Chur mbro love your vibe! Be keen to have a chat if you're ever out West come over for breakfast. I got my departure ticket back in 2002 and after 15 years of being here, I know the ups and downs of Life as a five01, and now that I've found "God", have a real feel for our people, more now than ever. Keen to know how you've done since 2019 and since finding God, as I have a different view of the Bible, and the cultural similarities we share with the people of our Creator and maybe even chop up some scriptures?!? I upload vids to fb occasionally so if you're interested in coming out West Auckz for a coffee and biscuits that'd be eetswaah mbraahh... Till then, take care & be safe! Blessings to your journey mbro 🙏
Omgggg my old friend from the streets!!!! Wussup Naomi its Koko!!!! Oh how i cried watching this... i havent seen you in well over 25 years... wow look at you all grown up!!! god is good!!! I recently reconnected with Patty... Tai was living with me here in Wgtn for a bit and im sorry to say our dear friend Penelope has passed away... she is laid to rip in Puhoi... id love to catch up with ya when im in town!!! Much love ❤❤❤❤❤
I was homeless from age 15. I suffered a childhood full of the most atrocious abuse (sexually in a ring type situation orchestrated by my father), physically by my Mother and older brother. I became a regular on k road and lived under Grafton bridge. Love to everyone still on K Road, i live in australia now, and wish to come back eventually and visit K Road and it's wonderful people. Yes, some of the people were scary and dangerous, but a lot more of them were helpful and took care of me. ❤
The reasons most turn to the streets is because it’s safer than home. Although economic reasons have forced many to homelessness it’s the children who have suffered abuse my heart feels for. The one’s exposed to these deviates, so sad but humbling to hear the one’s who would take those clients to help the more vulnerable ones. Keep strong
I used to work for Rendals department store on K. Rd, which is no longer there. This was back in the 70's. There was a snooker joint on the side street from George Court, which I used to visit weekly. I have many stories I could share about back then, but maybe will leave it for another video. Great video and thank you for sharing.
From a Christian sister, bless you both.Never ever ceases to amaze me how our awesome God, changes our ashes to beauty. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty. Your video is an eye opener. Kia kaha, kia toa,kia manawanui,💯🙏❤️
You have a beautiful heart Tommy. Your understanding of those around you is admirable and I wish more people had this perspective rather than judgement towards others.
This is home to a lot of people. We grew up here. Surrounded by broken cycles but this place had a lot of love in it. Memories all over. Overtime they have tried to drown out the people from the streets but in many corners you’ll still find the oldie Goldie’s ❤
Kia ora brotha... Excellent presentation, we enjoyed watching. You got the interviewing gift!! Wahooo !! Bless all who've been lost to create the change ❤
Thank you for sharing this meaningful and insightful video. I like the fact that you found someone who knows the ins and outs of this place :) Continue to spread awareness and be the voice of those unspoken.
Bro this was good . Tommy is an angel man power and love to Tommy . I grew up around there as a kid . The Gang violence and everything Tommy said is 💯. Made me emotional to be honest I lost a lot of friends. In the 80s around that place. Anyways this was awesome. Peace ✌️. Bless ya souls.
Remember back in the 90s hanging out as a youngsta. It’s was full on. West terrace was dark. Thanks for this upload bro. My grand mother used to feed the street kids back in the 70s and 80s.
This was mad insightful, been living here for almost ten years and been to K-Rd a hand full of times but still didn't know how its run, fuckin sick content bro, much needed as well!
I remember being young back in the 90’s and there was that murder all over the news of Natasha Hogan, she had her head beaten in by a Rock in the Symonds Street cemetery across the rd on the top end of K Rd. That was real sad. Such a bad time in the 90’s and early 2000’s on that street I remember the drug addicts everywhere seedy environment.
Yeah that when I was around there too, madness eh,but if you carry yaself right U were all good. The park was always bit sifty but it was Ponsonby park you wanted no part of after midnight and round Grafton bridge.Mad goths in the cemetery and stuff, always interesting sometimes spooky
Kia ora Tommy, you’re looking well, loved hearing your kōrero thank you for sharing the massive journey you’ve had. Hope you’re still singing too, used to love hearing you sing back in the day. All the best to both of you
I remember the KRd Ballroom with all its pool tables, a good charlotte video was actually shot in there. I also remember the Rendals store, the Deka and the big old Mc Donalds. The Turkish Cafe, The Rising Sun, DTM, Staircase, Legend, Voyager, Ink, Bed, Bacio, Kiss Bar, Jones Bar, 24/7 Bar, The supper Club, The male rent boys on Beresford Street "B Street". The sex workers behind the Sheraton Hotel, The Gundry, Finale, Caluzzi, The diary with 'One Eyed Willy' selling his brown bags with a toot, all the bouncers - August and friends.... The NZPC, ADIOS needle exchange when it moved from Greylynn, Mercury Plaza, Various street identities, Gank, Authur, Gale, Panther..... Good times

Tena hoki koe e te mangai, ka nui te mihi ki a koe i haere ki ena waahi hei whakapuaki ki te whenua. Really appreciate what you are doing with regards to walking our hoods and bringing the reality to our people throughout Aotearoa and beyond. All the places like Mangere, Otara and KRoad, Auck city is where we used to skate in the late 80s and early 90s. Coming from the FFN in Te Kao, seeing the streetkids, sniffing glue etc... was shock. Felt alot of aroha and so, would spend time with our people on the streets whilst skating around, especially the backstreets and skating was becoming banned in the various towns. Is there a link we go to to help with financial support? Kia arahina tonutia koe e te Wairua Tapu kia tutuki pai ai nga whainga kei mua i te aroaro...
Nice to See Tommy.. My Fether was the caretaker of the Grays ave Flats in the 90's I rember The area well but was actualy pretty safe back then. no real issues.just street kids. and Glue. mostly. Infact my Dad use to let the kids sleep up stairs in the Laundra area. but asked them to respect the Tenents. and leave in the morning. we had no issues with them . and allways had positive interactions with the street kids. in the building and Downtown... Love you're Vlogs keep up the good work. Had some crazy story's about the People who. lived in the Flats. 1. was the Lady that went up to the Jewish school and stabed a bunch of kids.... was quite sad my Mother befriended her. and tryed to help her. God Bless and keep safe.
Bizarre, I've lived in Auckland more than 40 years and seen the Michelangelo Moses (it has horns) at St Peters in Chains in Rome and never had a clue that there was a replica down the road! Will have to go visit! Thanks bro
I remember that area from 1999 to 2009 after which i moved to waiheke island, tommy may or may not know me from back then (don't know how old tommy is), yeah, the queens (trans girls) were all around the lower end of east st, the fish (cis girls) were all around hope st and there was another group of island queens that were around the church where siones wedding was filmed, and the gay boys were around the back of the supper club

My oldest sister used to work for the Prostitutes collective in Auckland and they would make sure addicts and workers at least had protection, check ups or at least clean needles to avoid anything spreading and keeping healthy. Met a lot of interesting characters over time that as I grew up (in Wellington) were hoping they were doing well or better after we lost her to...well the 'S' word. They held a memorial in the offices. I can't remember if its in the same place as back in the early 2000s though.
