Super great video Tony and thanks for the shoutout I knew you would enjoy it. Along with the great trails system and beautiful scenery it's one of the best trails in SLO. So many more trails in that area to explore all with beautiful scenery. It's one of my favorite areas to ride. :)
Question for you Paul. Would you recommend parking by the 101 or driving up the dirt road and parking up there safety wise? I'm in this area a lot but it's always with camping stuff in my truck that I'd rather hold on to...
Well known to us Locals for sure. Anyone parking there needs to be extra careful of having anything valuable in their vehicle. Due to close proximity to HWY 101 it is pretty common to see quick smash and grabs.
Dude, this my favorite Outsider video! What a spectacular find! Respect to the builders for sure! Tony, you are an awesome story teller, an a super cool human being! I really appreciate your videos an all the places you bring us to! Thank you bro 🤟keep pedalin
I get to ride this trail from my house! I usually climb Shooters and hit Botanicals/Morning Glory on the return then session the skills park a bit. You picked the right time of year.
Those trails you find out in the middle of nowhere are always fun. Might be the best trails, but that feeling of being in a secluded place away from the rats race is amazing.
Tony, great video, thanks for sharing. I'll have to hit this place next time I do a road trip with my bike up the coast. I share your passion and motives for getting outdoors and seeing the scenery as you mention and ponder at 15:05 Prior to mtb, I was all about hiking, scrambling, climbing off-trail to bag peaks in the N. Cascade mountains around Seattle. My primary motive for getting out is to experience the many wonderful natural mountain settings. Once I moved to San Diego I was also blessed to have the opportunity to explore the hardcore desert and how are Eastern County. Desert sand is not the friendliest of surfaces for mountain biking, so I found having a plated enduro dirt bike was a great way to take in even more.
@@TheOutsiderMTB I just edited my comment because my stupid dictation software fouled it up :-) I was referring to the desert sand as a basis for dirt bike in the desert.
You gotta come back! Recently they built up a lot of the birms in the Eucs and added a few more jumps to both runs, as well as smoothing out certain parts too. Great video, thanks for sharing!
Rad!!! Sometimes I go to NorCal to see family. Now I’ll take the long way to hit this spot. Looks so fun. Thank you bro! Just did Sky Park for the first time on Saturday. I loved it but more importantly my wife and kids loved it. Even saw a magic show while there and chilled with a beer. So rad!!!
Great video! Sitting here in Santa Maria wanting to ride but no bike since I flew out to help my daughter during these crazy times. This was a good substitute and look forward to riding it one day! Thanks!
Such a great video. I have a couple project bikes that would love to go on this ride. Once they get rebuilt and myself in shape again. That would be a blast. There are a couple trails in Atascadero (I heard) but haven't seen. Thanks for sharing. Safe rides.
That’s exactly why I got into mountain biking, the adventure, the stuff you probably would never see, got some friends in SLO, gotta check this place out for sure 👍
Bombers is a ripper of a trail! I haven't thought about that trail in ages! I rode that way back in the day with the guys from Mountain Cycle, who used to be based out of SLO. Thanks for the video! 🤘😎🤘
On a road trip to escape COVID, and met local while riding Irish hills (highly recommended!!). He told me about tv tower because I was looking for campsite for night. Ended up pitching tent at top of elevator shaft. Beautiful sunset but trash everywhere SAD!. Did CCW loop of TV tower, botanical, morning glory and up shooters. Totally missed eucs section! Oh well - next time. I got into mtb for same reason as you - the views! While climbing shooters, I heard a cougar or mountain lion screaming (I was told they're mating). Blood curdling scream - not pleasant when climbing alone and tired!!!
Great place to ride, beautiful country. That "One camera shot" Ride Semenuk did in UnReal, in the green hills set to "For What it's Worth" was shot about 30 or 40 minutes north of where you are off of Hwy 1 in the Cambria area.
you found it! i rode that trail last october from campus, all uphill. i was pretty shot by the time i got to the eucs. i was all alone as well.... not a sole to be found all day long. beautiful place, was yellow when i was there however.
Nice find! We gotta try that one when we do our bikepacking trip from Portland to Los Angeles. Or whenever we go back up north! Also for those explorations, you should definitely have bike bags to take with you. I'm not saying that to sell you anything. But for safety as well. You can take food with you, warm clothing, tools, and even extra water! I rather lug around a bit extra weight to be on the safe side. But nice video, dude!

As an Australian it's really weird seeing all those eucalyptus trees! It really looks like a local trail for that reason. But apparently the trees are quite disliked in California? Because they are really well-respected here, and some of the older specimens are among the tallest trees in the world.
Interesting - I didn't know that. From a personal standpoint, I love them. Really adds to the landscape. Thanks for tuning in from the land down under! 😉
@slimeone you are correct, I've heard Californians disparage eucalyptus. They're referred to as "Roman candles " because the oil makes them burn so easily. You guys just had massive fires. Eucalyptus?
@@jitterspec Yeah basically all the native forest in Australia is Eucalyptus apart from rainforest and swamp areas. Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian ecosystem, with many species of trees seeds only sprouting after a fire. The Aboriginal people understood this and developed advanced strategic burning practices to help sustain a healthy balance in the environment which prevented fires from burning out of control. Unfortunately the land is no longer managed like this and much of the ancient knowledge has been lost.
Love this!! Ok, gotta hit this place but unfortunately I'm about 4 hrs away so seems good for a day trip and check the area out too. How long did it take you from the parking (car) to the actual bike park?
