Rammstein was inspired to write this song by the novel "Perfume" by Patrick Süskind. The story of the Spanish serial killer Manuel Blanco Romasanta, who killed several children and women to make soap out of them, allegedly served as a model. It was at that time, similar to Jack the Ripper, the first time that newspapers reported on the case.
i can only recommend for anybody who can read german to read the perfume in german. Süskind is in my mind the one author that shows real mastery of the language. There are many great german writers, but Süskind is for the ones that appreciate beautiful german.

JEFF: Flake is pronounced FLAW-Kawh. Drummer Christophe Schneider plays a custom DW Jazz Series kit, which has evolved over time. He is about 6'5" and built like a tank...he's reliable and relentless.

I felt like we’re going to burst in the flames any moment :-) we will have below 100° temperatures for the next eight or nine days probably. But we’ve had several days that were 105 110 etc. I don’t do heat very well, and susu doesn’t do cold very well. Drummers are a different species of musician (read: Alien) to me. I know polyrhythms are not just limited to percussion, but drummers often take it to a whole different level.
Agreed Forkless!! I can’t get that much rhythm going in each limb. I own a drum set and I’ve had it for years. Honestly it might as well be something to hang clothes on :-)

It would be nice if you can react to Rammstein - Klavier (piano), Rammstein -Donaukinder (children of the danube) or Rammstein - Spieluhr (music box). educatedmarine has the best translation for these songs but as I said before, there's no official video and the live versions have terrible sound quality. Another great track ist "Spring" (Jump) not on educatedmarines channel.

Lyrics are extremely important here (right, are they insignificant in any Rammstein videos? ;), you shouldn’t read them before listening to the music, and there is no official video… but there comes „educatedmarine”, who did fantastic job on creating really great music video with embedded subtitles. The translation is not pitch perfect, but it is close to the actual meaning of the lyrics - actually I didn’t find ANY translation that I would consider as perfect… Since best is the enemy of the good, let’s stay with this one. There is a wonderfull romantic original video from Du riechst so gut with lots of costumes and a nice storyline. That should be a must for the wolfman, as they all become real wolfes hunting a beautifull girl.
