What's chilling about that too is the accident had just happened. The person's injuries had to be so catastrophic and incompatible with life that the bystander knew there was no way they survived. Just horrid.
I just don't think a bartender should be held responsible for the actions of a patron. You said it yourself that an adult is responsible for their own actions.
He may have had fifteen shots, but that doesn't mean the bartender should be held responsible. The bartender doesn’t see the table ticket since the server only orders the drinks. If the bartender deliberately served this guy all the shots, I could understand they were being charged. Ultimately, the drunk guy is responsible for his actions, so he is the one who needs to be held accountable for them.
@@lilpenguin092 drinking alcohol and getting behind the wheel isn’t an accident. If you kill someone driving drunk whether it’s intentional or not (usually isn’t) they still took someones life away
That dude in the first one who tackled the drunk driver sounded like he was about to cry while he was screaming at the guy. He probably did when he got home. Dudes voice had so much emotion to it
I stopped at an accident the 14 yo boy was pinned under the car and the driver and oh so smaett friends are trying to bounce the car off him crushing his chest I couldn't do much except be there for him and talk to him hold him still yes that guy cried I did and got totally drunk also washed my hands a 100 times traumatizing
Is there a limit to what you can serve where you are? For example, here in NY we can't serve more than 3 long island ice teas by law. And it is a crime here in NY to sell someone additional alcohol after they are visibly drunk. I'm not sure if this person just wanted the money but they legally should be held responsible as well.
Stephanie was not just drunk. She was a sociopathic, soulless human being. She had no problem keeping it together, fully aware, until she realized she was being arrested & held accountable. Then it was all just a big inconvenience. She understood what she did to a large degree & acted like a spoiled brat. The alcohol just lowered her inhibition enough for her to blatantly display the ugly inside.
Oh it gets better if you look it up. daddy got her out and it was shown online she was out drinking and partying . Then her and daddy got mad because they didn't want her to walk to get her NURSING degree. That is right, she was 4 weeks away from getting a degree in nursing and she did NOTHING to help the people she hit.
It’s 100% his fault, but as a bartender, I cannot imagine serving someone 16 shots, let alone watching them go to their car and drive off without calling the cops
In my area of Canada, whoever served him could also be held responsible. I’m not entirely sure on what the consequences actually are. However, when one is getting licensed to serve alcohol, they pound it into your head that you’re liable for over serving and/or drunk driving.
I've taken keys and/or stopped serving several times. When someone is impaired, they obviously don't make good decisions. Even if there isn't a legal duty, there's definitely a moral duty to step in, in my opinion.
My parents were hit by a drunk driver when i was 10 They didn’t die but my dad was left severely disabled. He spent years wishing he was dead. When i was young i had wished he had died so he could be out of his misery. My mom now had to work 80 hours a week to support her disabled husband and 3 kids. My dad spiraled into alcoholism. It’s been 20 years and things are much better. But my childhood was taken from me. So much of my parents quality of life was taken from them. There’s so many consequences and people care more about their drinking than they do the possible consequences
There were witnesses saying they could hear her breathing/making noises but they couldn't get her door open. Ruggs was still going 120+ ON IMPACT. The fact him and his girlfriend just walked away wanting medical while that poor girl burned alive....
In my younger, wilder days a bartender politely asked for my car keys and ordered a cab for me when I got wasted during a football Sunday. I appreciate her for keeping me from being in one of these videos.
@@michaelp7617 I’m not defending drunks, and especially not drunk drivers. Where I live, in Perth, Western Australia, before Uber, it was very difficult to get a taxi, especially late at night. You’d get people coming out of nightclubs at 2:30am and still standing in taxi queues at 4am. So you can understand why drink driving was more prevalent than it is now that Ubers are everywhere.
@@michaelp7617cabs are too expensive. Driving home drunk can save you from spending a bunch of unnecessary money. Besides if you don’t live that far away it’s not that big of a deal.

