"The Fugitive" is my favorite television show of all time. I taped the entire series commercial-free in chronological order when the reruns were shown on A&E many years ago. I cry for Richard Kimble in the two-part episode called, "The Judgment," when he finally catches up with Fred Johnson, the one-armed man, who is shot and killed by Lt. Gerard. I love the ending when Dr. Kimble leaves the courthouse, shakes hands with Lt. Gerard and watches a parking police car, knowing he no longer has to fear the police. "Tuesday, August 29th...the day the running...stopped!"
David Janssen is one of the most inventive, resourceful actors in television. He has a thrilling reality about him that you seldom see anymore. As an American actor/ screenwriter, I tip my hat to him.. A million best wishes, David..
According to IMDB, Patrick Macnee (of The Avengers) asserted that "The best television actor by far of anybody was David Janssen." (They do not put it in quotation marks; I did because I am quoting them.)

Watch The Fugitive growing up with my parents & brother. It was my Mom favorite program. I recalled our neighbors across the street when they went on vacation.vthey saw the man who played Lieutenant Gerard. The neighbor wife told him he got the wrong man. Doctor Richard Kimbell is innocent.
While hearing this theme song after all these many decades, I was hit with a powerful wave of nostalgia. It was almost palpable. I recall how me and my friends would discuss each episode the next day. This was a superbly developed show, and all the episodes ended on a very bittersweet note; Richard Kimble escaped another close call...
The reason that UA did not get all the TV rights to _The Fugitive_ was because of the special contract devised by the show's creator, Roy Huggins (he had this idea after Warner Bros. Television had denied him his credit as the creator on shows like Maverick and 77 Sunset Strip). UA's rights were thus limited, under this contract, only to the original broadcast run. Syndication by ABC Films (Worldvision Enterprises from 1973-1999, Paramount Domestic Television from 1999-2006, and CBS Television Distribution since 2007) and Warner Bros. as the studio for the 1993 film (and the 2000 TV series) were covered under those same special rights Huggins wrote in his contract.
"The name: Dr. Richard Kimble. The destination: Death Row, state prison. The irony: Richard Kimble is innocent. Proved guilty, what Richard Kimble could not prove was that moments before discovering his murdered wife's body, he saw a one-armed man running from the vicinity of his home. Richard Kimble ponders his fate as he looks at the world for the last time, and sees only darkness. But in that darkness, fate moves its huge hand."
The first few season 1 episodes had a much longer narrative: "Name: Richard Kimble. Profession: Doctor of medicine. Destination: Death Row, State Prison. Richard Kimble has been tried and convicted for the murder of his wife. But laws are made by men, carried out by men. And men are imperfect. Richard Kimble is innocent. To those of us, fortunate to have been old enough to see television like this, we remember. Today, I do not even own a television and if it's not on my android phone, I do not see it.
Oh, I don't know about that. Shakespeare was very much of his time, and most of his plays were well written soap operas, full of overblown characters and absurd situations. If he was here, writing in modern English, he'd probably have several hit series on TV.
If I remade this series, the one thing I'd change is that we'd never be 100% sure Kimble was innocent. Keep the audience guessing until the last episode.

The funniest thing is that I was born in the 70s and had no idea that the 1993 film starring Harrison Ford was based on a TV show until I started reading reviews!
Ongoing narratives are the norm for modern television. In fact, it's a rarity to find a drama in episodic form, like The Twilight Zone or Star Trek. Back in the day, if you missed an episode, you could easily tune in the following week and not miss a beat. It had to be that way without recording devices. The Fugitive boldly asked - demanded, really - audiences to tune inevery single week. Yes, it told a different contained tale each episode, but the ongoing plot with the One-Armed Man and Lt. Gerard keep viewers on their toes. The network was initially skeptical to even try such a concept. It blazed a trail for similarly structured shows like The X-Files.
Some outstanding production elements have been lost. I like the impressionistic art work at the end has been lost in the TV production world today. And William Conrad's voice no more. Alas. I like Pete Rugolo's music. I like the original FBI theme a lot better though, It might be a theme and variations suite.
To any boomers curious about anime, I recommend the series "Monster" by Naoki Urasawa. It's way more like The Fugitive in tone and subject matter than something like Pokemon or Sailor Moon, etc. Monster is a classic Crime, Mystery, Psychological thriller, but animated.
The timeline in the series is 6 years between Kimbles wifes murder, or 5 years ( length of series) or mentioned in the last season episodes of 3 years or 4 years? Gerard said in interrogating the one armed man in the last episode that Mrs. Kimbles murder happened in September 1961. Trials usually take a year to to occur and months to complete. That would put Kimbles escape in late 1962 and his final freedom in September 1967. So what is it?
At that time, most of the Japanese loved Kimble's personality. However, when Japanese company invited David Jansen, he kept saying money, monay, money, really disappinted. I liked Barry Moth (spelling correct?), as well.
originally William Conrad was going to be the fugitive....but he kept getting caught in the door while trying to escape from Girard then ripping his pants while trying to climb a fence....so they picked a slimmer fugitive...😃😃😃
THE GUEST STARS IN TONIGHT'S STORY JOANNA MOORE PHILIP E. PINE AND SPECIAL GUEST STAR BARBARA BAXLEY ALSO STARRING BARRY MORSE AS LIEUTENANT PHILIP GERARD TONIGHT'S EPISODE NOBODY LOSES ALL THE TIME
Why can't today's young people and parents of school age kids be made to see this series? What's wrong with seeing quality television and a drama series like this to today's youth? I think that many people would agree that it is a great idea! Not caring about the past, and seeing how the world used to be and how people were is terribly wrong! Television especially from the great 1960s was really that good, but don't take my word for it but it is a proven fact Period!!!!!
Retro TV is an option on many cable packages. There are ways to see these old shows if the parents prioritize it. Most parents don't though. My parents sat and watched the shows that were popular at the time when I was a kid. Happy Days, The Six Million Dollar Man, Chips,.Laverne and Shirley, Kung Fu, Gunsmoke etc. They didn't feel the need to have me watch reruns of the shows they grew up with. Why would today's parents be any different ?
@@Boxingbear Because today's television is horrible and full of reality bullshit and murder and violence worse than years ago. Young people need to be introduced to old television shows or hear about shows of years ago so they can see how good they were before it's too late!!!!!
@@scottmiller6495 I hear you. Instead of Leave It To Beaver or Beverly Hillbillies we have Walking Dead and 30 Day Fiancé. Its fucked up. I dont have kids but if I did I would encourage them to watch older TV shows too. But most parents can't be bothered.

