What a Barra! Well done Andy 😲 but as good as that fish was I really enjoyed seeing you use the electric outboard! Low noise no fumes no petrol container etc... and it got you around for the day - I want one 👍🙂

Hi Andy ! Excuse my English because I wrote to you from France ( Paris, so I'm French ) the family follows your adventures regularly and now you're famous ! ! ! You're UN-BE-LIE-VA-BLE ! ! ! You know what REAL LIFE IS ! I use to explore the French coast like you, but in a kayak, so I can't embark a lot of cooking equipment, just a small stove and a pan. I made an Indonesian trap for crab and shrimp, and of course I fish from the kayak. I cook with olive oil, garlic, coriander, lemon, and sometimes fresh cream. In France it'a absolutely forbidden to make fire on the beach even if no one is in the area, so I use a small gaz system for camping. The fishes has not the same taste of course...

That flathead was a bigger jump scare than most horror films! Great video Andy.
If the dry brine is too salty for your tastes just give it a quick rinse before cooking. Putting the fish in wet will absorb more smoke flavour as well!

I performed two of your recipes on a freshwater barra this morning. I did half as crumbed with a mayonaise and currypowder dip and the other was crushed up salt and vinigar chips as a cruming. I think it was amazing and so did the rest of my family. Thanks for the awsome content

Hey mate, a tip I have learned from watching Japanese sushi videos: when you bleed a fish, if you cut next to the tail through the backbone, as well as your usual spot near the heart, it helps to drain the blood properly and quickly. Think of it like pouring a bottle of water upside down. Now try it with a hole in the top so the air can escape. Huge difference. Give it a go! It works a treat. Gday from Tassie
That makes sense. I'd say it works best on pelagic fish with bigger arteries and veins. I'll try it for sure, cheers.

That big a Barra on 20lb leader is fantastic, they have a way of chaffing the line something bad. And yes that bone looks like it belongs to a sea turtle.

Another great adventure over loved the smoked Barra too, but just alarmed that you didn't choose to decide on safety first. I won't harp on but having been in a similar situation on the West side of Moreton Island and decided on a risky trip back to Brisbane in 30+knts I learnt my lesson. Yes, I got home safely but I always wear a PFD when on questionable waters in a small boat.
The flathead jump scare though. Got me good!

Cool vid like always Andy.. just back my self from Atlantic ocean. Stayed few days with few mates.. got about 40kg of cod.. had a few monsters on who broke my 30kg line or hooks after were strait like a nail hahaha.. was fun.
