Instead, they likely were more interested in creating an entertaining video.
That means having an interesting backdrop, as they chose, was as important as sound quality.
I, for one, enjoyed the backdrop because the whole time that I listened to their song; I imagined what it would be like to live in one of those high-rises.

The sounds of the city just add to the song.
When I saw the location I was a little worried about slow cars passing, but yeah, the sounds add an ambience without spoiling the recording. It really works as a live performance.
So much better than auto-tuned, over processed sound.

Absolutely fabulous. No studio, totally acoustic, and the background sounds just add to it. (Lesser performers might have made a face at that helicopter beat, but MS & RDC just smile and carry on.) Unassuming, beautiful playing, really tight singing. Not easy to do! Imho this is performance art at its best.

A double treat today finding the two duets by my two favorite female singer-songwriters on UA-cam these days. I get a sense that this song carries personal meaning to both, perhaps for similar reasons. They both covered it in the past, but they apparently didn't have much time to rehearse together and conditions weren't ideal. Still the result is very unique, and I hope for some more collaboration in the future on their original music.
