Rescuing sea turtles

- Because of changing ocean temperatures, hundreds of sea turtles have been washing up almost dead onto New England beaches. And while local aquariums have been successful at nursing the majority of them back to health, they don't have room to care for all of them. That's where the volunteer pilots of the not-for-profit Turtles Fly Too have come to the rescue. Correspondent Lee Cowan reports on how these creatures, including the endangered Kemp's Ridley turtles, are being given a second chance.

This is a great segment. My 4th grade students learn about Ridley's Sea Turtles. I am going to use this video to show them the continuing efforts to help the Sea Turtles survive.
This brought tears to my eyes 😭 what are we doing to our planet? Is heartbreaking to see such a beautiful species dying or sick,thankfully there's still wonderful people helping them, a THANK YOU is not enough to let you know that you're appreciated and heroes of nature's needs, I know you going to get rewarded by the almighty for your kindness! ❤❤

I was lucky enough to be chosen to work in the sea turtle quarantine area as a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore with Cold-stunned Kemp’s Ridley’s and Green sea turtles this past winter. Getting to take part in their rehabilitation was one of the best experiences of my entire life.
How sweet it is! Tissue please, happy tears for humans being their best selves! Kudos to Turtles Fly Too!!

There was a documentary on sea turtles hospital in the south west coast of Turkey few years ago. I saw a few by the Mediterranean beach next to Kas. The documentary show a turtle head injured by fishing boat blades, it's surferd head injury that it forget to eat...😢 They manual feed the 🐢. A British lady self founded free motor blade guard for the local fisherman to prevent more injuries
Adorable video this one, hoping this cute action will help human beings ...live like turtles, two hundred years and more, they say, as humans we are the best living creatures on this planet but...we still have so much to learn from these aliens so close to us, l feel like, one of my previous lives l was a turtle. I fear nothing, the atomic bomb could fall on my shell, l feel like l can survive anything. I am the harmless creature ever seen, l hate nobody, l just love to chew crispy grass and lettuce, you can bet on it guys. From time to time I love to give indigestion big predators that dare to eat me, 😂😂😂😅😅😅, l hate sharks, if l can make them die, yeah, try to guess what a turtle lies in me. You can try and pull out, all your previous reincarnations guys, we do not live a single season, my biggest concern is, what kind of Neanderthal life we have to turn back in the next ages? The future is what we have to take good care about, you can bet on it

This was a huge thing when I was living in Florida back in the early 90's I remember certain times of the year people had to turn off the lights at their homes or condos so that the sea turtles can nest it was mainly the outside lights that had to be turned off. Also I remember certain areas of the beach on the gulf coast being closed off due the nests on the beaches. I also want to say that there was a sea turtle plus pelican rescue place in I think Indian rocks beach in Florida it was somewhere Between treasure island and madeira beach Florida I don;t know if they are still in operation but they were in the very early 90's I think between 90 and 92

You could always ask the Coast Guard to transport turtles. We have transported thousands in the past, sometimes hundreds on one flight. The aircraft are going flying anyway and the Ops Bosses, and most of the crew would rather transport turtles than bore holes in the sky any day of the week!!! Flights like this are already built in to the budget.

So many of these saved turtles... won't the same problem plague when they're finally released back into the ocean? Won't they stay in waters that remain warm for too long again, be victims of the waters turning cold and wash up on shore again? A greater percentage of turtles washing up on shore in future years?
I wish they explained why these turtles are failing to migrate, and maybe took a look at how that can be remedied. Otherwise, this will continue happening.
