I have 3x 921b which like to be kept at a stable temperature to stay in tune just like the original ones! I also have two 921s which are less sensitive to temperature changes. All these modules sound good like the original Moog modules but also have their sensitivities to ambient temperature changes - I can live with them, just give them time to warm up...

I had 3 921B + 1 921 and 3 921... but I had to replace the A + B for 3 921 because keytracking was impossibly unstable. Now I have 6 921... they sound better, the pulse wave specially, are more stable, better hard sync and have more features. Consider all this if you´re going to expand your system.

Hi! That's unfortunate - My 921As & Bs have been fine. I just have to wait for them to warm up for 30mins for them to stabalise. They slowly get higher in pitch until they settle. Yeah the "sync" on the 921b isn't the modern proper kind of sync, and definitely not hard sync. It's faithful to the original Moog 921Bs - obviously Bob Moog invented the sync feature, the sync on the 'Bs was the first revision. It only works within a small frequency range - purely to keep two oscillators locked in tune with each other and to prevent beating. So no pitch glide effect using the Bs... Thanks for sharing your experiences and advise juno6. (BTW - were you aware the pulse modulation on the A/Bs only works within a 5volt range, not the usual 10v (+/-5v)?)

@@ZvookUK if you look at this video, ua-cam.com/video/m05oaXkP_q8/v-deo.html , you'll notice that the original 921 B pulse wave sounds way different than the behringer one. Even the Behringer's 921 sounds way closer to the original 921 B.

@@juno6 You're not wrong actually - I thought I heard a difference when I first got the 921B & 921 and was going to do a video on it, then thought it was my imagination. I've just done a comparison... The 'B's pulse is sightly "rounded off" - like its been low pass filtered slightly. Yes, indeed - the 921 does sound a lot closer to the Moog & Moslab. Here's the comparison recording: first the Boog 921B, then the Boog 921 then the Moog. soundcloud.com/zvook-uk/comparison

@@ZvookUK Yep... not only the B pulse wave sounds different, it sounds wrong. So, if you put into consideration that 921 has better hard sync, has an aux out with waveform switching and attenuation and amplification (x4 iirc), the pulse wave sounds definitely better, is more pitch stable, it has PW controls, has full range knob pitch control option, ... I think I took the right decision to replace the 921Bs....

@@juno6 Oh yeah - the 921 is a better VCO all round for sure what with the aux out too. I guess getting the 921Bs is more for the "authenticity" (crazy using that word since they are clones) of having the full set, plus if you haven't got a buffered mult it's handy chaining them together... But the whole "authenticity" argument is a bit mute since the square wave isn't quite right. Better that they sound and behave authentic than look authentic ( ie having the full "set"). Yeah, if I get another one it'll be a 921, not a 921B. Thanks.
