I have always preferred these older halogen rotating bars to even the latest LED technology. We all know the benefit of modern-day bars is that they have NO moving parts and the amperage draw is maybe a quarter of what a halogen bar pulls, and the old bars of yesteryear require far more maintenance but nothing beats that "pop-flash" effect you can only get from a genuine rotating light bar. The Federal Signal Vision SLR combines modern LED technology with a traditional rotator but at FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS it's extortionate cost has made it so only those agencies with the most generous budgets can afford it. In the time the Vision SLR hit the market I have still yet to see one in my travels and at 5k I doubt I ever will.

i didnt think it looked that great... but it was their "big and fancy" 2-level lightbar before the LEDs filled the Vista's niche.
As much as I do like the LED lightbars, I really like a good halogen set better. I just think the flashes are brighter and look better. I dislike strobe bars because in bright sunlight, they get washed out and arent very visible.

yea, i like LEDs with strobe-like flash patterns better than regular LED flash patterns, and i prefer rotators over strobes or LEDs... but dont get me wrong, LEDs are amazingly bright

Out of this angle the difference to the MX7000 is Hard to spot
only real difference is the bar itself is more rounded than the MX7000
The newer strobe Vistas are alot nicer in my opinion but its a nice bar.
looks very much like the lightbar in NFS Hot pursuit 2, the PC/Xbox version
Federal just announced they are stopping production of the Vista in Nov 2009

Odd choice of music.
Indeed, very odd choice. It's from the movie "Police Squad" with Leslie Nielsen and the opening showed an older Federal Signal bubble gum style rotating light with a round-top dome. I'm guessing that's what they were trying to emulate here but it still doesn't fit because the two lights are nothing alike.
