For most of the headlights are seal with Butyl rubber or permaseal glue.
This Preve Headlights are using Permaseal glue.

For the life of me, I cannot find one of these for my car, but every one I see shows that you need a *LOT* more than just the replacement lens to fix this....
You need *heat guns* / *cover openers* / *seal knives* / *seal remover* / *sealant* too, just to swap this thing out. So, for those of you thinking this is a cheap alternative to replacing the entire *headlight assembly,* think again, because by the time you by the *twenty toolboxes full of stuff you will need to replace the lens,* you *could have bought 3-4 full assemblies!!*
And its a lot of work, but thats the fun part
Try the baking technique. I used the heat gun and it took too long. Baked in the oven @240 degrees for 15 minutes and it popped right off. I did use 2 knives and 2 flat heads.
@@ms.shunte8323 heat gun took me around 10 min for eachbheadlight, started at one side and worked my way along with trim remover tools
@@shoe1126 I tried both ways. The heat gun was actual work time. So 10 minutes of actual work time versus 15 minutes of bake no work. And 2 minutes of work.

from what I've seen, the oven method is best, faster to to take apart and clean out the old seal

i got kia sorento and one headlight adjustment motor is toast (it doing whining and scratching noise all the time but liht working fine) but seems the damn thing is located inside headlight

Market don’t have cover for preve. You can look for a shop to polish back the cover.

Kendi Larang depends on headlamp glue. Not all can using same method
No mate, using focused heat you only heat the border where the permaseal is applied. Never use water, it gets through to parts and places you don't know when and how will dry. All the sealing purpose is to avoid water, dust and fumes from engine to get into the lenses. You can even use your normal stove oven to heat the entire piece. Make sure you remove wiring harness or any wire, bulbs and any removable piece before taking it into the oven. Set your oven at around 120 - 140 C for 15 minutes. Turn it off and then put your headlamp inside the oven. Put a cardboard piece as a base to avoid dripping and prevent your plastics to touch metal directly. Usually it takes from 10 to 15 minutes for the sealant to get soft. Use protective gloves and try prying it open with the appropiate tools. If the sealant is like thick chewing gum, sticky, chances are you made it really good. Please check your headlamp frequently, don't leave it without constant checks. Some manufacturers may have thinner plastics and they risk melting. Once the HL is opened, clean and take out the old sealant when it is still hot, this will save you a pain the rear. Once again, NEVER use hot water. Keep the thing dry.
“Oven opening” is a good way to open headlights. Unfortunately, it’s not working at all on permaseal glue.

@@beletruz not using heat to melt silicone. Heat is for soften headlights cover, so put in something to open it up
@@rdmalaysia8187 I was refering to the fact that most OEM headlights come sealed with mastic wich melts when heated. And most AM headlights come sealed with a silicone that is easier to be melted with a chemical rather than just heat and force (happy holidays btw! :) )

Heat really can’t melt the permaseal silicone. In this video, we using acid to soften the silicone, and with our skill (the forcing that you mention) able to open smoothly (definitely not easy)

If you appreciate your skin integrity, never wear short pants when using a heat gun, knife, cutters or handling potential scratching parts like the ones in headlamps. Besides showing the "how to", observe and recommend security before doing anything. Good instructional video.
