    Good video and thanks for mentioning me!
    The thing with cubing is there is so much to do and it's hard to know when to do what, and I'm definitely guilty of making an advanced tutorial while not specifying the prerequisite knowledge or what your approximate average should be before learning it.
    Learning look ahead early won't limit your potential, but it will take much more time and effort than learning it later (sub-20?)

      In general it's hard to cater to everyone's bad habits because people are always going to find it easy to ignore and overlook their worse habits out of laziness or self limiting beliefs
      Just keep making tutorials and hope people don't implement shit badly :P

    As a novice cuber, this idea is actually a relief to me! I’m gonna keep grinding on JPerm’s advanced F2L video which is beautiful because he verbally describes what is going on instead of relying on alg notation. This allows me to better translate the tactics into all four corners.

    Your previous video about planning first pair motivates me to practice it more. Your videos are motivating! I tried to be CN because to easier plan my first pair

    Yeah totally agree. I see so many people with great turning with no pauses but their pair solutions are so bad.

    Is there a quick way to reconstruct a solve for a basic white cross solver such as myself?

      Check the FAQ section of my Coaching Services section on my website, I have 2 reconstruction tools linked :)

    I feel like I'm in an awkward space of skill sets.
    To elaborate, I'm sub 20 sub-human, I know like 10 non-cross olls, I don't know V and G perms, I can plan/estimate f2l on easy cross and am feel like I don't do intuitive f2l, but not the most efficient method for each case. I also am able to utilize a bit of look ahead in most of my solves.
    I'm just stuck on how to progress after finishing PLL. Do I head on to OLL, optimize my F2Ls, look ahead etc. ?
    Perhaps I oughta get you, or someone else, to properly critique my solves :(
    Edit; I also feel like my F2L solutions are comparable to good solvers, and not completely trash is what I'm trying to say.

      Just finish pll and then try to get on an average 2-3sec cross and sub 10 f2l. LL will take care of itself as you learn algs I guess. I am sub 15 with probably less olls than you but full pll. I suck at learning oll.

    • @GreatDynamics
      @GreatDynamics 5 років тому

      I learnt full OLL and know 13 PLLs. I regret everything. If I was going to do it again, I would learn full PLL and just the easy OLLs. And just work on Cross and F2L look ahead.

    • @GreatDynamics
      @GreatDynamics 4 роки тому

      @Victor Giaquinto But the thing is, I don't practice nearly as much as I should so it was hard to not forget any or to have good recognition. I have resorted to 2 look oll (but in 1 look because i use jperms 2look method) and just know the dot algs. I still average the same times as i did so im good with that. But that's just me. You do whatever suits you.

    one thing i took from this was ignoring bad f2l pairs. my intuitive f2l is mostly efficient but i kind of fumble when i see a pair that i dont have a good solution for(this also is in line with what you said about learning the optimal solutions for each case). definitely going to try to think about this when i practice now, thanks for the vid

  • @alexf0101

    What if your pairs are efficient but they aren't fully muscle memory yet? Is just spamming solves and doing solve pair - find next pieces - solve pair etc a good practice method? Asking for a friend.

    • @JaydenMcNeill
      @JaydenMcNeill  5 років тому +1

      Maybe try bld practice where you blindfold yourself between steps
      When you get good try combining steps

    • @alexf0101
      @alexf0101 5 років тому

      @@JaydenMcNeill the trouble with doing the cases without looking is that the brain is still visualizing the pieces moving, so it won't help develop muscle memory. I think there's no choice but drill cases and/or spam solves until it does become muscle memory.

    • @JaydenMcNeill
      @JaydenMcNeill  5 років тому

      @@alexf0101 definitely try both
      familiarity over time via lots of solves will always been king
      I just find personally that when you force someone to take the time to think about where pieces are going for a short period of time, they quickly realise that it isn't so difficult to systemise where F2L pieces should be going, and that they've just kinda lacked the mindfulness to do so up until that point
      (Ie I don't think it makes much sense for someone to confuse R U' R' U2 R' U R with R U' R' y U R' U R if you actually just look at the cube and *think* a little bit)
