As a game its a 5/10 but as a piece of Fairly Odd Parents interactive media its a 8/10. The references are on point. Stages feel similar to episodes. The voice actors put in a similar effort level to the show. Everything feels cohesive
BRO... STOP IT. The unearthing of these childhood memories are too great. I got this game for getting a "Check+" on my report card in 4th grade, this game kept me company through many saturday mornings, thanks for reminding me bubba.
"Check+" just gave me childhood whiplash to the way they would change the report card grading scale every damn year in elementary school. O's Y's A's S's were all the "good" ones at one point or another, but N's were always bad.
I spent my entire childhood wanting to play this game. Now, at 23yrs, I come across your video, remember this, and set an emulator to play. The sheer joy this brought me, man... Thank you so much for this Jordan
It was the same for me in the UK I enjoyed playing Shadow Showdown and still do today. But I was really annoyed that I missed out on playing Breakin Da Rules.

What I like about games like this, is you can tell everything that’s there to offer, and if you want just a nice relaxing nostalgic platformer, it’s a nice time still today. Also I have memories of being sick and staying home playing this game. Good times, I think I was 5 or 6.
The Vicky Boss in the Power Mad inspired level made a Sonic reference as well. She mentions when she gets done with you, she'll change you into something else.. One of the mentions of animals is a Hedgehog.
I feel like this was a great "intro to gaming" video game. It's clever but simple. It has different challenges that get harder but not impossible. And it's played at a pace that makes it easy for kids to get a basic understanding of the controls used in most rpgs without it being too easy or too hard. I think that's what this game was really meant for. It wasn't created for experienced gamers, but rather as an introduction of sorts for children. I know I loved this game and Shadow Showdown as a kid, and it definitely got me more interested in games similar to it. Now I play RDR2 and GTA V, and I owe a lot of that enjoyment to early, child friendly rpgs like Breakin' Da Rules. I know this game is outdated and boring to most adults, but it will always hold a special place in my memory
Love your content, really feels like a blast from the past. You should do an episode on the Fossil Fighter games, especially since you seemed to enjoy Spectrobes
I kinda miss the absolute cheese licensed video games that THQ put out back in the early/mid 00s. Sometimes you'd get amazing games, like Battle for Bikini Bottom, and sometimes... you get Breakin' Da Rules. At least we had the benefit of Blockbuster/Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery rentals back then to decide if a game was worth getting.
I love the episodic nature of this--it feels really natural, of course. I remember seeing a friend play this at his house when we were kids, but never tried it myself. It looks great with the cell-shaded style, and honestly you've encouraged me to try this myself. Thanks, Jordan!
I remember renting this game for the Xbox at Blockbuster when I was 7. When I got home and opened up the case, Godzilla: Save the Earth was inside instead. That was my introduction to my lifelong obsession with Godzilla. I still remember all the screenshots of the Fairy Odd Parents game on the box. Wasn’t exactly excited but was interested. It feels so nice to see what this game actually looks like after all these years. Thank you.
Shadow Showdown is an amazingly nastalgic game for me and my siblings! The varied and interesting levels with their own gimmics, the ongoing mystery, and how you can use your wishes all throughout the levels they appear in. Along with permanent powerups. I still remember learning to back track while using my wishes in Fairy World. It never felt stale for us and was hours of enjoyment.
I owned this game as a kid. Was only ever able to beat the Crimson Chin level cause my dumb kid brain and dumb kid reflexes made the other levels too hard. Bought it again as an adult like "Yeah I'm gonna beat this game I never could as a kid!" And got bored about 4 levels in.
Except having to deal with Nelvana would be a major issue. THQ Nordic strictly said that a re-release of Breaking da Rules would be US only no matter what happens.
I remembered playing that game on my old tv and wow I remember beating it twice. My old tv had bad quality causing some levels to be too bright. But I proved my tv and beat it… with luck.
I really enjoyed this video, also I think you should try the shadow showdown iirc it's much better than breakin da rules, I hope you continue making great videos about those licensed games that are left in the shadows but I remember them and this kind of content brings me happiness :)
omg I loved the shadow showdown fairly oddparents game as a kid… Every time my family went to blockbuster I would beg to rent it out for our gamecube lol
Oh wow, I remember renting this at Hollywood Video and playing it for all of 30 mins before getting bored and swapping over to the Futurama video game I also rented and finishing it in a sitting 😂 .... returned this basically unplayed because most of it was intro, fun to see now what it was actually about hehe
Seeing this game, this is basically what the new SpongeBob Cosmic Shake is with a few extras I love callbacks and references to old episodes, my nostalgia kicks in so hard, that I don't even mind if the game would be bad, I would still have the time of my life playing it, haha
I started playing this game a few months ago, and while i enjoyed the game in general, as well as the callbacks to episodes (i grew up with it) i ended up stopping halfway through it as it became so formulaic and repetitive. I may pick it back up eventually, even if just to say i did it. Kudos for beating the whole thing though!
One of my most nostalgic games, I played it extremely young. I remember really enjoying the dog/mall level, and being too scared to do the camp level. Seeing these levels gives me such enjoyable abstract feelings, thank you for reminding me of this game!
Happy New Year Jordan - Fringemas was awesome this year. Watching this triggered a core memory that Frankie Muniz was Chester’s VA. Never played this but might need to just for nostalgia’s sake.
The 2nd game feels way more fleshed out as a Fairly Oddparents experience. It feels as though each level was crafted in a cartoon and audio is much cleaner as well :D (Fairly Oddparents Shadow Showdown ≥ Break'n Da Rules)
Oddly enough, the hub and mission select style really reminds me of the Ed Edd n Eddy Mis-Edventures game. Definitely seems like a game I would've probably enjoyed well-enough as a kid, but, yeah, definitely doesn't seem like something that'd stand the test of time too well.
Thq was dropping hits around this time! This, jimmy neutron, spongebob, and rocket power games were so good. And despite breaking da rules having atrocious audio it still holds up graphically and gameplay wise.
While I never played this one (aside from the handheld which was VERY different) I DID play Shadow Showdown a bunch as a kid and would love to hear you talk about that one too!
I rented this game from Hollywood Video and beat it in like 3 days. Have not touched it since, refuse to ruin the nostalgia, there’s no way it’s as good as I remember