When you're in court ... just remember ... it does you no good to speak out. It doesn't help the case, it doesn't help you (like you said, you'll get tossed and the driver doesn't hear you anyway). The fact that woman just killed 2 people and acted like her life was just going to continue without a problem and she was going to school and just shrug this off made me feel complete disgust.. That officer shown a level of self-restrain I wouldn't..
@jimmycline4778 you're right. I went to Bradley the school she was at and people knew she was a hard-core partier. People protested her graduating so the school didn't let her walk. It's crazy when stuff like that happens near you 😮
Henry Ruggs tried to blame the other driver saying: "I know someone is in the other car but this is a hit and run right here". What a jerk. He didn't get enough jail time.
Because Alcohol consumption is considered the norm. “ Everyone drinks “ is a common misconception. “ Everyone gets a little tipsy when they drink , it’s just having fun . No harm.” Another misconception. People who drink to excess feel great about it and don’t want to stop before they are certifiably intoxicated.
Dui often has crazy penalties even low speed, no accident. Which is dumb. Or, if you fall asleep in your car drunk with the keys not even in the ignition. 3rd DUI, you're not avoiding prison.
Forty seven years ago, I was crippled for life by a drunk driver. He was on his third DUI, with no insurance. I was in a cast for 13 months. He never spent a day in jail. I wonder why he still had a drivers license after two DUI convictions. *Because the police and courts allow it.
My stepdad, 3 month old sister and I were hit head on by a drunk driver. My stepdad got a gash on his head... I broke my leg in two places and was in a heavy plaster cast for a long time. I was 6... Missed my first Christmas parade that I was going to twirl in, had to go to school in a wheel chair at some point... I know that's not really a big deal now .. but at 6, I was heartbroken. I remember hearing my parents talk about the guy . He'd had other DUI's, no license, no insurance.. and he gave us a coffee table as payment for the wreck. He had ZERO to offer. I can't remember if he went to jail .. but I don't think so.
The police go to great lengths to arrest legally, always trying to include every detail. The courts let them go. Police are at the mercy of the courts releasing criminals just like the rest of us.
The charge of misdemeanor vehicular homicide for the football player is absolutely criminal and the PA and judge in that case should be jailed. What a slap in the face to her family. The young lady who died was doing nothing wrong and died a horrible death because of his actions. No wonder drunks still get behind the wheel, with the bs charges and sentencing that they get after murdering a person. And it is murder, just like if he shot her. Prayers to her family.
That poor young woman and her dog suffered horribly in this. That football player doesn’t deserve to see the light of day ever again. He murdered them.
3-10 years for killing a woman and her dog whilst driving intoxicated 2 times the limit. Let alone, the only chance of survival she had was diminished by burning alive. It's criminal that he was sentenced so little.
@@MustSeeInside what do you mean "what does the judge have to do with it?". Do you think the sentence just popped out of thin air? They are upset about how short the jail sentence is. It should be very obvious what the judge has to do with that.
My mom had forty years of alcoholism under her belt when she wrecked. She had a BAC of .410. Most of us would die from that much booze in our blood. I was relieved when she wrecked because the only one who she killed was herself. Don’t let your family members be relieved when you die. It sucks.

I worked at a Indian casino many years ago as a bartender. One night one of the managers was way drunk, in uniform. I took her keys and the shuttle took her home and she had no clue. Two days later she fired me for what I did. Eventually the UIA and my attorney were able to fish me a nice chunk of change from the casino. Haven't been back in a casino since.

For those wondering, the bartender from the first story was arrested and charged with one count of Sale to Certain Persons, which is a “Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a $4,000 fine.”
Most states have these laws, and as a bartender I completely agree with them. A few months ago I had a group of people come in. They were tipsy but they were using Uber, so I wasn’t too worried about them. After getting them their cocktails I realized one man should not have been served. I watched him closely. There was one person in the group who was sober. I told that guy that I wasn’t going to serve drunk guy anymore alcohol. He agreed and said he’d deal with him. Sober guy ordered shots for everyone (except for drunk guy.) I gave everyone their shots, no one wanted them. The shots just sat on the bar. I turned my back for 30 seconds to wash some glasses and drunk grabbed the FOUR shots! He slammed all FOUR of them before I even turned around. I was pissed!! I asked them all to leave. While they were waiting for their Uber, drunk guy, of course, became a problem. He tried to lie down on the floor and sleep. Oh, hell no! I made his friends get him out of my bar. Then he wanted to pass out in one of the cafe chairs outside. I went out there to get him up when the Uber showed up. They had to carry him to get him in the van. I told the whole group that I never wanted to see them again. Hell, I’m still mad about that guy! Even if you don’t plan to drive, alcohol poisoning is a real problem. There are laws that I have to obey! These weren’t kids. They were all like 40. They should know better!

