Omg I’m a cricket.. I never understood why I had to wait until I had enough time to clean or organize perfectly. It’s so bad that I don’t want anyone helping me either because they won’t do it “perfectly”.

I used to have this problem. But there comes a point when you are so darn tired to always have to be doing stuff. You have to Learn to let go and have someone help you. Or take baby steps and at least delegate some family members to help you with certain things. Now I get to rest a little bit and any help I get now I think of it as God sent:)

      This is hilarious!
Around twenty years ago, my son was around eight years old.
We were watching the classic TV show The Odd Couple.
Friends who are roommates and TOTAL opposites. Oscar is a mess and Felix is very fastidious.
My son turns to me and says,"Mommy, you're the perfect combination of Oscar and Felix."😂
Blew my mind that he noticed my perfectionist piles of stuff that needed to be organized the "right way."
The piles that I would get to "someday".
      The "RIGHT" day.
Jeeeez! I was my own worst enemy.
It took a few years but I'm so much better at organizing now.
      Thank you dear Cassandra❤

Cas- you are going to love this! I went to my 19 year old daughter and said "I just figured out why you have such a hard time putting away everything in my organizational systems, you are a butterfly and I am a cricket!" She was drinking and spit it out everywhere laughing. "What, Mom are you watching youtube again?!!!" I have struggled with my three kids and husband by constantly changing the systems and not understanding why it is so hard for them to use and I end up putting away everything. I am going to try to make the community area simple and visual and see if that helps. Love your videos!!

Same here! Cricket surrounded by butterflies at home. It's insane sometimes. I even have made the mistake to invite my husband and kids to go out so I can stay home and declutter and clean my way. I just enjoy the out of sight. My husband complains he and the kids don't have another way of doing things than my way. It's a struggle. I have gave in some but I feel I can't help myself. I used to even clean the floors by hand!!! When the cricket bug bites it bites!!
I don't know if all crickets are visual or usually with good memory to assign a home for every item and remember exactly where it is. What do y'all crickets think? Do you always find your stuff easily?

So there you go. We're filled with great ideas!!! But.... we're filled with great ideas. One after the other. Usually taking time away from implementing the previous idea. What is amazing to me is how much you do manage to accomplish, and I hope that I can follow your example and do the same! I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your videos, your organizing, your creativity, and of course, your rants. Keep up the good work, and let me know if you find the key to managing our CBS.

oh, Cass I've been WAITING for this video to confirm I am indeed a cricket and as soon as I saw the thumb nail I knew it! Perfectionism turned into procrastination! That is so me! I would say to my husband I was a perfectionist, and he'd scoff and say "You're joking, look at all this mess" but I would cry "it's waiting for me to have the time to do it properly!". So many unfinished things in my life/untackled jobs that are just put on hold until I have these elusive, large chunks of time to appear so I can do things 'right'.
I also get sooo frustrated with my 4 butterflies and 1 ladybug when they 'ruin' my systems by putting stuff in the wrong spot and I can't find it.....I will have to discipline myself to at least get as far as the ladybug part of organising ... and from there I can move closer to the cricket system as time permits, but at least as a ladybug we won't be drowning in piles and I think my butterflies will at least be able to cope with a ladybug system in the general areas of the house....at least I hope so. For all those cricket wannabees out there ... don't wish it upon yourself because it can truly be paralyzing!
As for your focus Cass....a suggestion, get your echo dot (I think I remember you talking about this device?) to remind you daily that is time to set your goals and lay out a plan of action. Get the Alexa to remind you when your time is up, then repeat / change the reminders as progress appears. You can go back to spinning your wheels AFTER your productivity time is finished but FORCE YOURSELF to spend time actioning your current plan EVERY DAY. If you decide to change lanes midstream just put it all in a folder (maybe with a date on it) and start a folder for the next idea. If/When you change gears again you can pick up where you left off on one of your previous ideas.
I personally think motivational speaking would be a good thing ... you're wonderful to listen to 😊 you just have to get past that 'I don't like people' thing you have 😉

Lol I just place the lid under the bin and pray for the best!! 😂

Ok Cass I totally understand your situation, and I have a suggestion. Its called (drum roll please) A BRAIN DUMP LOG OR JOURNAL. It's when you get all these ideas you quickly write them down, getting it all out on paper. And then walk away for a few. When you come back to it there will be no panic or fear of losing the idea. and you can plan what is really sticking out for you to actually do. I know it helps me, I get the mind racing all the time. I hope that helps some Love ya

Nancie Walker-Pirner . I used to think a journal or planner would just take up more time from stuff not getting done, but giving it a go, your absolutely right, so many thoughts just need to be let out then seeing them they don't keep rolling over and over in your head and you can much easier determine if they can be used or if they need to be let go of. Even just starting like that slowed the thought waves down so I didn't need to journal all the time, just at highly creative moments.

