Matt always knocks it out of the park.!! Excellent video.!! I spend 25 minutes watching the video then an hour in the description poking thru all of the tackle. The best fishing channel imo
I think a very beneficial video would be WHEN TO NOT THROW A BIG BAIT. like certain things you look for that tell you it's not conducive for the big bait.
Ever since finding your channel, my confidence, fishing style, and success have dramatically changed. I bought blade baits because of you months ago, fished them for months nothing....then I hammer 20+ fish on them including a 5lb class fish and lose a true trophy at the boat. These videos are the easy button for becoming a power fisherman in my base.
Spinners are about the only lure I throw with regularity - I'll tie on a couple other lures to switch it up, but the spinner bait is such an effective and versatile lure that you don't really need anything else. Unless the fish aren't biting lol
I enjoy these videos and since I've implemented techniques I've caught my 2 pb in 2 trips a 5lb spot and at 6.5 lb largemouth each trip I've thrown these baits they have yielded bigger fish yes it difficult fishing sometimes but the reward is worth the time.
Always love to see the subtle (and in some case not so subtle) differences that really hit you with that underwater footage. It’s great to see WHY certain presentations may work better at certain times. Thanks for your work on this as it really helps in deciding the which/when/where when zeroing in on the bass!👍
6" scottsborro with a 8/0 flashy spin.wake it just under surface parallel fast fast fast all the way to the back.the closer the better.get yo neck broke.lol
Great video with some awesome info. Loved the underwater footage. Maybe you guys can do a video of just underwater footage of bass striking swimbaits. That would be pretty cool to watch. Thanks for sharing. Tightlines and cheers 🍺 my friend.
I've been loving the Savage Gear gills with the wedge tail in all the sizes, haven't got any bites on the trout yet tho. I like the Huddleston gill too but the Savage Gear have pleasantly surprised me
have you guys used the new spro KGB chad shad I have some of the original OG KGBs and they are awesome would be cool to see a review of the new spro version from you guys
@@tacticalbassin awesome I’m yet to get one the custom ones are legit and super good chopping style baits so I’ll be waiting for that final opinion I’m sure the plastic SPRO ones could come in handy since they are semi transparent unlike custom resin baits
Awesome, a video building off of previous information. Giving your viewers credit that they can evolve and make good decisions based on conditions. Straying away from the same ol information. I applaud you.
Speaking of budget rods, I'm very fond of the Okuma Guide Select Xtra Heavy/ Fast 7'11" Swimbait rod. It handles my A-rig needs and most all my larger swimbait needs like a champ, with a 2-10 oz lure rating.
I almost definitely spend far less on rods and reels than 90% of bass fishermen. I only buy the Walmart Special - a good 6' medium action Shakespeare and a Zebco closed face; comes spooled with 8lb fluorocarbon. It's a cheap setup, but I've caught monster steelheads and my PB 4' channel cat on em. So, unless you NEED a specific rod to impart a specific action to your lure, i think the vast majority of guys spend way too much on tackle.
I got a couple of the stealth swimmer lures to see how they work. I hear their awesome an what makes them even better you have the hooks submerged an come out when fish bites. These lures you can throw in pads or grass so they'll be awesome to catch quality fish.
Morning Matt and Tim. Your channel is awesome, thank you. Rod question for you. Ever reviewed, tried or have an opinion on Phenix M1 Casting Rods. I am thinking about trying them, but would like someone's POV before I order.
Awesome video. I have a question for you guys. Ice out in a natural lake. They stock a lot of the lake in the fall for ice fishing with trout. What would use for ice out. Thank you
That S-Waver story i knew you were gonna show this clip. I always wondered what you kept looking back at. I fished this rockpile many times and did well on it up until the drought.
Thanks for the info brother. I was at Watts bar Lake last year didnt do very well. Are you guys taking anyone on guided trips at Chickamauga? Im usually in Sweetwater Tenn. every 4th july for a week visiting my uncles farm. I would enjoy traking a trip with you or Tim.
So concerning whether to fish shallow or deep running baits, if the max depth is only 7-8 feet then baits like the mag draft should be ok all winter long?
Do you think a dobyn's sierra series, 7' 6" heavy, would be able to throw the savage gear 8" trout. I'm a young angler with only a few do all rods and can't afford a specialized rod at the moment
where would you put the 7" citizen in the winter swimbait catagories? not an option? to much action? the warmer day bottom contact with the magdraft as a compliment?
Hey Matt, You've said you throw a Sunline Saltimate leader, which Saltimate product do you use as a leader material? The Saltimate Tunageat or the Saltimate FC System Shock Leader? What pound test leader do you use with your 80lb MaxCuatro line? Thanks.
What zodias model were y’all using in this video for the 6 inch burrito? Also wondering if y’all have any rod recommendations for the ganterel jr, I seem to be pulling hooks with jig rod and want a dedicated light swimbait setup.
Hey Matt @Tacticalbassin. I'm just getting into the big baits ... I've already purchased a phenix ultra swimbait classic rod 8H but wanted to ask what reel you'd recommend I pair it with. I'll prob use it to chunk 6-8" baits like the Savage gear and Hud. Willing to spend $250-$300. Also want to know if the combo could be used for the s waiver as well or do I need a lighter tip rod or diff combo altogether....fishing reservoirs here in SoCal.
How do you like that rod? I’m a big fan of Phenix rods I have 2 of the Feather’s. I almost bought that rod but got the 7’6” XH Expride B. I use mainly soft Swimbaits. The Tranx 300 is a great reel
@Ryan Smith ... love them to death bro! I've got a pretty good collection of Phenix rods (20+ rods) spinners and casting....everything from their ultralight (elixirs and dragonfly for panfish and trout) ( recons, feathers, ultras, and M1s for bass) all the way up to their black diamonds series for the extra little "umph" and backbone. I bought my first one and was hooked!! I live 5 minutes from their warehouse and often find myself in there playing around with their products, and sometimes do warranty exchanges if/when needed (I've had a few missteps in the boat and landed on some tips) Yeah I saw under Matt's post he listed the Tranx. I may just go that route. I was looking at a few lexas too. What size swimbait are you chuckin?
@Ryan Smith those feathers are awesome too. Unbelievably light with some backbone I've got one paired woth a 3000 sustain and it balances well. Liked it so much I went back and bought more of those ...I think i have a tatula on one of the others
If you're using the Storm LiveEye ones, they work wonders. I've caught bass, walleye, pickerel, huge shiners, and even trout on the little sunfish ones (so hard to find, anymore - I swear, every lure that really works they stop making).
What about dragging a Hud instead of reeling? Do you find that the rod moves the bait more/faster than the reel does? Or is it a reasonable substitute if you're the type who has a tough time slowing down?
@@tacticalbassin is RC in the oaks arm? Just moved to Clearlake… The dobyns is a broomstick of a rod. Use that as my jig hook and the 795 fury for trebles. Really interested in the st Croix bass x swimbait models.

My home lake is having a HUGE fish kill. Mostly crappies and bluegills but I've found some 7lbrs dead with some 3lbrs, would u even waste your time fishing a fish kill?
