Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness are both deeper colors, and I love them.
I second this!
Third!
I love the dimensional look you got from stamping a base layer first then popping the colored one on top.
I can understand getting another shade of red if it’s just something you’d like to have but I don’t think your Santa could be any more perfect; that red is the shade I remember on pictures of Santa from when I was a kid.
Not sure you were aware but you have 93.3k subscribers and this is video #933! SO enjoy your videos and the cards you make.
OMG, if I didn't already have too many Christmas stamps, I would buy this Santa in a heart beat! But, I have promised myself I would not buy anything more Christmas stamps. Love your technique of stamping the image, then popping the finished image over iy.
It's great to limit your selection though, I know it really helps me to be creative, instead of being overwhelmed! So even if your current santa doesn't fit the bill for this technique, perhaps you have another stamp that may work! xx Natasha
Love it and I've used the tip you mentioned on other projects in the past. If I can't cut something like bird legs thin enough I'll stamp and then add the fussy cut piece over the top.
Really cute card! Makes me smile 😊!
Lovely Santa. I love the way you stamp the grounding after cutting it off the stamped image. Lou Collins has a great series of videos comparing and blending all of the distress oxides. This may help you decide on another red.
Lumberjack plaid is a good red in the oxide range. I like Rustic. Wilderness for Christmas green.
Lumberjack plaid is my favorite red. Evergreen bough is a good green
Absolutely the best Santa card ever! Brilliant Natasha 👏 seeing this makes me want to believe 🤔🤣😊
Another wonderful, fun video with lots of tips. I hadn't seen the stamping before putting the fussy cut image on and I also loved how you put the little speckles on the trim of Santa's coat. You did a fantastic job. Thank you.
I like the lumberjack plaid, and lately evergreen bough. Thank you for all you do!
Well done! Absolutely the cutest Santa Card I've seen - Easy or at least you made it look easy!
What a cool Santa! As I thought I never would need to buy a new Santa stamp!😂 Love him. I can see you have got soooo many good answers about the colors you needed, but when I started out lots of years ago there where not so many distress colors. If I remember correct I used Barn Door together with a tiny bit of Vintage photo to get "Christmas red". Thank you so much for everything you post on here and ALL the inspiration you share.🤗🤗
I love lumber Jack plaid red.
I love the lumberjack plaid and rustic wilderness in the distress line.
These are my favorites, also!
I second this!!
I would also suggest lumberjack plaid and evergreen bough.
Lumberjack plaid and rustic wilderness
I only have barn door in red but I love it and I tend to use mowed lawn as a green with it
Lumberjack plaid is a deeper, cooler red and I love it. But I like this red for the Santa. Evergreen bough would be my Christmas green.
Do you celebrate Christmas, just curio us, no judgement. This card was a real learning moment for me, don’t colored much cause I’m not so good at it. That red was gorgeous on Santa. Sweet, fun card. Ty. Natasha, this card is at the very top of my list for one of my favorites by you. I just love how Santa pops up.
I love Barn Door in red and Mowed Lawn for the green. They make a very nice Christmas combo.
I am really glad I got Distress Oxide Lumberjack Plaid. It’s a great “Christmas” red. And, I like Pine Needles for a “Christmas” green. I absolutely, positively, LOVE Distress Oxide Inks. They ink blend beautifully, and I also stamp everything else using them! And yes! I always get the reinker at the same time! This cad turned out great! Don’t knock your coloring, Natasha! I always love it! TFS!
I regret not purchasing the re-inkers initially, now I have start to save for all those hundreds of little bottles. You were smart to buy them at the same time.
Agree. I was going to suggest those colours too
I really liked the stamped image under the cut out. It also grounded the Santa ❤
Adorable card Natasha and thanks for the reminder about the under-stamping. You have shown it before on little birdie feet and such, but I had forgotten about it! Such a great tip.
What a cute Santa card! 🥰

Hi, as a painter, it’s hard to match reds. Use a pink. You can combine for a midtone and use red for the shadow. Beautiful card.
Only just seen this....... A really cute impactful card, and a really really useful video full of handy, tips..... Thanks :-) x
Hi Natasha, Lumberjack Plaid for the red, I also use either Rustic Wilderness green or Mowed Lawn green...love your work, thanks for sharing
Oh I love this!! I like Lumberjack Plaid!!! I learn so much from your channel!!
Absolutely ADORABLE, Natasha! Your Santa turned out great. I don't even own a whole Santa. Mine is shoulders and head only. And I usually put him in gold frame on a peppermint background with Santa kinda leaning out of the frame. Your Santa is super. Good job. Thanks for the great night background, too. I've learned so much from you. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. I love them as well as the products you use.
I must confess a lot of my Christmas cards are more traditional, eg trees, snowflakes, poinsettias, wreaths etc, but this was definitely a cute Santa. Love the colouring, you wouldn’t know that you’re not a natural 😊 I like Lucky Clover and Evergreen Bough for Christmas cards. Great job Natasha! 😊❤
I love Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness in Distress Oxides. I feel like they are deep and rich.
