Hey man - man you email me the full take of this, I've always wanted to hear the alternate guitar take but there's only a weird full mix of it floating around.

There's an article I read somewhere out there that details the initial communication Steve Albini and Kurt Cobain had about potentially making what would be the "In Utero" sessions. Steve had given Kurt a rough mix of the not yet released newest P.J. Harvey album, 'Rid of Me' which was produced at Albini's go-to studio at the time, Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Steve basically told Kurt that this is what Nirvana's 2nd major album release COULD sound like.
I'm certain it didn't take Kurt very long to realize that Steve, who was a notorious musician in the 80s noise rock scene and who had produced the Pixies debut album 'Surfer Rosa' as well as The Breeders first album, 'POD' was the number one choice to help produce and engineer his new album.

I would've loved to think that Kurt hooked up with P.J. Harvey instead of Courtney Love. P.J. wasn't as popular as Courtney at the time but she made up for it in songwriting and musicianship, and Kurt specifically mentioned his fondness of Harvey's first album 'Dry' in 1992.
RIP Steve Albini! You were and still are the perfect blend of inventive, controversial, unpredictable, humble, and 100% real that will never go unnoticed.
This must be what Krist refers to as the "sounds like an abortion" solo. Glad they changed it.
I think it sounds great I wish they put it on the record but cleaned up a bit, I prefer this melody ngl.

What mixes are you referring to? I have a mix with an additional guitar that was leaked a few months ago
Few years back, there was a leak of bunch of unreleased Nirvana/Kurt material. Dumb Solo Acoustic from KAOS, Pennyroyal Tea 1990 4-Track Home Demo (with Dave Grohl), Sappy from Nevermind sessions etc. I think this solo was the solo of Heart Shaped Box's Pachyderm basic tracks, albeit different take from the album version. Among those leaks there were couple Old Age mixes included extra guitar overdub versions. It became impossible to find these leaks, except few.