I can’t believe the total indifference that Stephanie exudes after killing two people she’s seriously only interested how many days of school she’s going to miss the court gave her a very respectable 14 years plenty of time to see the error of her ways what a horrible human being she is!
She was more than 3x over the limit and potentially on other drugs as well. She likely wasn’t able to process what was happening. Or she’s just a genuinely awful “person” (monster is probably more fitting)
She is going to be very late for that class she was so worried about and she can forget about Vegas. That video was so horrible to watch. So glad I am sober for 33 years now. I use to be just like all of them. I was fortunate that I never injured anybody.
Her level of narcissism is incredible. Something hit "her" car.. How could this happen to "HER". Her blatant depraved disregard for the two lives she took makes my blood boil. What a monster. Whatever sentence they gave her, it wasn't nearly enough. It should have been life without parole.
I watched that monster Stephanie's arrest video. Number 1 she had left one bar and was on the way to another bar not home. She lied about everything and the scene was so sad, she had a body part hanging off the front of her car. I cant believe that school allowed her to graduate but thankfully the other students made enough protest about it that she couldnt walk with her class. Even at her trial she made it all about herself, that monster is 100% a pos selfcentered narcissist and her parents had a big hand in that. That officer held it together so much better than I would have that's for sure. Thank God she will spend the next 14 years in prison thinking about why shes there
She actually admitted she wasn't done, at the beginning of the clip she says "I was just getting started!" Admitting that she was planning on getting MORE drunk and still gonna drive.

All of these stories are tragic, but the1st one hit me kinda hard. 😢 Whoever served that man that amount of alcohol should be charged crminally as well.
Stephanie think she is the most important thing in the universe. She is singing and joking after being told she killed 2 people. That officer is being so gracious with her. I know he is disgusted!
I cried so hard I vomited and had to have someone pick me up and come back later for my car the one time I hit a dog. She hit 2 whole people and is acting like everything is fine. It's just unreal.
Can’t believe she didn’t get more time for killing two people and that football star only got 2-10 years for that horrible death he caused not to mention a helpless dog
I didn't realize it until now, but of all the many sad things about Stephanie's case the fact that she was about to graduate as an RN and didn't even bother to try to help her victims or consider giving any medical aid at the scene, leaving untrained bystanders to do it is pretty low. Shock may have been a factor, but she seems fairly chill about the whole situation.
My mom got hit by a drunk driver who died instantly. Luckily my mom, step dad and brother, and sister were ok. The drunk driver was my aunt. She was driving a separate vehicle and crashed into her own sister, my mother. I miss my aunt every day. It ruined my relationship with my cousins who were my best friends growing up. My mom lived, their mom died. You never know who is in the other vehicles.
I don’t even know if a simple “I’m sorry”, even begins to cut it… I can’t imagine how awful that was for your family and I am very sorry that happened. ❤
That asshole got 3-10 years just because his money could buy him that. If it was someone without all that money, it would be 21 to life.A completely broken system!
You can: 1) call an uber/taxi 2) get a designated driver 3) not drink, if the above are unavailable You can literally call somebody to pick you up and drive you home for like $40 from an app. Multiple apps. You don’t need to leave the bar or your house drunk.
The first one made me cry…..same thing happened to my grandpa. When my mom was only 2, a drunk driver hit them so hard, 2 blocks from their house, that it flipped the car over and killed my grandpa. My grandma, mom, and uncle survived, but grandma was in the hospital for months and Mom was thrown out the window. Destroyed our family. My grandpa was only in his 20’s.