Talent.
Some outstanding production elements have been lost. I like the impressionistic art work at the end has been lost in the TV production world today. And William Conrad's voice no more. Alas. I like Pete Rugolo's music. I like the original FBI theme a lot better though, It might be a theme and variations suite.
A favorite 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dang! Did you have a secret mic in the booth when William Conrad was recording or what?? ❤❤❤❤❤
It was not me! It was the one armed man!"
-Jim Carey
Most watched final episode(in 2 parts"the verdict"),in american tv history,which ran for 4 years!
The Judgement!
At that time, most of the Japanese loved Kimble's personality. However, when Japanese company invited David Jansen, he kept saying money, monay, money, really disappinted. I liked Barry Moth (spelling correct?), as well.
originally William Conrad was going to be the fugitive....but he kept getting caught in the door while trying to escape from Girard
then ripping his pants while trying to climb a fence....so they picked a slimmer fugitive...😃😃😃
He saw a one armed man running away from the Cementry!!!!!
In da house too good ty.

@@scottmiller6495 When The Walking Dead is the number one show on television its a pretty good reflection of where society is at. Sonny and Cher used to be the number one show lol
@@Boxingbear Thank you for that!
"Curb Your Enthusiasm", the "Car Periscope" episode brought me here (sea. 8, epi. 8).

I wonder if the show's appeal has to do with feeling that we fear being found out and are running from our true selves.
A LAST TIME FAVORITS */.§.
1952
David Janssen and not Harrison Ford was the Fugitive. Just like Jeff Bridges saying John Wayne and not he was the real Reuber "Rooster" Cogburn.
An innocent victim of blind justice. Falsely convicted for the murder of his wife. Reprieved by fate when a train wreck freed him en route to the death house. Freed him to hide in lonely desperation. To change his identity. To toil at many jobs. Freed him to search for a one-armed man he saw leave the scene of the crime. Freed him to run before the relentless pursuit of the police lieutenant obsessed with his capture.
People took this show so seriously in the 60s that there were vigilante groups going around America killing one-armed men
So why did you have to pay to allow that a universal music
The name:
Doctor Richard Kimble.
The destination:
DeathRow State Prison.
The Irony:
Richard Kimble is innocent.
Proved guilty what Richard Kimble could not prove was that moments before discovering his murdered wife's body,
he saw a One-Armed Man running from the vicinity of his home.
Richard Kimble ponders his fate as he looks at the world for the last time,
and sees only darkness.
But in that darkness fate moves it's huge hand.
Did the Law, ever Find out who DID MURDER the Fugitive's wife???

CANON
ABC was hesitant to make the final episode where Kimball is vindicated.
El kimble de harrison ford es distinto
Traduire en francais
The actor kind of looks like Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
funny thing-- the only "disguise" he ever used was to cover gray hair-- not mush-- he could have grown a beard, wore phony glasses
Only david could be that character, and said in an interview after it ended, that ìt brought him lots of money and property and investmemts etc,but "kimble"didn't help much in future projects!
Richard Kimble sure had a lot of grey hair for a man in his mid-30's.
So did Steve Martin. Prematurely grey.
In reality some individuals hair turns grey prematurely. Case in point the late and great actor Peter Graves.
