VW Player here, TheLawYGO made a mistake on that last game. You cannot summon Tzolkin under Shenshen since the materials need to be sent to GY.
Also in the first game, would the psy frames not have been banished as they were under lancea?
Correct. But it didn’t matter. 2 level 6 into Utopia Beyond was also game anyways.
He could have also just ordered it differently to summon Shenshen last and did everything else first. I don’t believe zones would be clogged in anyway.

@@walkerscoral the junior journey rules are from when the game was originally released and has no tributes required for any normals and you're only allowed to play one spell and set one card per turn

At 16:32 the damage taken from utopia beyond would have been negated via secure gardina effect but still a great end to round 1 (as an IDS player myself gotta give some props for those who still love this deck)

As a new viewer of the last few months, it would have been really nice to get a brief summary of what exactly this series is supposed to be about. As it stands, I'm several minutes in and I have absolutely no idea what is going on, who any of these people are, what deckbuilding limitations they're working with, or even what the premise of the video is supposed to be. It's not very inviting to new viewers and speaks to how entrenched Yugioh and its content base is in its existing audience rather than trying to appeal to newcomers. Hell, there's not even any additional information in the description for those invested enough to look.
You can normal summon without tributing regardless of the level, set S/T at most once per turn and activate S/T at most once per turn. They play with cards available every year, once MBT and RJ, and once two guests and then they make a custom banlist after each episode. First couple of episodes are cool because it's a completely separate format, but since special summoning is not restricted, most of the later decks are pretty identical to their TCG counterparts, it's just that Sky Strikers and Eldlich are unplayable.
P. S It's called Junior Journey, because those were so called junior rules in the earliest days of the OCG, and modern rules are called advanced rules.
The problem is also that Yu-Gi-Oh is not a good game (for newcomers).
Imagine the finale of the series is mbt and rj vs nirvana high paladin.
I dont know if this would be enough for an entire series but can you try yugioh with the additional rule "you can only declare one direct attack per turn. monsters that can attack directly by some effect are excluded from this rule"
I think it would change the dynamic of the game a lot. Could be a video idea

This is gonna sound like flame so I wanna preface this with the fact that I'm mostly just genuinely curious - Does anyone know where the design philosophy for Jr. Journey came from? Did MBT & friends create it, or did it come inspired from an anime somewhere or a game or something? Just seems absolutely atrocious to play in lol. The degenerate creature pile combo decks are all still just as busted as before with maybe a couple of exceptions. And how is it allowed that you can just make totem bird and it becomes a floodgate? You can't activate another spell/trap if your first one gets negated? That's wild.
Junior Rules were an alternative format written in the rulebooks of series 2 products (2000-2002) that aimed to simplify the game so that younger players wouldn't have to learn things like tributing and chaining.
But it wasn't very popular; the ruleset arrived during the TV anime's Battle City arc, where tributing was an important mechanic, and kids wanted to play the TV show's rules.
You're not wrong. Junior Journey becomes almost irrelevant around like 2012 when monster effects are now everything and the core conceit ceases to alter gameplay or deck building. 10/10 series up until that point though.
