From this comment thread I assume your name used to be Socially Awkward Gaming then you finally developed a coping mechanism and now you are the Alcoholic Titan. Good video btw.
Thanks. Also the name change is something more along the lines of this used to be a group channel and then one of us ruined it so i got it and made it a bit more personal.
Hey there, great job on this video! You have a nice demeanor for tutorials. Just one thing I'd like to point out - when you talk about quarries and mines, you got it backwards - you need iron to make quarries and stone to make mines, not the other way around(otherwise you'd find yourself in a pinch pretty easily).
+Socially Awkward Gaming No problem! I mean, not that you can change it now, and people will PROBABLY figure it out(you never know), but just for future thought. :)
I find boarding houses useful during your first years ( 1-5 ), as this allows you to build stone houses off the bat, which are easier to heat and reduce your need for firewood/logs. Also a boarding house is an ideal place to temporarily house any nomads. Also, schools increase the productivity of your graduated workers by approximately 40%.
I have no idea what this game is, but I think this is your best tutorial yet! I don't feel like I have to be taking notes because it's speeding by at the speed of light :P
Thank you so much for this comment! Banished, if you're wondering, is like a medieval Sim City or Tropico where the focus is on survival instead of money.
Building the boarding house in first place can be useful to manage your citizen birthrate and position, in addition with the upgrade house button and the reclaim button before it get upgraded. It empty the house then when you click reclaim, a couple can appear, try again if not, and if it doesn't work you probably don't have a valid couple and should do this xith other house to make a valid couple. This help to make children and to make your citizen move to other house. Plus food need to be in one boarding house instead of 4 house that will drain your stock quickly at start.
You actually dont have to switch out your farmers in Winter. People who cant work their job (for example because ist winter or there are no ressources available) will automatically act like a normal worker, until they can do their job again
Schools are pretty important before you build farms. Their twice as productive so it halved the number of farmers you need. FYI - Educated workers don’t die as often from falling rocks in the quarry😉
Good info thanks, one thing though I have found the Herbalist critical in keeping your population healthy. I agree growing crops seems to a waste of manpower and space. But...farmers once assigned to fields will automatically join the pool of labourers after harvest and plant their fields in season at the correct time.
Thank you for this! I do well in the first couple years, then about around year 4-6, everyone dies of starvation. Also- is there ANY other way to getting live stock other then the trade posts? Years in a single town go by and the only market traders that come by only have simple food, no livestock.
0:30 I've read that the Herbalist and Forester dont work well together as the forester cuts trees down, while the herbalist needs mature trees for the best foraging. Is that true? I've only started playing but I start with a forester, hunting cabin and gatherer in one group, I later start another group with herbalist, hunting cabin and gatherer.
I've noticed fishing huts are close to useless. I had 3 fishing huts apart from each other and working at full capacity for 20 villagers and they starved. Like literally 16 villagers were constantly fishing and they couldn't feed themselves and 4 others.
When you have too many houses & a storage barn with no food, everyone makes a food grab. Pause the game & check each's house's inventory. Upgrade all houses but 1 to temporarily stop the "food grab" event. Once there's enough food in the storage barn, you can cancel the upgrades & everything should return to normal
People die naturally in Banished. they can be hit by cave while mining stones or get food poison while collecting berries. Not die?? LOL Having some casualty at the beginning of the game is a good strategy cause you can move to a better location that allows your settlement to thrive quickly early on. This is true especially for the hard mode with mountainous terrain. If you start settling down where you settlement first lands, most likely you will end up at a very bad location making your life very difficult in the first ten years.
Hey could you help me out, I’m trying to not die hence why I’m here but a lot of my peoples health is average to 3 and a half. Is there anyway to restore that health? Thanks
I have 30 laborers walking around my town, all stone houses because I heard they save firewood, 3 churches for happiness, and herbs and hospital for health. Pop:~350 all educated
then that means they're not getting it in their homes fast enough, I've had this problem too so thats why I build storage barns everywhere lol not just grouped up
Doesn't matter what you do, citizens consume way too much and are too stupid to use firewoods. It's like the developers didn't even care about creating a good AI for the game.
@@AlcoholicTitan I gave this a good old try couple hours ago right after watching your video. It all went well until they stopped their procreation. I searched for a solution and somebody said I need to build a house right after a child reaches the age of 10 otherwise they can't do anything in the same house and that's where I was like yea I'm done with this sh..😂😂 it's not well-thought-out which sucks cuz it does have potential. Do you know a better alternative to this with also low system requirements?
@@vleaky3430 I always recommend rimworld, I know it's fairly low spec but will struggle when events spawn in. If you're looking for a bigger challenge I'd say stuff like frostpunk or maybe oxygen not included. There's also this neat little early access title called moons of Ardan that's like a casual version of Anno if that's more your speed. On the more intensive side, not sure really what the requirements are, I'd say stuff like surviving mars, space havem (E.A.), or Autonauts if you like programming stuff.
@@vleaky3430 bro plz help me my peoples are dieng after starvation after 5 minutes that i play the game , i start game yersterday i made fruit but after some seconds one by one everyone is dieng of hunger, what should i do?
Thank God I found this. The only good tutorial video that isn't like half an hour long. Brilliant!
Toby Hills I'm glad it helped you! May your people never starve =)
Socially Awkward Gaming Haha. It certainly will help. It was like a death simulator before your tips haha. Thanks

great guide, no stupid long preliminary speeches, no dumb jokes, you just kept it simple and to the point. Cheers.
Me putting 90% of my population on fishing docks all build right next to each other and wondering why they kept dying of starvation brought me here
Revisiting Banished, this taught me gameplay mechanics I had not yet found out - even after so many years. Thanks!
May the crops be ever in your barn yards.
lmfao!
So far your video has provided me with the tips nobody else gave... thank you!

I'm 9 years late to this game lol, thanks for your tips, i was struggling with food supply

But I want them doing productive work like fishing, hunting, wood cutting, etc during Winter (not acting as laborers)

Save the game before the Trader arrives at the Trading Post. If you don't like what's available, reload the game.
Nice tutorial.🥰
Helped me alot,thanks.
Ey girl u deserve much more attention
So helpful tysm this games so nice and chilled
Thank you!
Good short simple video.
Who else is playing this game in 2019 and still liking it 😁😁
Dude this game is timeless, I love it. Ive tried many others similar but nothing like Banished SPECIALLY with CC mod.
2021 nearly 2022 i love it

the hoarding thing is absolutely cancer.
Tip nr. 18 came tolate for the people of novakin. The horror of seeing 78/79 people far up in the air

If you mix up their diets with multiple types of food they tend to have a higher average health.
Alcoholic Titan ok thank you, I heard herbalists also raise health is this true?
I believe they do, but food is really important for basics, make sure you have enough before you start spreading your colonists thin.
apparently my version does not have gatherest hut

Herbalist isn't a luxury building lol
Ok,not gona lie, female voice scared me at beginning

100% right, they dropped this game ages ago. There are way better alternatives.

Don't get Cattle, but get Cows instead. Cattle only give leather and meat, cows give you Milk as well
It's been a while since i played Banished , but aren't cattle and cows the same thing?
No, cattle are brown. Cows are Frisians
There is no milk on vanilla Banished i think. So prob thats a mod feature.
I don’t think you really know the game
Thank you so much, babes! Awesome tips!
