Hey Sarah! 2014 XT owner here! I have a lot of STI parts on my XT too! Same color too! For your exhaust I have the STI midpipe with the resonator. The WRX midpipe does not have a resonator. It's just straight pipe. I used the Nameless axle back with the 5" mufflers. It's makes the sound much deeper and not raspy at all. I just got on Instagram (sushislayer4u) so check me out! Thanks for the mention Sarah! Love the crackle from the exhaust, but yes too raspy for my liking. When e-tuning make sure to use a highly reputable source, or bad stuffs will happens.
I like how it sounds lol, minus the turbo that's how my 89 Chevy s10 regular cab short bed I had sounded with the 2.5 tbi,5spd with 3 inch fence tuning and a 4 inch outlet 18 inch long chrome angle cut exhaust tip,loud!!! so is my 86 Chevy k20 I still have now miss Sarah mam.

A 2.5-liter "boxer" flat-4 engine is heading your way, and it's eager to spit noise into your ear holes. I love it! Forgive me, I was looking into the FA20DIT a little more. The FA20DIT is a stout engine with so many improvements. It offers it’s power earlier than an EJ, with less lag, but that’s only because of the twin scroll setup. Yes! "Reduced distance from exhaust port to turbo, square bore:stroke for improved spool and response, increased compression ratio for improved off-boost response and torque, and of course direct injection."
Glad you aren’t here as our popo would wear you out giving you tickets. It is loud, but sounds pretty awesome. That kind of back and forth business is always frustrating. It will be okay. Problem with that Jazz is the instant gratification meter does not register!☹️ Life is hard! 😭
That turbo sounds to hawt... I have a 2013 Turbo Beetle (the one with the bits from the GTI) and this really makes me want to do the exhaust on it. I have it tuned, but it makes 310 lbft of torque now and the clutch is only good to either 250 or 300 (they used both revisions interchangeably in this model year, and I'm not sure which one I have) so it spins from 2500-3500 RPM in 2nd, and more in higher gears... So, back at stock power levels until I have time to change the clutch....
I'm catching up on your videos and one thing I've noticed is your a very honest person, at least on camera. A mechanic stuck on the side of the road waiting for tools...it was kind of funny. Not for you at the time I'm sure but you kept a good attitude. :)
I love the way that turbo sounds. However, I do believe the exaust is a little too loud. I live in Maine. I would be getting pulled over all the time with it like that.
Cobb should upgrade. Crappy hardware is something they should be working on. Could become their 15 minutes of fame if they don't keep on it. Always something comes along better. Wise up Cobb. Cause I want to buy one and I don't want to be wasting my money.
We all make mistakes, but your screw up wasn't bad at all. I forgot to reinstall the axle bolts--after dropping the subframe--on my S4 so my axles popped out of the hubs 😅
320tq is the max pushing point in the CVT's Lots of guys go stage 3 350whp 310tq to save the CVT's Also nice 15 fxt! I have the same one only my crystal white pearl fxt is a 17
Sarah -n- Tuned i would try the torque converter from the 15+ wrx and the cvt cooler together if you're looking for power. Bad part to that is the cost. Yeah we got the good tail lights on the 17s lol, but I'm salty about my headlights vs the touring headlights. Those are the set I'm after for my car, alone with the scooped hood for the 14+ fxt Plans are to go FMIC and the F1 CVT cooler mounted at the stock TMIC location for better cooling

Hey Sarah! Have you already or thought of replacing the OEM BOV on your FXT?? Lots of interwebs talk of the OEM BOV leaking. And replacing with an aftermarket one makes the turbo more responsive. Thx

Genkidayo I have a tuned ECU along with an upgraded Turboback exhaust. I haven’t dynoed it yet, so I’d be speculating to say it’s around 280hp/320lbft at the engine now on 91octane (95 Ron). The USDM Forester XT’s are 250hp/258lbft with factory tune.

How do you do a 3rd gear pull in a CVT? (yes, my buttons broke off my AP cable, and they sent me a new one free.) do you hold the paddles down so it doesnt shift? S mode?
LastHumansGarage Move shift lever over to left (manual mode), put drive mode in s#, drive car as if it had a traditional manual transmission using paddle shifters, it won’t shift up unless you tell it to.

I'm currently just running the Stage 1 93 Oct. OTS map from COBB on my FXT. It's a world of difference from the stock tune and honestly I could stay with it and be happy enough. Yet, I'm wondering if there's more to be had. Haven't done any hardware mods yet myself, not sure it it would have been worth it with the CVT likely being the limiting factor in getting major hp / tq gains. I had the full Stage 2 kit from MA Performance on my 15' WRX so I know well what the FA20DIT motor can do, and boy can it Do! I'm more worried about the CVT in the FXT though, my WRX was the 6MT so it took power like a champ. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :D!

Most definitely LOUD! We all make mistakes Sarah. Mine was using a lesser quality connecting rod manufacturer and spinning a main bearing shell after just 2k miles on my s14/2.3 in the E30 M3! As a result I'll have to rebuild the bottom end once again. Sad times. Sad expensive times! Anyway, Purleeeease give my Instagram a shout for anyone interested in old school BMW related pics. You say "3rd gear" but also you say "CVT". Can someone explain how a Continuously Variable Transmission has 3rd gear? I'm assuming it's a software defined "gear" that's actually just a set point in the ecu.
Jesse W you’re absolutely correct. The transmission is manufactured by LuK in Germany for Subaru. There’s a video explaining how the lineartronic CVT simulates gears by EngineeringExplained if I remember correctly.

I know this is an old post but subaru includes a flathead/philips head where your spare tire/ jack is !
I actually just went to the Subaru plant in West Lafayette, Indiana and took a tour of the plant. Pretty awesome I must say.

JPilot2 unfortunately mine doesn’t rumble much, the new FA20DIT engine utilizes a twinscroll turbo with an equal length manifold.

I just got a 2018 XT 2 days ago.... so I’m now trying to play catch up with all the mods I should be putting on my new ride.

You should totally upgrade to a bigger turbo, the stock forester turbos are only good for low bottom power, and they're tiny.

You should look into T-Bolt clamps, WAYYYY better than the lil screweys.
Yea the CVT is about 300 hp, call I was told my 5sp Auto 5AT can take 450....

the STI midpipe does have a resonator. I was thinking exact same thing.. but the Forester XT midpipe has a lot smaller tail pipes, restricting flow.
i blew off my charge pipe once also. forgot to tighten the clamp. get breeze liner 44's for the charge pipe.

Could look into an STi midpipe, plenty of people selling stock exhausts, might be able to get it cheaper. Any plans to dyno?
