The last video with our parents!!! 😭
In this Thailand Travel Vlog we take our parents to Ayutthaya - the ancient capital of Siam! Ayutthaya is an UNESCO World Heritage Site full of ruins and historical sites. It's also really easy to get to from Bangkok!! If you're visiting Bangkok, try to take a day trip up to Ayutthaya!
There are tons of ruins to visit, but when we went some of them were actually flooded and we weren't able to visit two of our favorite Ayutthaya temples! However, our parents still loved it and had a great time!
In this video we started at the famous Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokaya Sutha), then went to Wat Mahathat (with the famous Buddha head in the tree), Phra Mongkhon Bophit, tried to go to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, and finally Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon before heading back to Bangkok. It was a great day in Ayutthaya!!!

They were messy, but really tasty! 😍
- Bangkok was build as a mirror to Ayuthaya. The Bangkok grand palace is on the man made island the same Ayuthaya. A lot of bricks were moved from Ayuthaya to build new capital, so you can say Ayuthaya spirits are in Bangkok.
- Ayuthaya is flooded since these areas are water reservior contained water from north to protect the lower cities.
Oh wow that’s so cool! We didn’t know that the Grand palace was built the same as Ayutthaya or that they used the same bricks 😍
@@NataliesPassport A lot of bricks from Ayutthaya city were hastily brought to build the walls of two new capital is Thonburi city and Bangkok city to defend against Burmese army in next battle soon.

Really enjoyed watching your family trips. So happy to hear that your mom love Thailand. She's so kind and cute. All your parents are so nice. They seemed to enjoy all the trips although the weather's too hot for them. I think they're so cool when they walk up that steep steps to the very high pagoda. That's why they all looked so tired the end of the day♥️😊

Restaurants along the river are so nice and delicious. There is a hotel on the main side of the river where I like to stay, but don't remember the name exactly.
When Carles and I went to Ayutthaya before we ate at a really cute Thai place along the river! 😍 we wanted to take our parents there, but it was all flooded 😭

Some interesting story about Thong muan at 7:35. Thong muan was created by Maria Guyomar de Pinha. Maria was a mixed Japanese-Portuguese-Bengali ancestry who lived in Ayutthaya in the 17th century. Maria Guyomar took the position of head of the royal kitchen staff in the palace in the period of King Narai and introduced many new desserts into the Siamese cuisine. Maria's sweets were largely based on traditional Portuguese desserts, such as Thong muan. Such desserts were presented and served to King Narai.
So that why Carles's mom said there is something similar to Thong muan in Spain and I guese spain and portugal has similar food recipe.

In Thailand It’s common to use umbrella in hot Sunny day. Don’t be afraid to use it.
We didn’t use umbrellas in the sun for a couple months…..but now if it’s really hot Carles always does 🤣🥰
I love Ayutthaya, my Aunt's house in Ayutthaya. When I was a teenager I spend the summer time with my aunt and my cousin. Swimming and Boating along the Pa Sak River all day.

Ayutthaya was a good old day, the time Thai established a new kingdom (Rattanakosin). So we resembled the city plan and built several landmarks just liked those in Ayatthaya.

I booked a tour last minute to Ayutthaya, think we saw 5 of the temples n royal gardens. Don't think we went to the first place on your vlog tho. He kept saying that many of the bricks were taken from there o be used to build the palace or temples in Bangkok because it was too hard to make alot of bricks back then.
Felt it so warm that day, no clouds n no shade. Sun was soo bright I couldn't see my camera at times, so just point and click and hope for a decent image 😆
