It's now been 5 years, how time flies. In the small chance you see this, we all hope you are doing well and someday will return, as all of your videos are brilliant for their science and education. You are a key reason as to why I'm so interested into radiation now and want to buy a gamma scout for the nostalgia! Hopefully you will be able to return to the zone one day. It is very likely that she has just moved on with her life, after getting caught in the zone before, but I wouldn't have thought she would have been permanently banned from the entirety of Ukraine for life, I highly doubt that. She has grown up, and probably has other things to do rather than make videos, and it is especially hard if not impossible to visit the zone with what is currently going on. I still have hope that one day a new video will come out, even if it is just a short video talking about what happened, but it is not likely. Again, in the small chance you see this, we all hope you are doing well, and I still regularly re-watch the videos, like a lot of people I know also do, as they just never get old!

I have been a fan of yours for a long time. You are the reason why I am about to graduate next year as a Chemistry major, and continuing on to grad school. It's sad she got banned for life from going to Ukraine. I get why but her vids are very informative and matter-of-fact so I'm happy they haven't been deleted. her narration is unique and levelheaded with no dramatizing ~ 😊
The more I think about this (and the more I’ve learned about the zone long since), the less I believe any of these rumors... They’re literally nonsensical, especially when since her time there’ve been literally hundreds of “youtubers” making videos doing much the same and a whole lot more! Plus, through following many of these individuals you can learn the entire history of how security changed throughout the years as well as how those caught illegally in the zone were treated by the legal system (or rather lack thereof), and the associated penalties that’ve been given. This all being while an entire tourist industry took hold, with all sorts of companies and individuals granted permits to bring people into the zone and to many of these places. In fact, it was only around the start of “corona” where fines were increased and additional penalties levied against trespassers in the zone without permission (and mostly only to severe repeat offenders or recidivists)...

There are two types of metal pickers. Illegals are homeless villagers at the border of the exclusion zone. They do so at their own peril and risk and are punished when they are caught. The second type is organizations that, thanks to corrupt schemes, work under the permission of the administration of the zone. They are engaged in the cutting of objects like Duga-2 and their bales with oxygen are protected by the security services of the zone. Also on a poaching scale, the forest is sawed, and it can not be taken out of the zone without omissions given by the administration of the zone.
Vladimir Leontiev pretty much answered it correctly already. the "zone" is full of legal & illegal people. but the illegals are like the wolves. they might be right next to you as you sit in a tour bus and drive through pripyat, hiding in a bush as they heard the motor of your car. they might be hiding in a room you just walked by. but they're like the wild wolf packs of the zone, they usually go unseen. there are poor people who only go to pick fruit, berries, mushrooms etc. at the outskirts of the exclusion zone, just to leave again quickly. then, there are hunters with guns, who poach for wild animals at night. then, there are the homeless, who go to live in the zone for a better life with shelter, or even people from e.g. kiev who live in the depths of the zone during summer, as it's a better life there than in a shitty cheap home in kiev. they, together with the old "samosely", the self-settlers that just returned to their legitimate homes after evacuation, will grow their own food such as potatoes and live off the land. the real samosely are tolerated by patrols, though, while other trespassers are not tolerated. then, there's the semi-professional metal thieves, who usually venture into the zone on a bike alone or in very small groups of 2-4 people, and with a backpack of tools, to extract the metal (e.g. copper) as seen in this video. and last but not least, of course, there are the classic "stalkers", who go there for fun. some are equipped like soldiers on a mission. some are mainly equipped with "samagon" (moonshine, usually 60-90% alcohol which is often diluted with the water found inside the zone), and have a party there. some are merely equipped with cameras and survival food. you get all kinds of people there. some are hostile, some are friendly. but the "dead zone" is alive... ...and sure, there are guards. patrols on horses, patrols with shepherd dogs and AK47 on their back. but they cannot be EVERYWHERE, the zone is way too big. and, to be quite frank, there are more important places to order ukrainian soldiers to right now, the exclusion zone is the least of their worries. :-( PS: rest assured the reactors and interim fuel storage have top-notch security though. all the places with REAL importance *are* damn secure, from what i've seen. it's like a fucking military base, nobody can just break in there.
So basically I could just go there secretly without paying for tourism ticket/pack. To be honest I really want to explore there like you but those tourism pack things are just showing the main locations...
Divisor basically, you can walk everywhere on Earth. States and borders are just mind concepts. However, you do take the risk there are people who believe in different stuff.
Judging by how lush and alive the nature is in the footage, the nature has made a fair trade. It got rid off the people for something less toxic- the radiation
that is no farming machine from 04:20 but a scraper... a massive earth moving machine that has a pulling motor in the front and right behind the front end of the machine there is the swivel joint to steer the machine... and after that you see the rear end with the scraping bucket (to remove layers of dirt and soil from the ground) with a few m³ capacity those earth movers can load the dirt while driving as well as unload the same way... no need to stop and more efficient when compared to a classical dozer or truck and excavator combo the second machine (at 04:50) seems to be a real military vehicle (a combat engineer vehicle aka. tank with crane on top to move and remove things from roads as well as damaged vehicles) but as the other machine it seems to have been taken apart and got several things removed by scavengers and the other machines are "normal" russian engineer tanks that could be used to push stuff around in some sort of protection as those tanks were basically enclosed and made for nuclear warfare with air protection systems... just not sure how much of this stuff has been used back then when this chaos took place pretty interesting video from you and hope to see even more in the up and coming future :)
Actually, almost the complete amount of combat engineering vehicles (mostly IMR-1 on T-55 MBT base) has been used after the accident. Maybe around 50-100 units of them. They had different tasks, like removing contaminated ground, pulling down contaminated villages (reported e.g. in Kopachi and Chistohalivka), buriying them and the red forest and scrapping the cars of pripyat. Less or more all heavy-duty tasks.
thanks for this very informative reply! i haven't even driven a car once in my entire life so far, and i in general know jackshit about most motorized vehicles. i've learned the theoretics on how a motor or a jet engine works, but that's about it. :P hence it's always great to get comments like this on youtube, as it teaches me new stuff i had no idea about. now i can look up "scraper" on google and learn more about the equipment i've seen on-site. so yeah, thanks again for your valuable and detailed explanation!

