The Shorts Tucano T-MK1s are manufactured in the UK under license from Embraer. It's basically the same aircraft with some differences amongst engine, avionics and even the placement of the mufflers which goes underneath the aircraft rather than on the side such as the Brazilian version. Embraer is the original designer/owner of the the Tucano aircraft.
Actually it's an enhanced version of the Embraer EMB-312 Tucano built by Short Brothers in Northern Ireland. The engine is not Pratt & Whitney, but a Garrett turboprop. I hope Embraer to learn with them and produce avionics beyond Elbit.
Tucano means "Toucan", name given to the forest bird by brazilian indian tribes. The A - 10 Thunderbolt has a powerful canon and its structure manage fire that an A - 29 can`t. But, the A - 29 can perform 70 % of missions of A - 10 with very low cost. One hour of flight of A - 29 costs 700 to 1000 dollars. One hour of flight of A - 10 costs 12000 to 17000 dollars. An A - 29 can be 12 hours flying without refueling if it is with two new support tanks on wings. The plane is brazilian, made by the world famous hungarian aircraft designer, Joseph Kovacs. The engine is from the american factory Pratt - Whitney, from Canada, with 1600 hp. The panel electronic parts are from Israel. It works with several armament from US too. Embraer is the brazilian air force maker, but it became private since 1994. There's several investors in Embraer and the four biggest investors are Brandes Investment Partners (US, 14,4%), Mondrian Investment Partners (United Kingdon, 10,1%), BNDESPar (Brazil, 5,4%) and the Blackrock (US; 5,0%). All A - 29 that US is using in US or in other countries are made in US by Embraer and Sierra Nevada, an american company. More than 90 % of workers are americans.
I wish you every success with this venture, though I'd be suprised if you needed it. This is a lot of aeroplane for the money - if I had the cash I'd be placing my order right now! I notice that the canopy no longer has the detonation chord. Did you remove the live seats and refabricate the canopy? Makes sense for the civil user. Kind regards from the U.K, CH.
The main differences between the Shorts Tucano and the Embraer 312 Tucanos is that the Shorts version , build under licence from Embraer, was equipped with a stronger engine with 4 bladed propeller, reinforced and hence 15% heavier airframe and an under fuselage airbrake which the original Tucano did´nt have. Both very nice planes though..
Certainly, It is produced in the UK. Though, it is still Embraer's know how. Just like the turkish F-16's are still General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin's.
Certainly, the engine is different, still the aircraft is Embraer's development. I just wanted to remind this, because they don't even mention Embraer in the video.
British version of the Embraer Tucano made by Shorts with a different engine. Does Embraer sells Tucanos to the civilian market? If not you are losing a market with the Warbird collector crowd. A civilian, fully certified for civilian intrument flying would be cool to have if you are a millionaire.
Whoah ang on, Its not the primary trainer... The RAF has 4 training levels for all pilots,, if your posted to fly fast jet after flying the Grob Tutor, you go to fly the Tucano after the tucano you go to 208 to fly the BAE Hawk which after completing you then go to fly the same hawk at 19 SQN where you learn to fight with it if you pass that you go on a conversion to fly either the Tornado or the Eurofighter..Helicopter pilots anr cargo/transport/bomber pilots dont go near tucanos..

Super Tucano excellent powerful machine that has won the soul of the pilots 💯%
I'm passionate about Spitfires, and seeing a Toucano in the RAF, it's rewarding.

They are the british cousins of the brazilian ones. Produced in the land of the spitfire

Why do you need 250 hrs before you can start training on it?
how do I order?

Is the 3th airplane manufacturer in the world!!! Brazil rules!!!
Does anyone remember it's Embraer?
BRASILEIRO!!!!
BRAZILIAN!!!!!!
do Tucano original.
Certainly, the engine is different, still the aircraft is Embraer's development. I just wanted to remind this, because they don't even mention Embraer in the video.
I have performed the weight and balance on both aircraft and they were within 50 pounds of each other
BRAZIL!!!

Um T-27 (EMB-312) modificado (short tucano T-1 ou S.312) para treinamento da RAF.

They used to...idk if they're still selling it to civilians tho
what if I had 2 million dollars and only 200 hours?

"A turboprop that flies like a jet." And you say it is even comparable to WW2 fighters? No. It has nothing to do with it.
They didnt even mention Brasil or Embraer...so sad...i mean they are sad...Embraer - respect.
You don't have to mention Embraer, everyone in the field knows that. Just as the KC-390.
T-27 tunning ??? Tucano made in brazil !
The version of the RAF, is insfinitely superior to ours in Brazil, and you are not more than 50% of what he is capable...
Hey americans. Dont forget that TUCANO is MADE IN BRAZIL FROM EMBRAER!!!
MADE IN BRAZIL