8:10 It wasn't just her innocent life lost, but also that of her dog. Who cares about the loss of his NFL career? I care more about the dog than I do about his career. He clearly didn't deserve it considering he is still left with more than some people will ever get to have, including the woman and dog he just killed.
When they said he had this promising life ahead of him & he does this sheer braindead act to drink, then drive...it defies all logic, all common sense. You do this only because you have the belief you are entitled, you can do no wrong. His horrible attitude killed innocent ppl.
Unfortunately they cut slack for who they want to. How many lives has Justin Bieber and other so called artist endangered and yet they come out clean with fines and charges than don't affect them in any capacity. It's truly sickening.
Hasn't stopped careers before if you have enough talent. Look at Micheal Vick. If the guy gets out after 2 years or so, he will be playing for the NFL in no time.
Stephanie’s case happened in my hometown. Bradley is considered a prestigious school which is why she was like “how could this happen to me, I go to Bradley” there was a humongous uproar over her walking the stage to receive her diploma. She hadn’t been “proven guilty” yet. So many people rioted her right to cross the stage.
Ehhh. It's not "prestigious" when it comes to ranking but for the Peoria area, sure it's a good private university. There aren't many choices in Central IL. Bradley is on the edge of the worst part of town, it's certainly not safe off campus. Few people are clamoring to go to Bradley unless they're locals.
They were. In Texas, the servers and the bars themselves can and will be charged along with losing their license to serve. If I remember correctly, the server got a year in jail.
The bar shouldn't been allowed to even serve one person that much. This is horrible. The Stephanie girl had no remorse what so ever. Even said they hit her car. Was even more worried about school than 2 deceased people.
About 30 years ago, I witnessed a pickup clip of a tractor-trailer and flip over. I stopped to render aid, and OMG, the car was full of empty and full beer cans. I saw an empty baby seat in the back seat of the truck. I put my hand around the driver's neck without thinking and yelling at him where is the baby. When the police pulled me off him, they told me there was no baby and that I was free to go. I think I snapped, and my hand automatically went around the drunk driver's neck after seeing an empty baby seat and thinking a baby got injured or worse. I still remember the day as if it was yesterday. I am so glad there was no baby in the pickup truck.
Questio,VERY big question. WHY did the bar serve him 16 SHOTS, the bartender who served him should have been arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact.
The bartender's negligence contributed to the accident happening so I don't think it could be considered an accessory after the fact. I can't remember what the charge for this would be but it should be something.
It’s basically the same reason gun shop owners aren’t responsible for somebody using a gun they bought there to kill someone. When you legally sell someone a product, you’re not responsible for someone choosing to do an illegal action with it (this is all from a purely legal perspective)
@@damonedrington3453except when it comes to alcohol it totally does, depending on the state. In California it definitely comes into play. @@damonedrington3453except you’re completely wrong. the bartender did get in trouble. Like even if they aren't held responsible for the DUI, over serving is still illegal in most of America to my knowledge. They should at least be tried for over serving.
She was charged because the person killed was an off duty cop. This happened in my town. This wasn’t his first DUI he had one months prior and was let go. He has a cousin who is a cop in our town. I went to school with his cousin.