Love to see follow updates over time of Chinobyl and the areas around. I can remember the year it happened as a child. I was on holiday in Austria during the disaster. because of the fall out we could not buy peaches from a farm shop but the apricots were deemed safe to eat. Somehow yea. I just don't understand how do they get that metal scrap out if there's like a guard posts.
There are two types of metal pickers. Illegals are homeless villagers at the border of the exclusion zone. They do so at their own peril and risk and are punished when they are caught. The second type is organizations that, thanks to corrupt schemes, work under the permission of the administration of the zone. They are engaged in the cutting of objects like Duga-2 and their bales with oxygen are protected by the security services of the zone. Also on a poaching scale, the forest is sawed, and it can not be taken out of the zone without omissions given by the administration of the zone.
Vladimir Leontiev pretty much answered it correctly already. the "zone" is full of legal & illegal people. but the illegals are like the wolves. they might be right next to you as you sit in a tour bus and drive through pripyat, hiding in a bush as they heard the motor of your car. they might be hiding in a room you just walked by. but they're like the wild wolf packs of the zone, they usually go unseen.
there are poor people who only go to pick fruit, berries, mushrooms etc. at the outskirts of the exclusion zone, just to leave again quickly. then, there are hunters with guns, who poach for wild animals at night. then, there are the homeless, who go to live in the zone for a better life with shelter, or even people from e.g. kiev who live in the depths of the zone during summer, as it's a better life there than in a shitty cheap home in kiev. they, together with the old "samosely", the self-settlers that just returned to their legitimate homes after evacuation, will grow their own food such as potatoes and live off the land. the real samosely are tolerated by patrols, though, while other trespassers are not tolerated. then, there's the semi-professional metal thieves, who usually venture into the zone on a bike alone or in very small groups of 2-4 people, and with a backpack of tools, to extract the metal (e.g. copper) as seen in this video. and last but not least, of course, there are the classic "stalkers", who go there for fun. some are equipped like soldiers on a mission. some are mainly equipped with "samagon" (moonshine, usually 60-90% alcohol which is often diluted with the water found inside the zone), and have a party there. some are merely equipped with cameras and survival food. you get all kinds of people there. some are hostile, some are friendly. but the "dead zone" is alive...
...and sure, there are guards. patrols on horses, patrols with shepherd dogs and AK47 on their back. but they cannot be EVERYWHERE, the zone is way too big. and, to be quite frank, there are more important places to order ukrainian soldiers to right now, the exclusion zone is the least of their worries. :-(
PS: rest assured the reactors and interim fuel storage have top-notch security though. all the places with REAL importance *are* damn secure, from what i've seen. it's like a fucking military base, nobody can just break in there.
So basically I could just go there secretly without paying for tourism ticket/pack. To be honest I really want to explore there like you but those tourism pack things are just showing the main locations...

Judging by how lush and alive the nature is in the footage, the nature has made a fair trade. It got rid off the people for something less toxic- the radiation
that is no farming machine from 04:20 but a scraper... a massive earth moving machine that has a pulling motor in the front and right behind the front end of the machine there is the swivel joint to steer the machine... and after that you see the rear end with the scraping bucket (to remove layers of dirt and soil from the ground) with a few m³ capacity
those earth movers can load the dirt while driving as well as unload the same way... no need to stop and more efficient when compared to a classical dozer or truck and excavator combo
the second machine (at 04:50) seems to be a real military vehicle (a combat engineer vehicle aka. tank with crane on top to move and remove things from roads as well as damaged vehicles)
but as the other machine it seems to have been taken apart and got several things removed by scavengers
and the other machines are "normal" russian engineer tanks that could be used to push stuff around in some sort of protection as those tanks were basically enclosed and made for nuclear warfare with air protection systems... just not sure how much of this stuff has been used back then when this chaos took place

Actually, almost the complete amount of combat engineering vehicles (mostly IMR-1 on T-55 MBT base) has been used after the accident. Maybe around 50-100 units of them. They had different tasks, like removing contaminated ground, pulling down contaminated villages (reported e.g. in Kopachi and Chistohalivka), buriying them and the red forest and scrapping the cars of pripyat. Less or more all heavy-duty tasks.
thanks for this very informative reply! i haven't even driven a car once in my entire life so far, and i in general know jackshit about most motorized vehicles. i've learned the theoretics on how a motor or a jet engine works, but that's about it. :P

Love to see follow updates over time of Chinobyl and the areas around. I can remember the year it happened as a child. I was on holiday in Austria during the disaster. because of the fall out we could not buy peaches from a farm shop but the apricots were deemed safe to eat. It was scary but fascinating at the same time.