Hey, Jordan Fringe. You should definitely do a review of The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown in a future video! Can you cover that video game sequel, please?
Let’s be honest, anything could be a video game back then, I have the meet the Robinsons video game, I’ve seen the suite life of Zach and Cody game, and multiple more like that
This game along with the other one (shadow something, can't remember the name) had such a weird vibe, between the super compressed dialog and music (and sometimes lack of), not to mention the absolute zany level design, but nonetheless a great memory from my childhood
Breakin' da Rules is so nostalgic for me. My brother and I still quote it sometimes. I'm not saying it's the best game out there or anything, but it was so much fun as a kid.
I remember playing this one back in the day, although I think what I would do the most watch the clips for the icky Vicky and perfecto teeth songs lol Hope You do a video in the kids next door video Game eventually!
Loved this show growing up and really dug this game as a kid. Wasn't as great as Spongebob BFBB but it was a cool little tie in game, same with the Ed Edd & Eddy game.
I played this game and thought the intro was so stupid because the consequence for wishing he didn’t have to follow the stupid rules wasnt explained well and made no sense. Regardless i recall enjoying this game even though I didn’t finish it more than once. My favorite mission is the one where we had to escape tootie in dog form in that big ass shopping center I did enjoy the shade Timmy threw at Vicky while reading her homework for not being smart enough to realize pyramids are big pointy triangles. Just thinking of the line “Pyramids are called pyramids because of their distinctive-that’s spelled wrong- cube shape” makes me smile
This was honestly my favorite, definitive experience with the Fairly OddParents. The controls were bad and the animation was certainly weak, but I had a lot of fun. It was cool to see lots of different levels, several of them based on TV episodes without directly adapting them. And the game’s lack of NPC’s and minimalist score actually made the game feel scarier than it was. You’re really just sort of on your own even with Cosmo and Wanda popping up frequently, and it’s easy to ignore them since they don’t contribute much besides jokes. The camping level was pretty eerie especially thanks to the stealth sections and the brainwashed girls hunting you down; the quiet Crimson Chin hub level with nothing but the gusty wind; the monster in the bathtub. The two scariest things in the game, well, the first one, was Tootie in her level. If you heard her squeaking, you RUN. The second, and scariest thing? The stealth section where you have to evade Crocker. I never thought I’d fear Crocker until I played this, and this is again where the deadly silence of the game takes great effect. His later section where he keeps popping out of places to find you was also scary because of how eagerly he broke out of his hiding places. This was one of my very first PS2 video games and I’ll always cherish it.
I remember I played this game a lot when I was kid. I’ve kind of been curious to go back to see if it holds up…but I feel like I already know the answer to that questionz

