Thank you for a very informative video. I thought a fuel pump had to replaced and not able to be repaired. A fuel pump for my 2000 Vulcan Nomad 1500G is $350!
Amazing masterclass, i'm having thoubles with mine (honda pc800) same pump. 2 questions: 1 where did you get the spare part? 2 why first time you set ignition the pump sounds but the second time no?
I used the: Tourmax FPS-900. For your 2e question, when the carburators are filled, the pump 'stops' pumping. When the engine is running the pump keep the carburators filled by a pump every few seconds
I have a Vmax 1200 that uses a very similar fuel pump. It seems to be working, but it is leaking gas when the bike is on. I removed the pump and tightened the screws but the leak didn't stop. Do these pumps have seals that I can change? Thank you in advance
Question can you show the modification you did to the fuel pump to let it run with key not with crank. i have a fuel pump issue and know someone did that mod. i need to know how to make sure the mod is still working. can you help me
Excellent tutorial thank you, i have a ktm 950 adventure and will be carrying spare contact points and hobby small soldering kit with me now, much smaller and lighter than a fuel pump, much cheaper too A++++
@@TheOldMechanicHi. Great job and lovely bike. I am also interested to do that mod on my Kawasaki ZX1100(ZZR-1100 C3). Can you please tell me which 2 wires should i connect together on the fuel pump relay? Thank you in advance
The original circuit designed by kawasaki prevents the fuel spillage in case of motorcycle fall. With your modification the fuel will be pumped even if the engine will stop after falling down.
Hi, nope even in the old situation, if the bike falls, and the engine keeps running the pump keeps working as the bike has no sensor to detect if the bike is on its side, on the ground. 😉
I assume the Vulcan is fed by carburetors like my ZZR 1200. The engine cannot keep running with horizontal motorcycle, just because the carburetors bowls would empty despite the fuel pumps. Both main and needle jets will not get the fuel and the engine will stop in few seconds. You will experience just the spillage of the fuel which was present in the carb. bowls.
Thank you so much for this video. I am currently resurrecting my 1999 Vulcan identical to the one in your video. I love that modification and intend to do this tomorrow. Seems like it would be a much better idea for Kawasaki to have it like your modification. Would save lots of wear and tear on the starter. Again, thank you.
1 What type of fuel pump did you use?
2 How many "psi" is the fuel pump that you put on the motorcycle? thank you.
