      Just let you know that this tutorial is not covering the latest firmware version. And an upcoming tutorial is expected :D

      yes I figured. Im on 1.8 and awaiting 1.9. This tutorial was still very useful for me as a new user.

    Great demo! Looks like I was misunderstanding the assignable controllers. I'll have to experiment with those again. I assumed the external signals were attenuated with the knobs so I was confused. Am I correct in that the external signals are only attenuated by the intensity assigned per step? That would be logical.

    • @robotopsyrobotopsy6486
      @robotopsyrobotopsy6486  7 років тому +2

      If you send some CV... the knobs will act as attenuaters too
      with no CV the knobs will transpose the values to the selected parameters.
      The assignable controllers are a bit confusing and I think things might change a bit in upcoming firmware !?!?

      It's a complex module and not exactly intuitive. I wish he would put together a comprehensive manual. I think I understand everything except the assignable controllers. They don't seem to behave logically and I can't tell if it's because I don't get it or the firmware is still not working properly. Frustrating because it is otherwise an amazing module!

    • @robotopsyrobotopsy6486
      @robotopsyrobotopsy6486  7 років тому

      I also think the assignal controllers need some adjustment

    • @SpiritMoleculeManiacPsychoPro
      @SpiritMoleculeManiacPsychoPro 6 років тому

      i also not understand the behaivor so well thought they attenuate a assigned step , now i explored that u couls do some without the page keys and just by the assignable A/B but still im not so sure about them

    The module has to be powered to update the firmware, at least for the Pickit3. Thanks for the video!

      Any chance of you updating the description with links to the beginning of each sub-section? That would be really helpful for using this as a (repeat) reference.

      thanks for doing that!!
      Any workflow tips/advice on getting more comfortable with the fact that the sliders aren't modal? Yes, this sequencer is amazingly powerful but having the slider positions representing multiple parameters can sometimes get confusing. Then again I've only had mine for a day or so so I'm just getting used to it :D

      It's not really an issue for me. I like playing with randomness .

    if i buy this module from musicstore.de, will it have this firmware installed? because the updateprocess isnothing for me :)

      I dont have any idea of their latest firmware, but you may ask them.... they might even do the update for you. Moog audio Montreal did for some clients so it might not be a problem for them.

    Your tutorial about the SH MKII is the best out there but in it I see that A and B notes are playing but with my unit I only have C D E F notes. Any thoughts?

    • @Quantumspace23
      @Quantumspace23 7 років тому +1

      The problem was in one of the firmware updates. I just upgraded to 1.85.2new and sloppy voltage readings at the top of the sliders has been fixed and the missing notes. I'm in love with the new firmware!

      a 2.0 firmware is supposed to be out soon. Then I'll make another tutorial for the new changes. Busy schedule lately :(

      The 1.85.2New version of firmware was released yesterday and fixed all of my problems :) --- Love the idea of a new tutorial from you when 2.0 arrives, great news!

    Hello,
    Thank you for this tutorial, it is hyper instructive.
    Do you know how to transpose a sequence? Via the A & B inputs?
    I did not succeed...
    Thank you!

    • @robotopsyrobotopsy6486
      @robotopsyrobotopsy6486  7 років тому +2

      Be sure to have the 1.666 firmware
      Push the A assignable button (with the chosen track selected) and push on the CV button.
      Then keep holding the A '' Assignable'' and insert the amount you need on each step.... I 'd suggest holding shift & the rotary encoder at the same time while moving the slider so every steps will have the same amount. then by moving the knob will move transpose forward the sequence.... if you want to transpose the sequence with the attenuverter in the lower range ! Just hold down the B button and push CV....... no need to insert steps for the Assignable B ... now you should be able to transpose up and down the sequence.
      Just tried it and it's playing while I'm writing :D

    • @robotopsyrobotopsy6486
      @robotopsyrobotopsy6486  7 років тому +1

      Also if you want to control the transpose with external CV just insert signals into the input jack and adjust the knobs...... One thing I like to do is having another sequence of the Stillson hammer at 16 division... random its CV values.... insert the CV out to the input A and adjust the '' CV range '' of this track I like
      '' 0 - 2 V''.... so each 16 steps the sequence will be tranpose to the next value of the divided track.

    • @Boodaman
      @Boodaman 7 років тому

      This is exactly what I want to do: Transpose the sequences via another sequencer, not a Stillson Hammer because I'm not rich ;D but my own sequencer ( Cavisynth SEQ-UFD )
      Thank you very much for these fast explanations !
      I noticed, I will try on my next visit to the studio.

      Are you with the eurorack synthesizers ( closed group ) on facebook ?
      I'll shoot a short clip how to de it later to day.
      Meanwhile maybe you could try another time.
      With the explanations I said.
      If the sequence you want to transpose has a limited range... let's say 0-2V
      Well you wont be able to transpose this sequence lower or higher than this..
      Keep that in mind too.
      We will find a way dont worry
      :D

    Nice video Robotopsy! How can one make steps of different length (1/4, 1/8, 1/16...) within one sequence?

    • @robotopsyrobotopsy6486
      @robotopsyrobotopsy6486  6 років тому

      Push on the track selection button you should see something like that on the Display. |||||||| 16.-- ||||||||| 16 is the number of steps for this track so turn the rotary encoder and adujst it the way you like. Keep in mind that you may need to use an external trig or gate to reset the Stillson and have your track synced in some ways even if they have different length.

      Robotopsy Robotopsy sorry I wasnt clear enough but thanks anyway. I mean steps of different length, first step shorter, second step longer, like quarter and sixteenth notes, is that possible?
