Yellow Crested Weedfish, (Cristiceps aurantiacus)

This is a clinid species and is found in New South Wales, Australia and Northern New Zealand.
It's main threat is kelp die off due to kina overpopulation, as they need the kelp to survive in.
Over fishing of species that prey on kina, like snapper, is the usually the reason for kina barrens appearing in areas.
We saw this swimming above the kelp and then land in the kelp, scuba diving on a private charter at Litte Barrier Island with New Zealand Diving.
