It's 2024 I just looked this item up and now it's worth 77,000 £.
Good lord
When Antiques Roadshow WAS Antiques Roadshow!!
“Good Lord alive” I love it! That came from the heart 😂
A robust Scottish heart.
I was never into Japan or porcelaine, but David Beatty was great to listen to. I saw a recent road show where he was old and frail, and could hardly hold the piece of porcelaine in his shaking hands. That hurt. I hope he is okay.
Not when you're advertising this about him
@@John-lp5xhlife happens to everyone weather it’s spoken about or not!!! Reality BITES!!! EVERYONE!
I think you've got his name wrong. David Battie
David is 81 years old and has haemochromatosis and tyre 2 diabetes. So he probably has good and bad days. He retired in 2020. He was a fantastic antique expert 👏
@@mondom6332 yes i googled that as well
I love his words and expression! Nice piece of art! 1700's huh!
Should be in a museum
Okay i am officially addicted to this channel. So interesting to hear the history of these objects
Happy for the owner!
Antiques are exquisitely poignant and close to my heart...🇿🇦
David Beatty is quite youthful in this clip - methinks that this appraisal is about 30 years old.
It says 1998 in the video
So today it could be worth $100k
Not using it for gravy every Sunday anymore then
I love watching these! I am totally into antiques!
Love the history of the peace😊
PIECE!
Dam I have 3 off these I use as my gravy dish.
Stop using them! Get with Dr. Lori and pay her for an appraisal. Then sell them.
About $12,000 wow!
I'm an American, I've always loved these shows, history is amazing. Sadly, many here couldn't find Europe on a globe.....or what happened in the past...my sister attended a 'performing arts high school '. One day she asked me who bombed Pearl Harbor, and who did we fight in WW2....I wanted to cry....
Hey, at least she was smart enough to ask, and she learnt something.🤓
I knew those things from my family first
Just answer her questions. Don't cry.
As one of the others replied at least she asked as for the others I feel you. I am constantly amazed by people's ignorance and I often wonder who's fault it is. Unfortunately I blame the internet as people have no interest in actually learning, they just want to be entertained.
@@stevewhite7084I understand why someone would want to cry, because of the fact that our schools & education systems are not providing our children with American or World history. In addition to providing our children with a comprehensive education.
Pawn Stars "I'll give you 2 dollars for it"
chumlee included😂😂😂😂😂
no thanks then i have to take all the risk😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ooooo Worcestershire is wonderful
It's lovely 😍
Never judge a book by it's cover or a boule by it's size or looks.. smile.. Unbelivable little thing with a BigBig supprice value ✨️👍✨️
I’m gay.

@@Curious-Minds Buy me a beer and find out. That kind of gay.
@@hjordistorfa Thank you! Dick and honestly is how I roll! 😊 📕 🐶 🏳️🌈
“Nooo.” 😂
£5,000-£10,000 doesn't spund like much but back then it was a lot of money.
Man that's amazing how old it is! I am only 57. And I don't look anywhere as good as that.😂😂
Smile I like your humor..it's only numbers anyway.. Enjoy life 💕✌️
You can be a 'sauce boat' ' at 57! Be saucy!
Always learning and it's fun to see what estimated values are.
Good for him ☝️🇺🇸
Love it
😘❤️👍🙏😀 Well-done good job God bless
Back when the Roadshow was watchable, before it became the Fiona Bruce show. Time flies and she is now an antique.
Exactly,I remember when hugh scully was presenter
I enjoy watching & learning from Fiona Bruce’s deep dive research program, that helps the owners find out if their painting is a genuine antique, & a treasure.
.
Seeing how a paintings is authenticated for the owner is fascinating to me. I truly never knew how many steps went into, solving the puzzle of determining if a painting is indeed a treasure or just something that is nice to enjoy.
@@ritagreen6499I used to really like Fake or Fortune. The first series where Bendor Grosvenor was the resident detective at Philip Mould's gallery was great. They got rid of him and he started Britain's Lost Masterpieces. Then it became the Fiona show and she somehow became an expert on Van Dyke and the like. I recently rewatched all dozen or so series on i-player. I watched just for the art. I stopped when it became the Fiona show. Question Time was better before her. I say this without bias. I used to fancy her. She is not an expert on all things. She is a presenter. Not an antiques valuer as she has done on the Roadshow, nor a fine art academic.
@ritagreen6499
Happy for you. I know you need it, just to heat your home in England.
😢😢😢😢😢😢
Salute ! To the appraiser and owner. Mind ! Your own business to the nosey people hanging around.
Pretty good for a cracked bit of crockery.
Womans voice from the background asks,
"What'd he say??"
After the gasp. 😂😂😂
Love the way the orientals imitated European styles, and exported these wares for the western market, while the European factories were busy copying the orientals! It's not called china for nothing...
5-10,000? I’ll take it.
Jeepers!!
Cool
Stay at Uncle Chuck’s Cabin Rental for a few shillings
Professional salesmen be like:
Blimey, our cat is eating out of one of those.
How the hell is it only 10,000? I’m not even close to an expert but I would have guessed since it’s mid 18th century, and being an important piece of British history, it would be worth a lot more
It is the estimate in the late 90’s, almost 20 years ago, and some excellent inflationary years ago …
The upper end of the estimate would be 25,000 pounds today if it held its value.
@@anniebodyhome1000 thank you guys for clarifying
It’s worth is only held to the right person!!!
Like the TE Lawrence guy, I was half expecting him to say he thought China was a fictional land
❤❤❤
Just like real BBC an old repeat as usual, but still charge an up to date fee for the licence
Where did fanny rose go😂😂😂
It's pronounced "chien long" NOT "ken long".
It’s what we call Score!!😎👏👏
Whatever figure he says, times it by ten.
Every English person in the room is wet for this
What does that mean? Wet,if it means anything.
They don't get wet over this. A little damp, maybe.
Back then that would buy you half a house!
Was that Ed Sheeran
I thought it was Phil Collins for a sec
Can you please drop it on the floor so that I can see if it that kind of money 😂😂
One of the most important pieces ever on the road show is only between 5-7k? That seems off if it’s one of the most important pieces
Markets will only pay so much for even best examples. Historical mportance doesn't always translate to high value (although I'd say 10k in '98 qualifies as high!)
The show was 25 years ago, so it could be double/ treble the price.
Important in an historical context
Today you get 10 - 20 percent from this price on ebay. 🤨
I hate the way they always poke the delicate items
I used to love watching Antiques Roadshow, now I can't stand it.
?
The bald dude thins down would look putin
I'll give you £13 for it, and I'm robbing myself. Old aht yer 'and!!!
Can you say that again please
…. 🍑 🌹!… ah Gotcha 👍
I WOULDN'T EAT MY CRUNCHBERRIES OUT OF THAT CRAP
💩
Looks nothing like Asian porcelain
Yeah…sure. 🙄
Its a very ugly, I mean early piece.....
He forgot another zero
Not in 1997 he didn't. You could probably add one now though!
Why would you post something like that without showing the mark on the bottom? Sloppy.