I used to work in an insurance company here in France and unfortunately, we faced some tragic cases of accidents implying bodily injuries or death. Remember that when you have an accident while DUI, your insurer will pay compensation to the victims and family BUT they will pursue you afterwards to be paid back. You lose e-ve-ry-thing. Compensation for bodily injuries are very, very high (though less than in the USA as I know). We had the sad case of a man who died in a car accident on the motorway, while DUI. He managed first to get off of his car but then he was hit by a big lorry. His body damaged the lorry. Not only his widow got nothing from the insurer, but she had to pay the price for the repair of the lorry... I had to explain that to her. It was one of the worst moment in my carreer. 😔 I don't know the law in the USA, but here, after a car accident, a bartender and even you or me can be sued if we let someone leave the premises/home and we know that this person is too drunk too drive. All my thoughts for the victims and their family and friends. 🌹
I couldn’t pass the FST I have vertigo and I’m not a balanced person at all to begin with so I agree with that. Straight to a breath test or blood test for me.
The field sobriety tests are used as additional evidence of impairment. Not all driving impairment is alcohol related. FSTs are generally voluntary statewide, but declining them does increase the probable cause an officer has to make a DU😮I arrest and depending on the state it can result in actions against the driver’s license. There’s a lot of criticism over the criteria of FSTs and the lack of training involved in administering them as well as the belief that they are designed to be failed. Essentially, it’s more likely they are used as a tool to support an already suspected DUI case should there be any legal argument against breathalyzer or blood alcohol test results.
@@bambi7521if you were ever in a situation where you were asked to perform field sobriety tests you could inform the officer of your medical conditions so it’s recorded. You can also decline the tests and request the blood or breath test instead. The FSTs are not mandatory. A good defense attorney will argue on your medical behalf as well should you fail a FSTs since the science and criteria behind them has been challenged many times. Most sober people could not even pass them.
When I was 17 the one and only time I’ve ever driven my car while drunk I was hating myself the entire time and I got home safely without any damage to others and that was 11 years ago and I still regret that act. I can’t fathom what made me make that decision looking back and is one of the many reasons I stopped drinking at all in 2020.
I drove drunk once in my early twenties. I got a few blocks from the bar, nearly went over a median during a turn, and immediately pulled over. I called a friend to come pick me up (a sober friend.) Best decision of my life. In the twenty years since, I’ve thought of that night many times when I was tempted. I legitimately thought I was fine that night when I got behind the wheel, just a little buzzed.
Bartenders who overserve should be held accountable and charged with something. It seems they usually don't. Bartenders should be trained to assess how drunk a person is or how much alcohol they've consumed in an hour and go from there.
In high school we had a driving class. They asked us "what is the legal alcohol limit for you in Illinois to drive?" and many of my peers fell for the trick question and said 0.08. But as a high schooler, the legal limit is 0, as we are under the drinking age. Personally, I would never touch a drop of alcohol if I had to drive that day at all.
I have driven hundreds of times drunk and I Thank God daily I never hurt anyone. I now have 30 years sober and I still feel there's absolutely no excuse for driving after drinking - period. That said I know you will never keep the alcoholic off the road - being responsible is not in the alcoholic's handbook. All we can count on is diligent booze servers, responsible friends and tough laws. With Uber and Lyft now absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving.
It is ridiculous to expect "booze servers, responsible friends and tough laws" to keep you from becoming drunk. It is YOUR job to control yourself and not be a drunk. How childish you are.
@user-wh5ir4fo4r That is good, if you open your mouth to keep a friend from getting drunk, and it is good if a server also refuses to serve a drunk. One of my friends who was 18 and I was 19, he did a lot of drunk driving and got plenty of DUI’s. Often he would only drive out in the country but he would reach insane speeds. We’re talking 140-150mph, and he ended up taking his own life not by crashing however. So it seems to me looking back on it, he did that as a form of escapism and he wanted to die but never ended up crashing. Instead he took his own life. Then it all hit me the reason why he did such things, or wanted to go into the military. And I think there was some element to it that he left out because he always said he wanted to die young, ever since I met him when he was only 15 years old. Something was getting him down one night and he said there was one thing he couldn’t ever share with us when he started talking about death. We told him we could never fathom losing him, and on one occasion he admitted to me that he played Russian roulette but survived once. He might’ve admitted the reason to me once and I don’t know the details or specifics, but it pertains to a time when his dad had to shoot someone dead in order to protect him. He was a little kid when this happened and he was not proud of his family. It all started going downhill for him when his gramps passed away too. That’s when he started smoking weed and drinking.
3-10 years for killing someone who's proven to be over the limit and speeding is sickening. No deals should be made that's not justice, that's someone's sister, daughter, or mother. Never will they love or beloved or make a difference to the world. Reduced justice to save money for the court. Don't tell me there's no price for someone's life
These videos always give me chills. As a former addict, I drove high or drunk or both pretty much every day for nearly a decade. Eventually, the inevitable happened and I was in a serious wreck. 2 crushed vertebrae, 4 broken ribs, broken nose, concussion...it was bad. But thankfully, it was a single vehicle accident. I thank God that I didn't hurt or kill someone else. I couldn't imagine having to live with that. Driving under the influence is never worth it. It doesn't matter how 'experienced' you are or if you're just buzzed or whatever, it's a terrible idea that will end in tragedy eventually. I've made similar posts on videos like this before. It's not something I'm proud of but if it keeps 1 person from making that terrible decision, then it'll be worth it.
