SRI LANKA FAMILY HOSTING AFRICAN BOY FOR 24hrs 🇱🇰

I got hosted for the first time in a Sinhalese family in Sri Lanka monaragala town. Had to stay for about 24hrs in this family where they treated me so well cooked for me the Sri Lankan curry (local food) and I learnt a lot of culture in this trip .
As an African I can say Sri Lanka have the best heart ever they all gave me their time as a family to an extent of thinking to stay more .
Sinhalese people are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group native to the island of Sri Lanka. They were historically known as Hela people. They constitute about 75% of the Sri Lankan population and number more than 16.2 million. The Sinhalese identity is based on language, cultural heritage and nationality.
Sri Lanka has a population of approximately 22 million people and is home to many cultures, languages, and ethnicities. The Sinhalese people form the majority of the nation's population, followed by the Tamils, who are the largest minority group and are concentrated in northern Sri Lanka;

I got invited to a Sinhalese family in monaragala sri Lanka and had a nice chance to learn about the Sri Lanka culture , the host cooked for me the traditional Sri Lanka local food thus enjoying my best time as as African in Sri Lanka. I can’t express how happy Iam to interact directly with Sri Lanka elderly people.

We Sri lankans take bit of every thing from the plate and mix with rice and eat. It can't do with a sppon. That's why we eat with hands. In small eggplant curry I remove the skin before eat. Mother says she didnt cook chicken because its poya day ( religious day) .Some even don't eat eggs or dried fish on that day. In Sri lanka people have less chance to speak English except in tourist areas or in cities .

The reason they didn't prepare chicken curry for you is that it's Poya Day in Sri Lanka. On this day, Sri Lankan people usually don't eat meat and follow a vegetarian diet as part of their traditional customs.