Thank you Cas 💕 Due to your videos I finally have home that is organized for both me and my husband. I found your videos last August when I was home and 9 months pregnant, just waiting and all the moving hurted. I looked a bunch of your videos ja wrote up several ideas.
After my little one was one month old (beginning of November) I started organizing and cleaning. One small part at the time. I set up organizing systems and got rid of junk, loads of it. We got some new Ikea furniture for our girl since I realize our system for her would not work when she would grow up. We got some other peaces of furniture from online market places (kind of Facebook pages for communities but these work better in Finland) and got rid of some old ones. Two weeks ago we made bedroom "makeover" and putted our furniture on more smart order and I set up our last organizing system. Last week I decluttered much still (who keeps 8 sets of towels when there is only space for 4...). This week I have been spending as holiday and learning new routine.
And as I return to work next week I have confidence that I can do it just a bit more easy with all the things I have learned. I do things ready in the evening so I can just go out in the morning, I have my evening cleaning routine all set and we have tested and found out that best way for us to clean is power hour after work Friday to get ready for weekend. And now we can do to everyday routine.
Having long waited child was blessing but also a scary thing. I was afraid of not ever getting organized and thinking what does our home looklike when we are both back at work. But I did it! I have it all organized and everything has it's place.
Thank you Cas ❤ I could have not done all this with out your videos. Realizing I'm just a ladybug and how I clean changed everything.
    Thank you 💕

I ADORE and drool over Nikki's videos!! I don't always have the same taste as far as "bling" and such but OH MY do I love her organizing ways!! I think I am a mixture of you and her...I am a whole-hearted cricket like Nikki, yet I LOVE your personality and how you talk to us like we're one of your friends. I really, truly, sincerely appreciate that!
I wasn't going to go there - but I started tearing up while typing that last sentence (I choked it back, it's okay) but I had to share and why... I am disabled, so I am home by myself during the day (10-12 hours), except for 2 dogs, until my boyfriend gets home.
Basically, I don't get out much and don't get to talk to anyone 10-12 hours out of the 16-18 hours I am awake in a day. So UA-cam and the creators I subscribe to (well, I really need to narrow that list down) have become my "fake friends". I know this sounds pathetic, but it is someone who talks to me during the day. You guys keep me company...help keep my sanity!! I mean, dogs don't talk back! LOL
I will literally have UA-cam playing in my airpods as I am doing things around the house, just to "keep me company". I even subscribed to YT Red as soon as it came out so I didn't have to listen to commercials interrupt my "friends" anymore (I realize how pathetic that sounds!)...I really do!
So, I just wanted you to know that you and your videos mean more to some of than you could EVER possibly realize!!

Made a trip to the dollar store today and found a lot of nice bins that matched what I already have. So many circular bins but had to go to two different stores to find good square and rectangle bins. Some really food scores today and I'm very excited! I've already almost finished my kitchen. Gurrrlll you have an awesome brain full of amazing business ideas. Start one thing at a time and see how it goes. Every-time a new idea pops into your head write it down. I’m the same freaking way lol. A new business idea is always popping into my head lol 😂🙄
Just write them down and try one at a time and then you can cross off from the list of crazy which ones can work for you and your lifestyle lol 😝
    Hugs Cas 🤗

OH Cas...where have you been all my life? SO grateful to have found this series!!!!! I"m a butterfly/bee...grew up in a hoarding home with no spaces or closets of my own..doing my Masters as an adult and living in a tiny apartment as I've worked my way through school with fibromyalgia. Clutter stresses me no end and always felt like I was defective as not only did I not see organizing growing up, but it is so much work for me and not natural. Channels like yours are not only helping me make my little home beautiful and organized, but taking the shame of not being an uber domestic gal like me pals. THANK YOU!! Blessings,

My closet, dresser, and jewelry box are cricket. My paper collection is ladybug. My garage is 1/2 cricket and 1/2 ladybug. My spare room is ladybug. The ladybug places are ones that are unfinished.