What a cute card- love the grounding and the black stamping behind. How effective. I also vote lumberjack plaid. Is the only real red in oxides. Love you inspiration. ❤
Hi Natasha, I like TSUKINEKO memento inks, they are acid-free, water-based, fade- resistant, and fast-drying on most paper surfaces. Excellent for capturing detailed stamp images. sadly you can not emboss with them unless you use a misti stamper and re-stamp with versamark clear ink. but they come in a pack of 24 tear drop size and lots of lovely colores. they have 3 different reds to pick from and 6 different greens to pick from. I love using the ladybug red and the cottage green for my go to green and red colors. actually I think all 3 different reds would go well with he cottage green. the other 2 colores are rhubarb stalk, & love letter. Patty FRomherz💕💕
Beautiful card! I use my distress oxides all the time. I would suggest Lumberjack Plaid for a Christmas red and Rustic Wilderness but it’s a deep evergreen color, it’s beautiful just like the red. Thank you for sharing!
In the Disttess Oxide reds, I like Festive Berries and Lumberjack Plaid and Pine Needles for the Christmas green. Really cute Santa. A couple of times I thought you were off the rails a bit, but he turned out perfect! That's why I watch til the end every time.😅😅
I am in love with this Santa! He is so adorable!!! This is a wonderful & joyous card, Tash, and you color so nicely. I just today used my Lumberjack Plaid for blood splatter on some Halloween cards. It is fantastic... I will definitely be using it for Christmas, too! Thanks for sharing💜💜💜 *bets*
This is the cutest card, and there is nothing in the world Wrong with your coloring! you can color for me anytime you like! good job.
Lumberjack plaid and rustic wilderness is great for Christmas.
Have u tried blending aged mahogany over your red ink?
Also, Kelly Taylor is a fantastic colourist. She also designs for picket fence so certainly knows how to add highlights and shading etc. Do hope you check her out.
Now, onto your fabulous card. So good to see a Christmas card. He is lovely just how you coloured him but he is also just as lovely stamped on your night time background!!
I'm not a big Santa fan. I like him just fine. I'm happy that people make the holiday more about him than religious reasons. But this Santa is adorable! I would consider getting this stamp. Your coloring is fine. You're too judgemental over your own work in coloring.😊
I too like the end result of stamping the image direct on the card then adding the raised fussy-cut image above. Very effective. Lovely final result.
Btw, forgot to say, this is a wonderful card Natasha! Great inspiration as always! I think i will try a couple of your techniques today, VERY inspired! 😊
Hi. Thank you for sharing your brilliant Christmas card, I even liked the 'ghost' print of Santa on the card before you put the solid Santa on it (it looked to me like the 'spirit of the season'!).😂 I think the background you made is just fabulous, it's spot on.
I'm afraid I'm unable to offer any colour recommendations as I don't have any of those inks. Thanks again for another winning video and have a lovely day.😊
That is called Paper Toilet I have been doing it for 50 plus years. And I taught it for years. Beautiful
Catherine Pooler - deck the Halls and Cranberry Fizz or Rockin Red
Tim Holtz - festive berries and pine needles (not sure if they do those in oxides)
Brilliance - pearlescent Thyme and Pearlescent poppy. I’ll send through a pic of the differences. I’ll have to post pic on FB page as i don’t think i can put photos in here
Just my two cents...My favorite(s) are Lumberjack Plaid & Rustic Wilderness also
Lovely card... But the stars really took it up to next notch... simple but v effective to add to any Xmas card - thank you :))
I'm going to agree with others and suggest Lumberjack Plaid, but then be "different" and suggest Lucky Clover for the green. It's a true green and I like it for Christmas green, although not for trees or foliage, more for sentiments and such.
I do so love your simple card making techniques. And I am going to look for your Christmas playlist.
I love your 🎅 Natasha. I have some problems when it comes to finding the best red for Santa’s suit. I shall take the red you use. TFS 🇨🇦🎅
Cute as possible! Echo previous comment: Lumberjack Plaid or Barndoor.
Natasha , The Santa us adorable . Thank you for the tip of removing the sentiment. I frequency “squish” the sentiment , making it smudged looking . I do it with an acrylic block. I use what I have , but wish I had one of those stamping things , and a die cutting machine .
I actually just bought lumberjack plaid finally and I really like it for the reds, it's still not really a true solid red tho. I guess I would have to go to dye inks for that?
