Darimie Family is a nickname created from the original names of DDabong, Cherry, and Hobak. We are the Dalimie family!
The title of the weekend drama scheduled to air in Korea from the end of September is 'Darimie Family', so the kids were happy and said, "Isn't this our story?!?"
Darimie Family!! We made up a cute nickname.
The Darimies are three daughters who were born and raised in the US. We are writing a little travelogue about our time in Korea, our mom and dad's hometown, during the summer vacation of 2024. In fact, since we live in the US, my main purpose is to leave a trace of my American life so that I can look back on it as a memory, but I haven't finished writing about my trip to Korea.
The reason I hurriedly rented a car and rushed my schedule as soon as I arrived in Korea was because I had planned to go to Gyeongju with my family from June 1 to June 2. The biggest reason I visited Korea was because I wanted to show my family the pumpkin's face after it got hit by a rock.
Dalimie daddy vacation is for 3 weeks, so planning to return to the US in mid-June, but a week has already passed. Time flies so fast. If I spend time with my grandparents and aunts and uncles, I think summer vacation will be over soon~
For the Gyeongju trip, I decided to tour Gyeongju's cultural heritage, eat delicious food, and relax in a pool villa. I was actually most curious about the pool villa, but I have to see what I see! Since there is a check-in time, I'll go to Gyeongju Bomun Complex.
We left at 9 a.m. on June 1 and arrived in Gyeongju around 10:30. Since it's a Mini van, the whole family, including Darimie and grandparents, can ride.
The Gyeongju National Museum is also large, so I was wondering which route to take when I found the Children's Museum. Since it wasn't there when I was young, I searched online and made a reservation in advance.
Sparkling Silla, Heart-pounding Gyeongju
First, I went to the Hwarangdo spirit corner, which is said to be the most popular among children.
Loyalty, filial piety, god, and life are the spirits that were considered important in Hwarangdo. Before explaining Hwarangdo, which trains the body and mind, the children were more interested in the lottery. They got coins from the desk and turned the vending machine, and a ball came out. Ttabongi and Chaeri got coins and turned the vending machine. What kind of story did they come up with?
Chung: Sagunichung │ Be loyal to your country
Hyo: Sachinihyo │ Be filial to your parents
Shin: Gyowooisin │ Get along well with friends
Mu: Imjeonmutoe │ Once you start, don't give up
Saeng: Salsaengyutaek │ Don't throw away living things
The Gyeongju Children's Museum made cultural assets and history related to Silla and Gyeongju into easy play, so the children were interested. It was great that they used educational tools that stimulated children's curiosity and made it approachable.
Next, we also did a stamp tour. You get stamps at historical relics of Silla hidden throughout the children's museum, and when you collect them all, you complete one work. It's like a hidden picture game, and I think it gives children a sense of accomplishment in completing their own work.
Next, we went to see the locations of Silla's cultural assets while riding a virtual horse. First, Ttabongi and Chaeri colored and scanned it on the scanner machine, and Ttabongi and Chaeri's words appeared on the projection on the wall.
It was so amazing to see the words I made appear. Who would have thought to use the scanner to create content that children would like and combine it with cultural assets?
I wanted to stop by the Gyeongju National Museum, but I thought the children would be too young and not used to the weather, so I passed and went to the Seongdeokdaewang Shingong.
How many people would believe that the most beautiful sounding bell in the world is our country's bell It is the Emile bell, officially named Seongdeokdaewangjong (National Treasure).
Isn't it amazing that a large metal work of art created 1,200 years ago still exists? How many changes and wars have there been since then? Yet this bell has endured it all and remains with us.
