    Great video, as usual !
We are two scrum masters that have each 3 teams. So 6 teams in total not counting the stakeholder teams on the business side that we also have to help train in agile/scrum.
The agile coach leads the PI Planning sessions and gets our feedback on how the teams are doing. The coach helps us align ourselves on : team dependencies, project/incremental date releases and communicates with upper management our advancement.
The scrum masters (us), are the coaches' minions that help them gain valuable information on the teams. The coach would never have enough time to work with each team and figure out the problems.
The SM's (us) are able to summarize the difficulties in each team to help the coach gain an overall view of the problems we encounter.

I think the bigger the team, and the bigger the scale of the product, the more delegation and separation of work is needed.
For example, if you are a Product Owner for a product that has 10 teams working on it, you better have some people inside the teams you can delegate some work to, otherwise, there is just not enough time in the day to work with everyone.
As for that phrase "Scrum Masters are the coaches minions" - this is really why I made this video. I think that we need to step away from this ridiculous hierarchy that Agile Coaches are somehow superior to Scrum Masters. It should be a collaboration between the two roles if there is a split of functions.

I am not sure how to respond to this video, but I see your point, you are also subject to learning just the way the rest of us are, and most of all the organizations that do not know how to properly define the works of a scrum master and that of an agile coach, furthermore an enterprise agile coach.
The scrum master as defined within the scrum framework focuses on the team which is also a part of the bigger organization.
Frameworks like SAFe takes it a step further to bring them into Pi planning meetings and scrum of scrums and so on.
While some organizations say they want a scrum master, a lot of times the scrum master gets to deal with other departments that the organization has not considered, hence adding more work to the scrum master.
As an enterprise agile coach. I focus on sooooo much more. Identify the existing culture, working on the agile transformation across multiple departments, and how all that affects the requirements and delivery as well as support of the the software after deploying to prod or market.
The reason why scrum masters are below agile coach is because SOME AND ALOT OF NEW scrum masters only care about facilitating ceremonies and removing dependency that they would have to coordinate with an agile coach (in a well structured agile environment) these new scrum master only think of facilitation at the team level. The description and responsibilities of what organizations want a scrum master to do has drastically changed over time, because they are beginning to see that the challenges they face is beyond ceremonies and facilitations.

      Thank you for your perspective.
The Scrum Master role has always been to work both on the team level AND on the organizational level. The main accountability is to establish Scrum. This includes everyone.
I think a big challenge is the one you described at the end of your comment - new inexperienced Scrum Masters.
I believe too many people think that the SM role is an entry-level position. And it's NOT. Same as you can't become an enterprise coach right out of university, you can't really fulfill the SM role if you don't have any experience.

Agile Coaches are typically agnostic to the chosen methodology whilst I don't see a Scrum Master supporting a Kanban team.

I'd say a great Scrum Master needs to be framework agnostic too. On the organizational level Scrum Master is an Agile Coach.

@@ScrumMastered At this point, I would call this person an Agile Coach and not a Scrum Master anymore 😅 understandably confusing for any outsider.

😆Agile Coach gets more money is an unfortunate mind-set that we need to challenge.
