Refining Selections In Affinity Photo

Traditional selections in programs like Adobe Photoshop often yield undesirable results when trying to separate elements from an image and/or subtract a background. Affinity Photo has found a very powerful way to refine selections with a set of sliders and brushes which allow you to export elements with little effort.
Subtracting elaborate pixels like hair or other similar textures is now completely possible with Affinity Photo. Watch as I guide you through my own process as well as talk about specific techniques when editing photos using selections.

Thanks for that great video. Try using "new layer" or "new layer with mask" because those two options use color decontamination where "mask" and "selection" don't.

HELP ON SEGMENT 02:47 THROUGH 08:44 I don't understand how to get the brush onto the image it keeps selecting for me to cut out! I also don't have the three dots of color on the left side of the Selective color you have. How do I place the three dots there you select? I have version 8.5 of Affinity photo. I also notice you've not selected the items for other items Background, Selective Color, Mask, rectangle yet you have a brush doing the task over the lion. I must be missing something please explain? Also, after following the steps how do you cut it out to put into another photo? FRUSTRATED PLEASE REPLY

The sound on this tape cuts out too often and this video should be fixed or trashed. By the second half the host speeds up the process so it is difficult to really learn anything. I suggest other Refine learning videos rather than this one!!!!