Going on my personal memories the second game was an overall upgrade. Kept the wishing and mechanics but felt like an overall better experience. However it's been 15 years so who the hell knows.
Christmas 2003. I got a PS2 and this game. I was blown away. I finally got to explore the world of one of my favorite tv shows. 20 years later (god it hurts to say that) I see now it’s a little cheesy and redundant, but back then, it was the best.
there's actually more than 1 Fairly Oddparents game. There is also The Fairly OddParents! Shadow Showdown The Fairly Oddparents! Clash with the Anti-World The Fairly OddParents! Enter the Cleft 2 Games in 1 Double Pack: SpongeBob SquarePants / Fairly OddParents (not certain if it was ever in a non compilation) There is also a board game and at least used to be a mobile game too. So really you've got enough to do a series of videos (or one long video on). That's not counting the gba episodes (2 carts)
So... there's a reason why the game was only ever released in the United States and Shadow Showdown was released in Europe and Australia as well. Nelvana got the consumer product rights to the series outside the United States in addition to distributing the first five seasons. They decided not to license this game in the United States, so this prevents a release anywhere else, which THQ Nordic has said when they signed a deal with Nickelodeon in 2018 for possible re-releases of the ex-THQ Nickelodeon titles that if this title was ever re-released, remade, or anything like that, it would be a strict US only release, so the licensing issues resolving Nelvana still hold on to this time. Shadow Showdown would be fine, considering the overseas release was licensed and Nelvana replaced all Nickelodeon logos with theirs, so the licensing issues with that aren't major. There was some loophole with the Nicktoons Unite titles, but other than that Nelvana is still the reason why the characters from the show haven't made it to newer titles like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
The baby was fine, the dog itself was funny enough but the all around writing and animation started feeling off around that time, and the girl just ruined it, animation hit rock bottom writing got worse everytime I tried to watch it, and worst of all they messed with the theme song.
Thanks so much for watching! Did you ever get a chance to play this Fairly OddParents game? Let me know your thoughts on it!
I did actually play the game but it was a very long time ago so I don’t remember much.

So really you've got enough to do a series of videos (or one long video on). That's not counting the gba episodes (2 carts)
or any spinoffs they appeared in
So... there's a reason why the game was only ever released in the United States and Shadow Showdown was released in Europe and Australia as well.
There was some loophole with the Nicktoons Unite titles, but other than that Nelvana is still the reason why the characters from the show haven't made it to newer titles like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
one of the first games i ever had on ps2, it came along with the console holy shit the levels of nostalgia on this one are over the roof im dying
I dropped off the show when before they added Spark the Magic Dog but I enjoyed Poof when they added him.
I can get why some might find it uninspired, but I'm actually impressed with how many specific references are in this game.
This video game brings back so many memories, might have been the first game I rented

best design of timmy ive ever seen
I had the PC version when I was a kid, it felt like a completely different game with much less content and a totally different story >.>
The baby was fine, the dog itself was funny enough but the all around writing and animation started feeling off around that time, and the girl just ruined it, animation hit rock bottom writing got worse everytime I tried to watch it, and worst of all they messed with the theme song.
What ruined the show was the supporting characters being pushed to the side and more focus of Timmy's parents and Denzel Crocker.
