Great catch, rare for the Americans to head up that way. I remember seeing the Great Republic up there last year. Caught me off guard . Keep up the great content !!
Well Nigel. Yet another super video with “lazy days” type of music - great choice again. Mike is great at keep us Ship junkies up to date with pics vids and the ships movements. I’m really enjoying this topic of yours xx
@@NigelHay oh yes. It shows in the videos that you’re enjoying the subject, cos you do your homework, it’s funny when you forget tho. Did you plane spot at Manchester by any chance? Xx
@lyndacottam397 thanks Lynda. When I managed to video the Keewatin 18 months ago, I realized that I would enjoy doing this. Infact, I've enjoyed it so much my other projects have taken a back seat
Great video, I'm really glad you caught this arrival! I don't know if you noticed the ATB (Pere Marquette 41/Undaunted) unloading next to the Mark W in your drone footage, but they might make a cool subject for a video in the future. Both the tug and the barge have a really interesting history.
Ogdensburg, NY is on the St Lawrence River which means the ship will have to pass thru the Thousand Islands. I'd be interested in knowing when the last American laker transited the Welland Canal. I'm guessing it's been a while. The footers are too big.
Good catch! 👍 First time an Interlake ship did the Welland canal? Perhaps she got the contract as the Michipicoten is still out of service. The older lakers are more suited to these runs, that’s why they’re still around. See she’s not fully loaded, as the canal draft is too shallow.

Thanks for staying the whole time to get these shots.
Thank fully it was nice afternoon there, where I live though on the other hand was getting battered by a severe storm, 18km east of Port Colborne

Since the start of the season, I've really got into this.
You need patience of course. I got that from years of plane spotting back in the day

@lyndacottam397 I started at Manchester when I was like 10. Also spent a lot of time in Toronto early 2000's up until about 2011
@@NigelHay I must have missed the vid of keewatin. Will check to find it. Thank you Nigel xx

I was watching them just before Barker arrived.
Good idea btw, I'll try and capture them at some point.
I think Mike was steering her as you quite correctly said he was on top x
It was great to follow him and the progress on FB.
Really enjoyed that
@@NigelHay yes bless him. Unlike a certain other blogger who snook over to uk saying nowt🤐. Stay safe and would love more ship vlogs please xxx
Last year Mark Barker grounded on Belle Island, Detroit River. That’s where it got some of those scratches 😂

The American Mariner at 730' made a couple trips to Montreal a few years ago.
Not seen the Mariner this year, she was frequently in Buffalo last year
I'm scheduled to be up that way (Kingston area) mid September, hope to spend a couple of days on the water up there chasing a few ships
Good catch! 👍

Didn't take her long to unload either, she's already heading back
every Algoma ship looks like the "Smokers" base ship in the movie Waterworld, the ol' rusty Bear
I now have to check this out
Where was her final destination to deliver that salt?
Ogdensburg, NY on the Seaway.
Ogdensburg, NY
They are Oreo boats not ships
Still a ship