I drove fucked up on the reg for around 20 yrs, never even had a DUI. But the difference between me and most of these people, was that I was super careful, didn’t speed, and paid extra attention to everything. Last thing I wanted was a dui.
That bartender should be ashamed of themself. Serving someone 16 shots in the middle of the day in an empty bar…then letting them walk out with their keys.
A drunk driver killed one of my best friends. He was only 28 years old and he never even made it to the hospital. He had just begun a career as a teacher. His whole life ahead of him. And just like that he was gone forever. All because of a drunk *IDIOT* who'd been caught doing it at least once before but hadn't learned his lesson. He survived and I think he got a prison sentence, but it won't bring my friend back. Miss you always, Alexander.
It’s not “vehicular manslaughter” it’s “brutal murder”. We shouldn’t be treating it as anything less; when you get behind the car drunk, it’s intentional, because you INTENTIONALLY drank that alcohol. Barring people who get drugged without consent somehow, 0 tolerance. It. Is. MURDER.
I don't think the semantics at that point alter the sentence. It differs from premeditated harm/murder, as the issue with drunk drivers, is that they believe they won't hurt anybody and aren't going to end up being one of those who hurt or kill others whilst drunk driving.
@@gSWG3R It's easily second degree murder. Second degree murder is a criminal law term that describes the killing of another human being without premeditation, but with intent. Second degree murder may also refer to a death caused by an individual’s negligent or reckless conduct.
I'd agree if there were injuries in your DUI. No panel will result in any behavior modification if you aren't a regular offender. All these tragic tales won't mean anything to you if you got popped going 25 mph 2 blocks from home cuz you forgot to put your headlights on.
Had a buddy back in the early 90s jump outta the passenger side of my truck going down the street because he got pissed that I wouldn’t take him a town away to get his weed. He was a cowboy and when he hit the concrete I could see sparks coming off his belt buckle in my rear view mirror, other than being scraped up pretty good he was ok.
I almost felt sorry for the girl in the second case. While she was certainly guilty of DUI, her friend is one who jumped out of the car. The girl will have to live with that for the rest of her life, and that is more than enough punishment.
I came to the comments to say that. I get she was drinking and driving but she didn’t kill her friend! Her friend killed her self by jumping out of a moving vehicle!
The girl that hit 2 ppl only got 14 yrs. Her family has connections. I'm a local where this happened. She got married and pregnant while out on bond. Her new husband cares for their daughter
Yup, I heard that too; absolutely unbelievable!! But just goes to show that a selfish person is exactly what she is, to the core, bc she willingly brought a child into this world, knowing that she would be able to do nothing related to raising them for the first part of their life. She might literally be one of the worst people I’ve ever seen in my life! I feel very sorry for her child!
i was a bartender for over 35 years, college bars, nightclubs, the Las Vegas Strip, and am always disgusted by bartenders/bar managers that over serve. They are effectively saying that a tip or a returning customer is more valuable than a human life. they are every bit as guilty as the drunk driver, more perhaps more because they are trained to spot signs of intoxication. I was known as the Cut Off Queen. Best. Title. Ever
You are a hero. You did your part, the best you could. You had a conscience about ppl you don't even know. Too few ppl appreciate that until they or someone they know is hit by a drunk. My late ex-husband was a model driver. He was a supervisor of bill collectors. Everybody around Ron looked up to him. He always appeared straight & sober & sane. Few of our friends saw Ron drunk. He was a functional drunk, probably helped he was an ex-Marine. Because I was married to him for 18 miserable months, I got to see how he lived to drink. I don't understand how the bartender at the bar Ron went to NEVER stopped him from driving home at 2am repeatedly. Drunks have their favorite "watering hole." That bartender wasn't you.
I agree with you - it is terrible that she said her car got hit, rather than that she hit someone. Total lack of responsibility. I wish they gave her more years in prison than she got. Heartless person.
@@scorpion-lg4ic I CAN tell another grown adult what words they can or cannot say if they are NOT mature enough to know on their own what is appropriate and what is NOT appropriate.
I don’t know why they use the term vehicular manslaughter. These people made the decision to drink and drive and they all know the risks. This is murder.
Legally speaking you have to be trying to take someone's life to be charged with murder. Knowing the risk isn't intent to take a life, that's why it's being called manlughter most of the time. You will notice on the last one the cop told her she was charged with vehicular homicide.
The pain and anger when he yelled "You killed someone!" is chilling
Yeah dude that put me down a rabbit hole for sure
Heartbreaking 💔
I had seen that clip before but had no idea someone died! I thought he just hit a pole and the guy was shouting "you WILL kill somebody!"
What's chilling about that too is the accident had just happened. The person's injuries had to be so catastrophic and incompatible with life that the bystander knew there was no way they survived. Just horrid.
Right?
I know bartenders deal with a lot, and everyone is responsible for themselves but to allow someone to have SIXTEEN shots is also irresponsible.
That’s what saying man, they played a role too
Thats what I don't get. No mention of that bar facing consequences for allowing him to leave driving a car.
I just don't think a bartender should be held responsible for the actions of a patron. You said it yourself that an adult is responsible for their own actions.
If bars had to micro manage everyone it would be awful. All cars should have built in breathalysers that won’t start unless you pass
People getting 10-15 yrs for literally killing people is insanity to me

