I'm so confused. Wife changes locks, but speaks with husband over a couple of days before bringing friend home. Was husband away from home during that time? Further details are needed if it was the author's intent to jump back and forth in time. Without them, the timing is off. At last, husband arrives with friend, reads letter, gets angry, ok. Then wife hears the door slamming. Well, at this point it wasn't open, was it? How could husband enter when he obviously had no keys to the new locks. No mention of a violent outburst where he breaks down the door. It appears that the couple are speaking face to face, with no door between them, no mention of an intercom conversation. Details!!