Cas, you are hilarious! I hope you do ALL of those things, girl! I have enjoyed your channel and this “bug” series, and it came to me at the perfect moment. I had just finished organizing my hall closet and the top of it is my medicine cabinet. The day after I finished it I started watching the bug segment that showed the overview on each one and saw myself EXACTLY in the cricket. It made me crack up at myself. I just thought I was super anal retentive. It helps me understand other people in my life too. So thank you for helping people to get their stuff together, and not take themselves so seriously. Regarding ADHD, the world today is diagnosed with it, there is an awesome video of professor Ken Robinson about Changing Education Paradigms that was a wake-up call to me and some of my students who thought they needed medication. You know what Cass? You are the coolest person that I have ever known!! (If it helps... ☺️)
Seriously!! Whenever I listen to you, not only do I learn a lot of things that have worked for me, but you make me feel that I am not the only one that spins from one good idea to the other without being able to develop it. So you know what? Maybe the point is that you are a super valuable source of ideas, and you could, for example, sell them!! Like you are doing with your books.
Do what you do best, and that is: to think, to create, and sell that gift that you have, without feeling ‘a fish on a tree’ because you are not able to develop them. Thinking, creating and imagining is great!! And for many people it is just something they lack: the inspiration.
    Think about it.
It has happened to me all my life.
And thank you, thank you!!! For being able to make me feel better about something:
when I clean or organize, I always seem to be jumping from one room to another, without being able to focus on just one thing or one space. For example, if I carry the dirty clothes from my room to the laundry area, I will find myself doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen table (which is beside the laundry area), before I can continue tidying my room. I simply thought that I was a desastre, but I finish having a clean and tidy house. It is just that I do it my own way... 😀😀
So perhaps being like that has its advantages too!!
Maybe the point is to try to find what is valuable in that way of being. You have already done great things. In fact, I think that you have already transformed the life of lots of people with your ‘bug organizing style’ and your tips and advice. Mine a least!!!
I send you lots of kisses and hugs, and a huge THANK YOU from the Canary Islands (Spain).
Thank you for being there. YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION!! Seriously 😘😘😘

Sometimes I have so many things running circles in my head that I don’t want to forget and it distracts me from what I’m trying to do (or just makes me feel crazy and frazzled). Jeannette M Urena Rodriguez I actually donate every 6 months and more if my kids outgrow their clothes. My biggest problem is that we live in a very small rental. We will be buying a house as soon as summer starts. When we moved here, I got rid of half of my belongings, packed the rest and only kept out the everyday needed stuff. We have a couch, loveseat and tv (that is on the wall) and no room for anything else in that room. I do have a filing cabinet that I use for what it is intended for and a lamp. Lol. We have 1 teeny tiny bathroom so I've even had to keep my decor packed. I absolutely can't wait to be organized.

      The Plant Eaters
      Ahahahaa! How
Shocked would you be to learn that I, too, am a lady bug (with a mix of bee)? 😘
These categories are the greatest explaination.

I am a ladybug with the same struggle!!! I have difficulty with the "follow through" because I have so many things I would like to do. I ALWAYS bite off more than I can chew and have ever since I could remember. I think the major problem I have is with prioritizing. I am sure other bugs struggle with it as well but I would be curious if it is "mostly" us ladybugs... lol

I’m a cricket! Have you been in my house and seen the piles of stuff? The neatest places are the drawers and cabinets. Yes, procrastination is a major problem for me-and ADD! So I keep trying for “good enough”, because otherwise I’m paralyzed because I know I can’t do it perfectly. Thanks for a great vid, and the much-needed motivation.

You are so adorable! I am so happy I found your channel. I recently was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 44, what a journey! I used to be so organized, and juggled 2 businesses (as a dayhome provider and a creative maker) , and 3 of my own kids in 3 different schools... and lately... man. I just can not keep up on anything. So in the past few years the 'piles' have grown' and I became paralyzed. Now I am uncovering things about my ADHD mind that so make sense. It explains why I love all the shiny things, but can't follow through with half of them. This video organizing series is helping me through a HUGE transition phase as I work to use my new adhd tools AND deal with my craft business that ran wild and eventually stalled out. I really appreciate your humour and honest in sharing your journey. I really needed to hear it today, especially seeing where you are 'today' as you have polished and accomplished those shiny ideas!

I feel you sister! I have been studying organization and practicing it since I was a very small child and your bug classification system was truly an eye opener for me!! Wow! I feel like I know myself- finally!

try writing down your thoughts and ideas. for me writing them down stops (or slows) the spinning and I look at my notes numerous times a day because I sometimes even forget a cool idea i wanted to run past hubby but writing it down is like.. a removable memory bank. I can forget about that thought because it is saved on paper. electronic devices dont work as well because you usually have to log in and stuff but you can keep a notebook where the majority of your day is spent (and ALWAYS) the same place so it is where you need it when you need it. HTH

Chaffegirl I know you said you don't like electronic lists and I dint either until I tried the app keep. It is free, customizable and has changed my life. I don't forget things anymore and have become so much more productive...plus you don't have to log into anything (no login or password).

I am 100% cricket!! I wasn't sure which organizing style I was until this video. I totally understand the getting overwhelmed by needing it to be perfect!