@@michdoug1 thats truly sad.
She’s living , breathing , evil. I’ve never seen someone so sociopathic.
Oh it gets better if you look it up. daddy got her out and it was shown online she was out drinking and partying . Then her and daddy got mad because they didn't want her to walk to get her NURSING degree. It’s 100% his fault, but as a bartender, I cannot imagine serving someone 16 shots, let alone watching them go to their car and drive off without calling the cops
Same, that’s wild. It’s possible his friends bought him drinks or he just took other’s drinks.
The bartender should be held responsible for the wreck too! They could have stopped it.
In my area of Canada, whoever served him could also be held responsible. I’m not entirely sure on what the consequences actually are. However, when one is getting licensed to serve alcohol, they pound it into your head that you’re liable for over serving and/or drunk driving.
yeah thats crazy, its the guys fault but if the bartender intervened it wouldnt of happened
I've taken keys and/or stopped serving several times. When someone is impaired, they obviously don't make good decisions. Even if there isn't a legal duty, there's definitely a moral duty to step in, in my opinion.
I absolutely have no empathy for drunk drivers

My parents were hit by a drunk driver when i was 10
They didn’t die but my dad was left severely disabled.
And judge’s reward drunks with light sentences despite death and horrible injuries.

DUI needs stronger penalties in the US, so many repeat offenders just keep driving drunk.
Absolutely agree.
If stronger penalties works, there should be very few DUI in the US …
Because Alcohol consumption is considered the norm. “ Everyone drinks “ is a common misconception. “ Everyone gets a little tipsy when they drink , it’s just having fun . No harm.” Another misconception. People who drink to excess feel great about it and don’t want to stop before they are certifiably intoxicated.
We have laws on the books it’s just judges who agree to plea agreements for light sentences even when someone is killed

He should have been jailed.
So sorry to hear this , our system is not protecting the innocent
Fortunately, the laws have gotten much tougher since then, but I'm sure that's little comfort to you. I'm sorry that happened to you!!!

Stephanie's behavior disgusts me about the same as the 19 year old that threw her newborn in the garbage at the hospital
It's weird you say that bc I have myself thought of them together. Maybe it's bc they look similar or maybe bc they both are so cluelessly stupid.
Oh the chick in the hospital was vile. Her mother was an idiot as well

I didn't realize it until now, but of all the many sad things about Stephanie's case the fact that she was about to graduate as an RN and didn't even bother to try to help her victims or consider giving any medical aid at the scene, leaving untrained bystanders to do it is pretty low. Shock may have been a factor, but she seems fairly chill about the whole situation.
she was a sociopath.
She would've been a terrible nurse. Even 28 years isn't enough for the likes of her.
she also thought in her own mind that a 5/10 drunk was acceptable. absolutely psycho.
That's some final fantasy shit right there.

You can:
1) call an uber/taxi
2) get a designated driver
3) not drink, if the above are unavailable
You can literally call somebody to pick you up and drive you home for like $40 from an app.

What a heartbreaking story may he rest in peace with the angels bless his heart.❤
How terrible. I am so sorry.
I wish drunk driving was taken more seriously. It's like getting drunk and randomly firing a gun in public.
Americans seem to worship sports people. The amount they're paid reflects this.
Unfortunately they cut slack for who they want to. How many lives has Justin Bieber and other so called artist endangered and yet they come out clean with fines and charges than don't affect them in any capacity. It's truly sickening.
2-10 years, the race card is powerful!
I’m glad that they rioted. She is a vile excuse for a human being.
Man I would love to see that video
Hope she got booed.
It's better to just all stand and turn their back on her as she walks...don't give her attention because that type of person thrives on it.
Ehhh. It's not "prestigious" when it comes to ranking but for the Peoria area, sure it's a good private university. There aren't many choices in Central IL. Bradley is on the edge of the worst part of town, it's certainly not safe off campus. Few people are clamoring to go to Bradley unless they're locals.
Stephanie got ten years!!!! Money and connections help out a lot it seems
Money, connections, and not being male gets you to otherwise impossible places in court
As a former bartender, How in the hell was the bar not responsible for over-serving the 1st person?!!!
They were. In Texas, the servers and the bars themselves can and will be charged along with losing their license to serve. If I remember correctly, the server got a year in jail.
that happened in a case in AZ too up by Flagstaff
The bar shouldn't been allowed to even serve one person that much. This is horrible. The Stephanie girl had no remorse what so ever. Even said they hit her car. Was even more worried about school than 2 deceased people.
I couldn’t believe she said they hit her car. She is one sickening individual.
The scary thing is just because the baby wasn't in the truck that day doesn't mean he didn't drive drunk with the baby in the car other days. 😕

