A Frozen Lake, Garden of Peace, Expansions... all of Lonnie's work is comprised of timeless music that transcends generations in the form of a universal language.
That garden of piece rendition he played was heavenly One of the most unique and humble artists Love you, Lonnie.. Your music is and always be a source of inspiration Thanks for this video
Wow! The tune I remember the most was Enchantress. And the reason was that it was what got airplay on WNSB back when that radio station played jazz. That was you? Awesome! You were definitely punchin it up on that bass! I'll definitely make sure to check out the rest of the album
1st time I've ever heard the Jazz king , Legend Mr. Lonnie Liston Smith talk other than on an album! I thought he would be a little softer and cooler ! (Just my perception) ! Much ❤ To You Mr. Smith ! My Hat's Off To You ! Your musical gift has definitely enhanced and brought Joy to many lives ! I've followed you since the "70's ! Thank You for adding beauty to the journey. 🎉 ❤
My uncle introduced me to LLS when I was 14 yrs, as an aspiring artist, his music guided my life. At 62 now, it still does!! I have EVERY album...Renaissance!!
I loved this interview. Lonnie Liston Smith, after all these years, is still one of my favorite jazz musicians. I play his music often. One of my favorites is the song Starlight and You.
Great interview...respect to Lonnie a Giant of Jazz Fusion and loved here in the UK. I am really hoping someone can interview his brother Donald Smith who has one of the greatest male voices in muzik as far as i'm concerned and transforms and adds to his brother's tracks in outstanding fashion.
Hi, Mr. Smith. I absolutely love yo' music. You are such a gem. I just came to say *thank you.* Thank you for creating my kinda music. God bless. Be well.
Had to comment twice. At like the 25 mark when he starts playing his new spin on garden of peace was incredible. So dope how hip hop samples exposed a lot of the younger generation to his music, me included, and due to the hip hop samples he was inspired to "remix" his own work. I loved that as a hip hop head but more so as a fan of music in general.
Thank you for this. Lonnie Listen Smith is one of my jazz hero's. He's an unique sounding Musician, particularly from that 70s period. An honest, interesting, engaging and educational Interview from Mr Smith.
such a nice person, i met him back in the days on a concert in Zürich Switzerland. He was kind enough and signed all the records i have from his music ;-)
My mother was in DJ In college, so she had a lot of records. I remember going into her collection and falling in love with Lonnie Liston Smiths music. Singing For Love, Speak About It, and In The Park. I could go on and on. 🙏🏾❤️
The Foundation No thank you! The ‘hip hop influenced’ rendition of garden of peace he plays half way through is really incredible. Lonnie is such an important musician, from the spiritual stuff to the influence he had on modern music. great to hear him talk in such depth.
Bless you, Lonnie Liston Smith, your expansion LP, karma LP, With Pharaoh Sanders divine light, tune in search of eternal truth on your transformation. LP save me mentally and physically well done Lonnie Liston Smith.
I thank you, my brother for your contributions to art and music. The greatest music ever recorded. You should be proud. This music will live in last forever.
Own them both Found Visions for 25 cents years ago whilst digging through a crate in a pawn shop. Had never heard of Lonnie prior to that, shamefully.. Saw the cover, read a few credits in the back, read fender rhodes and thought this has to be good.. To this day Visions stands as a top 5 album amidst thousands of records owned. So unique.. Share your sentiments on both albums, but Visions will stand on its own 100 years from now Undervalued and promoted artist I was shocked I stumbled across him by sheer accident
LONNIE !!! ETERNAL SOUL with the most impeccable notes. really good video. its so nice to be able to see the legend talk about the jazz scene and the reaction to the crate diggers and samples. it is crazy to have that eternal music speaking to the masses. Richmond is so underrated with all the talents coming out of that city
