I just found this show, the radio version anyway, I listen to a lot of OTR while I sleep, mostly horror shows lol, but then I found this show, and although alot of it is pop culture references we could never understand without really being there, but this show never ceases to make me laugh. I don't care who you are, these people had a formula that predated Seinfeld by 60 years at the earliest, the premise of everyday comedy, and it's timeless for the most part..
My father introduced me to Jack Benny a couple years ago… I saw the Liberace skit where he comes out with a candelabra on the violin and I about fell out of my seat laughing… been hooked ever since

this show is so cute :) . I think he could have been a little more bad ass or shameless in his comedy if he weren't so conventional in his story line and so on :-/ . such a snoozer. It's a little edgier than Lucy though.
First of all, so-called "Jack Benny" was not his real name. There was absolutely nothing wrong with his birth name Benjamin Kubelsky. Most likely the name change was as the result of pressure from a greedy Business Manager or Studio, with the idea of perceived greater recognition and possible monetary gain?! The business of changing one's birth name is the ultimate insult towards your parents & heritage. The ONLY time a name change should happen is when a woman gets married. If a married women DOESN'T change her last name, then that's an insult to her husband.
What are you on about? Ffs, enjoy the classic comedy and laugh a bit. Sounds like you need it. Oh, and the women of the world don’t give a crap what you think of them deciding or not deciding to change their name. That is all. 👋🏼
@rossmartenak5517 Go check his wikipedia entry. One (he not her as you wrote) was forced to change his name twice because other vaudeville performers had similar names and believed his name would cause confusion among the ticket buyers. Two, his wife changed her name when she went into show business herself!
Happy 130th birthday to Jack Benny!
Imean 39th, of course!
In a world which has mostly forgotten Jack Benny, let alone quality Jack Benny, I thank you very much!

It's interesting how the Frank Nelson character has been reintroduced via The Simpsons, but very few people know the reference.
Haven't seen this one before. Hilarious!😂 RIP Jack.

If I were Tom Papa I’d be pitching a Jack Benny biopic to every producer in Hollywood.
In the early 60's the average younger man was probably around as fit as those men in the gym. Thats getting closer to unthinkable today
When Hollywood was another neighborhood in Los Angeles that we would not mind visiting..Today as us New Yorkers would say Foorrrrrgehd about it!
This first scene looks like the same set for Mr ,Drysdale's office in the Beverly Hillbillies !
The gym attendant was Alan Hale, Jr (The skipper from Gilligan's Island).

People often add milk or cream and/or a bit of flour to omelettes. Flour to give it "body".

It was a stage name. Jack was unlikely to have started with a manager -- he started in vaudeville, travelling.
