense and lean on the running game and defense to get JD5 through any rough spots.
Let's see where this takes us because I do believe this can JD where need to go because JD will be week one starting QB

Marcus needs to sit back and relax. He hails from my state and I do love the guy. But looking at our schedule we got our work cut out for us. Almost every team minus the cowboys and the cardinals made good roster improvements.
Looking at AP/DQ moves, and lack of certain moves re-enforces what many pundits and articles have already stated. We do not plan to even TRY to contend this up coming season. They are looking to be more competitive yes. But the majority of the free agents brought in are on short term low cost contracts. Vets that can hammer into the younger, and rookie players to allow this season as a "trial" season while showing SOME improvement. With the lack of serious O Line, CB, Edge upgrades, it is apparent they really are going to take the long road and do it through the draft, while rolling over the max cap $$ to next season, heck even the year after.. If I were a betting man, I would bet on Allen, and or Payne getting traded before end of season for more draft capital. The front office will continue to trade/cut/replace our high paid players for draft capital until he believes they are "close". Then, and only then will they dare bring in any big contract guys. The hope is Hype, not true ability. I see us trading those 2 for draft and replacing them with newer, cheaper rooks. BA, Gilmore, even Backhtiari are pretty much pipe dreams this season. All that said, why WOULD he risk JD getting injured if we not even really "all in" or seriously trying. While I understand his vision, and the massive task he had, I do believe this will disenfranchise a lot of fans.

Every one in the comments saying that JD should start because we have done the vet QB situation and whatever reason JD should start. We have done the rookie QB situation more than experience with vet QBs. Every young QB we have brought in has not panned out.
Only losers franchises start a veteran over their 2nd overall pick. Seriously? You need to give him milage let him make mistakes and see what you have in him. Joshua rose in AZ was a bust they knew it by playing him