I worked at a drug store and were told that if we sold someone alcohol while seeing that they’re intoxicated could lead to our arrest. If they got into an accident or hurt someone with their vehicle after buying alcohol from us, we would be responsible.
@@damonedrington3453except you’re completely wrong. the bartender did get in trouble. People who sell firearms don’t get in trouble when people go out and kill someone w it BECAUSE guns are used for things like hunting, or self defense. Yeah I get the innocent until proven guilty thing but if you get behind the wheel you're guilty.
This isn't manslaughter, it's murder.
You don't know what murder is do you
Murder implies/requires intent. All of these are manslaughter.
@@ic6812There are lots of different classifications for murder, including 1st 2nd and 3rd degree along with manslaughter. Intent and degree of planning is usually what will classify it as one or the other.
You could technically argue an intent to drive while intoxicated is an intent to reap the consequences of what happens behind the wheel, so.. drunk drivers still don’t get any sympathy from me.
The moment the bottle or can touches your lips you accept the consequences of whatever you do in your blacked out state
That’s not how laws work bro
That Stephanie girl was absolutely shocking !! To be so damn oblivious to killing 2 people is something I can't comprehend. I think she deserved the maximum sentence of 28 years personally considering her actions.

“You see what you did?!” Gave me chills.
In the first one, the bartender should be charged as an accessory. Giving someone by themselves 16 shots during the day and letting him drive off?
Surprised they didn’t charge her with something
Right? Wildly irresponsible and I hope they feel just as guilty!
Although I’m not a bartender, even I know bartenders can refuse service, all businesses can in the US. Any human being would know that’s to much.
Never been a bartender but hearing they let thy first man have 16 shots and making him leave after seeing how beyond messed up he was is insane to me. How could they let him leave in that state?? Maybe call him a cab?? Call the police they should of known that was going to end terribly and it did😢
I did a piece for my university’s news paper about a student who was supposed to be in my freshman class but was killed in a car accident the summer before when a drunk driver struck the car he was in. Funny, because alcoholism, substance abuse and domestic abuse is rampant among LEO's. How many cops did your Dad bust?
In San Antonio it’s the cops who get busted for driving drunk

I don't know the law in the USA, but here, after a car accident, a bartender and even you or me can be sued if we let someone leave the premises/home and we know that this person is too drunk too drive.
All my thoughts for the victims and their family and friends. 🌹
I’ve read once before in a comment section that cops need to skip their games and go straight to the breathalyzer. I agree.
The field tests serve to back up the evidence against any claim that the breathalyser test was wrong. They also do blood tests at the hospital.
Breathalyzer doesn’t pick up other substances that impede driving.
They pulled that trick on us too. Except this was in the 80s and the drinking age was 18.

Congrats on your sobriety! Your DUI may have been a blessing in disguise!

16 shots? That bartender is just as guilty as the driver.
You dont know the definition of murder do you
@@gSWG3R It's easily second degree murder. Second degree murder is a criminal law term that describes the killing of another human being without premeditation, but with intent. Second degree murder may also refer to a death caused by an individual’s negligent or reckless conduct.

The bar should be held liable as well. Who the hell serves someone 16 shots in the morning, sees them stagger around, and then lets them drive away?
I almost felt sorry for the girl in the second case. While she was certainly guilty of DUI, her friend is one who jumped out of the car. The girl will have to live with that for the rest of her life, and that is more than enough punishment.

Drunks have their favorite "watering hole."
That bartender wasn't you.

Just found this channel and I love the content! Love how you told these stories, gained a new sub!
Did she seriously describe her hitting someone. As "one person came out in front of me, and all of a sudden my car got hit?" Oh my goodness, really?😮
That's how you describe hitting a deer; not 2 fucking pedestrians.
@@FoxSullivan Do NOT use the vulgar "f" word when describing the two innocent people who were killed.

Agree with your comment.
Murder requires intent
Legally speaking you have to be trying to take someone's life to be charged with murder. Knowing the risk isn't intent to take a life, that's why it's being called manlughter most of the time.
You will notice on the last one the cop told her she was charged with vehicular homicide.
Yea, they made a negligent choice that resulted in a death… that’s literally what manslaughter means
