X4 was a pretty heavy and serious game as far as themes. The sense of urgency, and imminent life or death is present in each theme. As a kid, I never put too much thought into it, but this was definitely yhe darkest game of tge X franchise.
I say 5 and 6 are darker since lots of X4 can be avoided if Colonel wasn't such an asshole(seriously, blame him for ruining the image of Repliforce)
From X4 to the end of the Zero series the Megaman Franchise was at it's darkest.

X4 all the way to ZX Advent, really (poor Prometheus and Pandora, for instance). Though we did have some breaks like X8.
X5 literally has humanity nearly going extinct in the bad ending

Probably my favorite capsule theme right behind X1's. There's a sense of urgency with this capsule theme and I really like it!

Pretty late, but Dr. Light actually appears as a cyber elf in the Archie Megaman comics.
In my opinion Dr Light's hologram was the first cyber elf. Check out X5's endings, it materializes out of the capsules!
10/10 best Dr. Light theme in the entire Mega Man franchise.

Having just replayed this game all Repliforce wanted to do was move reploids to the moon to live in peace. That game raised a lot of questions. Fantastic game.

@@megapulsar9244 Yes, Sigma was playing 4th dimensional chess and manipulating Repliforce and the Maverick Hunters, pitting them against each other. And he didn't even need to use his virus to do it, all it took was some good ol' subterfuge.

This song makes me feel that the problem of the reploids fighting each other is because of humans.

Technically, Sigma does want to get rid of humans. So in a way you are right, the maverick war is sort of happened because Sigma's goal to annihilate humans.

@@mikoswhackgameandstuffvids480 While true, Repliforce and the accusations against them despite no proof of wrongdoing was entirely passed down by humans, and when Repliforce refuted these accusations humans wanted them destroyed, and had them labeled as Mavericks.

The darkest mmx series in the history of megaman. I mean, did anyone agree with the bloody cutscene that Double did? (Killing few reploids in gruesome way). It give chill in my spine seeing that bloody deaths in robot-themed game!

pretty much X4 through X6 were the darkest of all 8 games

X7 was pretty dark too. Poor ol’ papa Red. X8 was the biggest alleviation from the general darkness of the post-SNES era.
@@austinreed7343 to be fair that's because there wasn't much of a identity crisis for the heroes to overcome as compared to 4-7 but even then 8 was pretty solid in terms of characterization.
Not to mention the all out civil war between the mav hunters and reploforce which ended with reploforxe basixli eradicated and the maverick hunters name tarnished

The entire X series is dark, but in my opinion X4 and X5 got the darkest moment, because in X4 Military organization became maverick because of one sky lagoon incident which was orchestrated by sigma using magma dragoon, of course X and other maverick hunter would suspect repliforce when colonel refuses to disarm and quietly go to H.Q, but of course after that all hell broke loose, and Repliforce got annihilated. X5 was probably the darkest one, because of space colony incident many reploids and humans died remaining humans hid underground while capable reploids did their best to make earth habitable again, Sigma almost won this time, but when you think about it is scary if the same space colony would come crashing on our planet, most life would be destroyed and there would be very little humans left, that is quite scary to imagine. This is why I like these games so much, because developers were not affraid to show a devastating what if future scenario.

The former
With the riots going on now in late spring 2020, how can we come together as a species? Accountability is excepted from some but not all. How did it come to that? Because of the color of one's skin they are held to a different standard of responsibility. If there is to be a change for the better shouldn't there be equality in accountability? The events as of late dishearten me. This song captures my emotions.