But, I found too that as far as green goes, I like pine needles but I found a better green for me by laying down either twisted citron or mustard yellow and then overlaying salty ocean on top, makes a gorgeous green in my opinion. Seems like everyone goes to mowed lawn for green but I don't have that, so I can't say... Hope that helps? Carry on crafty friend! 😊💕
Natasha , I hope you don’t mind if I ask a favor . I can’t find your video on making a home made envelope . I have watched it a couple of times , and now really need it ! I am out of envelopes ! Do you remember the year or month you made that video ! I asked on your Face Book site, but , both questions I asked , got no reply and it said pending . Now, I’m on a finish watching your video on now on a Christmas card ! I love your channel ❣️
I don’t have lumberjack plaid, but festive berries and lucky clover make a nice lighter combination. I guess I’ll have to try lumberjack, but I can’t tell if it’s a deep cherry red or if it is an orange red. I have several orange reds.
I have pine needles
Oxide and it’s awesome. Candied apple is so pretty, I also love festive berries (which I have in the distress paint) and lumberjack plaid is pretty but I don’t own that one yet.
Great card! And thanks for asking for distress color recommendations. I also have a “hole” in my reds. And thank you to everyone who have given suggestions.
For my Christmas combo I use Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness.
I prefer Barn Door over Lumberjack Plaid, but that’s personal preference.
Lumberjack Plaid is an awesome red. Pine Needles would be my “Christmas “ green choice.
Really cute card Tash! I have only one red too-Festive Berries, and definitely recommend it,especially for Christmas cards.
I think that lumberjack plaid is a really beautiful red and I like Rustic Wilderness for Christmas. Until you get another red, you could mix a little bit of black to the red to make a deeper color.
What are you saying when you are cutting out the santa design, fusy cut?? I can't understand your accent, sorry! Also, what are those scissors called? I don't see them in any of your description boxes.
❤mix candied apple eith a little black soot to get the deeper red, again mowed lawn with a litt lo e black soot until you get the more festive colours
I too have seen and recomend the Lou Collins Distress Oxide colour combinations, she demonstrates alot, just search the colours you are considering. Hope that helps. Your card teally pops against the blues. ❤
Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness are rich color pair for Christmas.
What a beautiful card. All of your cards are just wonderful.Thank you for being so smart.
I agree, Lumberjack Red and Pine needles. Love how you stamped the image to put under your cut out image. I never thought of doing that.
You must have heard me yelling “ lunar paste” and then you used it 😅, ha. The background makes him stand out beautifully!!
Adorable card Natasha! Love the big bold Santa and that background: wow!! tfs❤
I have a few reds, and didn't think I needed anymore. Lumberjack plaid is to me a true xmas red. I pair with rustic wilderness, to me looks like a pine tree green. The other greens have more of a blue tone.
Lumberjack plaid is a beautiful red goes well with rustic wilderness or pine needles. And there are 71 or 72 inks in the oxide range
Did I miss information on the stamping platform you are using? Thanks, Becky
Amazing once again! You can sure fussy cut fast & perfect! Really good card. TFS ❤
I don’t think you need the complete set of oxides. I’d just go for a little bit darker red to give you more depth. Not sure what greens you already have so can’t recommend one there but I’ve done similar. I use them as watercolors too so I mix sometimes to get the shade I want.
He looked cute as well stamped in the black ink on your gorgeous background! Very cute
Forgot to mention that I like Barn Door and Festive Berries as reds in the Distress Oxides. And the greens I use most are Mowed Lawn and Pine needles.
I love your coloring! Such fun colors you put down on your card front. So delightful to watch you create!
I love this video. You have shown a fantastic idea for a Christmas card
Thank you so much Natasha 💓 x
I just love this. I now want to try that technique. Thank you for another great video.
Lumberjack Plaid and Crushed Olive (for contrast)
Lumberjack Plaid and Forest Moss (for tonal quality)
I love your Santa!
Gorgeous card! I would have liked to see the white bit by the bell cut out or coloured blue so it didn’t stand out, but it’s so sweet!! ❤
What a beautiful card….. you did a fantastic job on the coloring!!!
Lumberjack Red Distress Oxide & Mowed Lawn or Pine needle
I like the idea of stamping the image before adhering your colored image!
So sweet. The Santa remind me of when I was a little girl and got a new Xmas coloring book!
Such a sweet santa.
I am in agreement with other people who mentioned lumber Jack plaid for red. Pine needles for the green. Great Christmas colors but also just great in general.
Another recommendation for Lumberjack plaid.😊
Absolutely adorable. Thanks for all your tips and tricks.
I really love Lumberjack Plaid for a Christmas red.
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing yout talent. 🎅
Such a wonderful Card . Greetings from Austria 👍
Absolutely beautiful! Your cards make me happy.
This came out so nice. Stamping Santa onto the card and the placing the cut image on top looks fantastic. It also provided the little shadow at his feet. And, sorry, I have no recommendation for another red. Thanks for the inspiration ♥️
I love colouring. I’m not good at all, but it makes me happy!
Freakin adorable! I love this card and the Santa is so big and cheerful. Great card! TFS💜🎨
Lumberjack Plaid and Rustic Wilderness is nice dark green.
OMG, this is adorable!!!!!! Thank you so much
Jolly Santa really stands out on that background! Great card!!
I like mowed lawn and festive berries...also yuletide is a good one.
