Awesome . The Walthers blue container trackside office on the substation is a look-a like to Pike Stuff models. That's what makes this hobby great & interesting. I enjoy watching. 👍
Tall line poles and towers always run along a cleared easement where trees and other obstructions won't interfere with the transmission lines. It's highly unusual to see them cross above tree tops. Food for thought. You have a very cool railroad, and it's evolving quite nicely!
Thanks. I know about the cleared corridors in the real world but I am concerned about losing the hidden horizon by having the sky backdrop meet the ground at the pole. I'll figure something out.
The way your road approaches the backdrop at an angle could serve the same purpose. And you could add a work crew doing some clearing to blur the line even more. Now tell me that's not a unique scene on a model railroad!@@QNERailroad
Great video, really like your layout. I really liked what you chose for the little building and the color for the substation it really makes it pop out but one thing is that I don't think they would run medium powered lines over a factory just something to think about keep up the good work
Ahhhh ……… the substation video has returned , along with high voltage transmission towers !! Sheldon , you can also model a single 3 phase circuit on what is called an “ H - Frame “ it built both in wood and steel , just google pictures of them ! One more thing…… there are no trees under transmission lines in right of way because risk of fire 🔥! Your high voltage friend, Kraig 😊
Thanks Kraig. Yes, I am familiar with H frames, but I liked the idea of a single pole base because of the tight clearances. I can also build the Walthers pole line as a suburban line with only three wires. Someone else mentioned about not having trees in the HV corridor, which I should have known, but I didn't want to open up a gap in the trees along the wall/backdrop because it would expose the hard line where the sky meets the grass, breaking the illusion of a distant horizon.
Hi Sheldon, Nice video as usual, I liked the multi content, for the High Voltage Towers, what if you just lined them up from the retired generating station over and along the tracks around the lake and kept them away from the tree line altogether, it would solve the corridor issue through the trees ? In hindsight, I would have drilled holes into the insulators and anywhere else where the wires would attach, then inserted the wires and secured them with a drop of CA, maybe might have made it easier ? P.S. Don't forget two or three yard lights for the sub station.
I have always enjoyed this layout and how well done it is. My question is will there at any point be any weathering on equipment, structures, etc. to add to the realism?
No surprise that this is the question I get asked the most (and its the one I dread). I'm quickly running out of other things that need to be done on the layout (my go-to excuse for not adding weathering to date). It's on the list, just not at the top yet. Thanks for watching.
@@QNERailroad I am sure you will do it at the highest level, as you have done everything else with this layout. I actually loved the building & weathering of motive power and rolling stock. There are so many online prototype photos and UA-cam how to videos.
I appreciate your channel and I always enjoy your opp sessions and the neatness of your layout & work. Can't wait for the next one. Take care
Thank you so much!

awesome substation!! superb modelling :)
Thank you.
Awesome layout. Love the bulkheads from Scaletrains. Nice loads as well
Thanks very much.
awesome layout thx for the share.😊😊👍👍👍
You're very welcome

Thanks, and I agree. I was just using the factory for comparison to show how short the poles are.

@@QNERailroad I hope you choose the single circuit 3 wire pole design. Please be sure to check them out to .
Beautiful layout! 👍👍

Thanks Joe, for your usual good insights.
Great update!!!
Thanks!
@@QNERailroad You're welcome!!
Sheldon where did you decide to put the terminals😊

You should, made right away around the power poles on the hill sides to void interference of the trees.
Thanks, I didn't think of that, but I would have to camouflage the blue backdrop somehow where it meets the ground.
Can you put the poles at the cross road or close to the signals
The windows are not lined up.
So when are you uploading the next video
Working on it ... hopefully before the end of the month.
Okay no problem i really enjoy your videos @@QNERailroad
