- The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (NeuroMat) will hold the workshop “Random Graphs in the Brain II” in São Paulo, in November 18 and December 9, 2024.
This interdisciplinary event will bring together experts from neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, functional imaging, mathematics, probability, statistics, and computer science to explore innovative approaches to modeling brain connectivity and cognitive learning. Building on the 2015 workshop, "Random Graphs in the Brain II" revisits key topics such as neuronal interaction models, brain network hierarchies, and system criticality.
The 2015 workshop addressed mathematical challenges in devising models that could give a realistic sense of how neurons interact, taking into consideration the neuronal and functional dimensions of the brain, the hierarchical properties of brain connectivity and system’s criticality. This event paved the way for the ongoing research program within NeuroMat, and nine years later, the team aims to expand upon these foundational topics, discussing novel approaches to model cognitive learning and community detection within neuronal networks. Featured speakers include Peter F. Stadler, Aline Duarte, Eva Loecherbach, and more.
