- Samantha Rust @sammy.rust is back and this time with her friend Tia Ngum @tai.ngum to go surf Ala Moana Bowls on the day before the peak of the latest SSW swell to hit Oahu's South Shore. It turned into an enchanting evening with a glowing sunset due to the partly cloudy weather and plenty of girls getting out there with their longboards at bowls having a great time ❤️.

I want to thank you and your photographer for the beautiful video of the water from above. It has been a very long time since I was able to surf and looking down at the reef as you ride a wave was one of the greatest sights one could ever see and feel, and I missed that feeling all the time. I have watched many surf vides very few every show the water from above most just show their target surfer riding the wave. from afar. Thanks to the invent of the camera drones we the viewer can now see "and reminisce" about what the surf actually sees when they are on the wave watching the reef pass under their feet and board. thank you for that, it made me realize how much more I missed the sport, but I am grateful that I was able to surf until my accident left me disabled. Thanks again for sharing I truly appreciate the aerial shots

Great job! I lived not far from there in the 70's, I miss it. Makes me want to buy a long board. I'm in the PNW. I was a medium board guy 8'6". When I lived there I had a 6'10" bonzer board. I definitely want a long board.

HI Elmy, I love your channel!! It's so good to see Hawaii surf, thank you for sharing! I was wondering if you could give me some advice please. I'm going to Waikiki in early Feb, and wondered what the surf will be like for long boarding. thanks so much for your help. em
Also, I'd be most grateful if you could recommend other places to surf with a longboard outside of Waikiki please. thank you so much
Aloha Em mahalo for your comment and support! Normally waikiki has waves in the summer starting March or April through November ish. I’m not sure waikiki will be waves in Feb, depending on the swells and the locations.
You can rent surfboard in Northshore too and try surfing on Feb, there are some mellower surf breaks but you need research about it or ask to surf schools then they’ll take you to the best surf spots on Oahu.
If waikiki doesn’t have waves, other surf spots in south shore more likely to have waves. There are several surf companies to rent surfboards and take you to the surf spots. If you need more help let me know I know some good Hawaiian surf guides 😊 Hope it helps!

Yes it's all part of the challenge of balancing on the front of the board.

Sorry we can't reveal that until after Winter Season, the drone scene is extremely competitive in Hawaii and we have more than one drone but I can tell you that if you know how to color grade and set right exposure then you can't go wrong with mini 3 the best drone out there 😊Good luck 🤙🏽

Awsome footage, I am a drone pilot too and making wind Surf movies. But when your are filming into the Light the Colours are turn into Black.. Maybe your White Balance is not on Automatic or the anti flickring is not on. One of them. When you are filming away from the Light your shots are perfect.. Good luck
Yes we'll try that, the weather was overcast, cloudy, and hazy, I know what you mean when the angle shows it dark
We found the problem, we need to turn off the auto white balance to keep the colors the same from the different angles. Mahalo for your comment otherwise I would prob never have changed it 🙏🏽
