I like the inclusion of Albert Pujols. I think players like Pujols (or for myself Ichiro too) are probably, greatly collected among a certain fan base, or collector base. Albert with the Cardinals was, quite a legendary run. I think about how many MVP's he won, but also probably would have had if not, for the incredible hulk (roids) Barry Bonds.
Not gonna hate on L.T.'s NFL contributions but Reggie White was a monster on the defensive line. If Bonds had the personality of Pete Rose, he'd be in the hall of fame.
I appreciate that you added LT. I feel like for a list like you're doing, A) do what you want, but B) you look at the player on the field first, and the off the field second. I was lucky to find both 82 LT's in a collection I bought on Craigslist in 2019. The person advertised complete 84 and 85 complete topps baseball sets, as well as the 86 Traded, but found a bunch of other stuff he didn't know about in there - and 84 Traded set, the 2 LT RCs, an 82 Ripken, and 83 Traded Strawberry, etc. It was a good day.
I have two of the Elway’s, I had one graded and it came back a PSA 8, the other would get a 7. I have several of the Bo cards. I had one graded and it came back a PSA 9. LT was an absolute beast on the field and evidently off the field as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
The line is where you want to draw it, it’s your list, in my opinion keep LT , no OJ, Bonds. There’s always been a rumor that Pujols used his cousins birth certificate making him younger, his real name is Jose Pujols. The Bo is definitely iconic card, he was larger than life for a couple years.
The 84 Elway and Marino always have a special place in my heart. I got back into the hobby after my mom passed. My uncles have all the Clemente's, Mays, and Mantles, but my mom collected football cards with my brother and I when I was a kid. She put together a. few sets, the 84 being one of them. The Elway card always reminds me of her. She also snagged the 88 set with Bo's football rc. I have that iconic Bo card in a sealed set that I'm going to pop open soon. I'm taking 3 89 Griffey sets to my brothers for thanksgiving to pop open. Griffey was his jam. I'm hoping the one is a Tiffany.. I'm also going to have my brother take some pictures for me so I can send you them. I feel like a dirtbag, it shouldn't be hard to snap a few photos but without a smartphone it became a headache..
It’s your list so keep them if you want them. For me, I can’t separate the two and I don’t want bad people in my collection. When I look at my collection, I want to be happy and there are some people who would just bring me down seeing their cards.
I am in the camp of NOT excluding any player. Judge them based on what they do ON the field, not based on what they do off the field. If you look at off the field antics, you could exclude everyone. You could look at Jordan and keep him off the list, but who would, right? Draw the line at what they did in their sport…….
Your list is coming right along. You have chosen some good ones. As hard as it may be, try to let a player’s accomplishments and talent in the sport overshadow the failures in their personal lives. Yes, even O.J. should be included if you choose to do so. Thanks Mike.
@@NuthinFancyCollectibles thanks Ken. That’s how I feel for the most part too. There are many athletes with bad histories but I still want their cards.

I literally just informed a dealer at a show this weekend that his 1990 Score Bo Jackson was a fake (the back was black and white). How CRAZY that the fakes are still out there. Must be an iconic card!
I'd say don't exclude anyone for anything from any sport. People can decide for themselves. A card's price will reflect the magnitude of the "yuckiness" that people feel. At the time, fans loved the steroid era and it's questionable if rules were broken. It's disingenuous for people to now be appalled by steroids. Sports leagues are littered with people who may not be good guys.
If any of the Halls of Fame looked at the players outside of their playing career, very few would actually be in the Hall of Fame. Was that Bo Jackson photo also in the movie Pretty Woman? I'm wondering if there are any cards on your list that evoke specific memories for the generation that collected the card - so like Jose Canseco's 1986 Donruss is widely regarded as a classic among GenX, while GenZ would have no affinity for it because it's before their time?
Hi Mike. It's your list, I think you can put anyone you want on it. Some of these players like Taylor, Bonds, Simpson and others, I just do not go out and collect them. I am enjoying the top 100. Keep up the great work.
It's my party and I can cry if I want to. It's your list and you can do it how you want to. Barry Bonds SHOULD be in the Hall of Fame and on your list. It's the hall of fame and not the hall of saints. There are cheaters in there already that were in there before Bonds was ever eligible. It's sports. Folks are gonna look for a way to get an advantage and that generally ends up with somebody cheating although it may not be seen as cheating at the time.
@@kbo_collections_george Bonds also played among many PED users. However, none even come close to meeting his legendary status. David Ortiz, for one, I think was guilty of PED use. HOF still enshrined him. Nobody likes Bonds enough to enshrine him, and that's the only problem. It's a popularity contest.
There is no comparison between OJ and LT. Murdering someone is different. LT did a lot of stupid things and got caught. Remember, people get caught maybe 10% of the time they commit a crime. And that's only if they are not very bright or have serious drug problems. LT being a great player kept getting him more chances in the NFL. But I'd guess 10% of NFL players throughout history have done as bad of things as LT. They just weren't caught (or were not caught as often). Barry Bonds was a bad person, not just a cheater. He got voted off his college team at Arizona State. But there are a lot of bad people who ended up as MLB players. I still remember seeing a Giants v Cubs game on WGN and after a flyout, the camera swung back to Bonds who was standing there flipping off the left fielder. A bunch of 2nd generation players were jerks - Brain McRae comes to mind. Elway had a nice run but winning multiple SB's at the end of his career gets him on this list. Where would he be on a list of all-time greats had Terrell Davis not come along for Elway's final two seasons? Prior to that, Elway wasn't really seen as an all time top 10-20 type QB.
@@JunkWaxHero the vote got overruled, but yeah - him being 'difficult' goes way back. I think the Royals had both Craig Griffey and Bobby Bonds Jr in their system at one point.
My thoughts, for what they're worth... I wouldn't want either violent criminals or cheats in my collection; but if we are SOLELY talking about their deeds in their chosen sport alone, then the deeds of a violent criminal - who has committed heinous crimes in their private life, but didn't cheat/was never proven of cheating in their chosen sport - go ahead of someone who cheated in their sport. To be clear, I think that neither of them should be honoured in any way by their sports governing body, and they should be air-brushed from history, as much as possible. As always, thank you for another great video, and congratulations on your additions, Mike. 👍
