    We shot this during the lockdown, when we couldn't really go anywhere. But, the one place we could go was the supermarket. We found a lot of products there that said they were American, and so naturally we had to try it! Do you guys have some American food or some products from America you really like?

      I found the syrup part funny because i live on Aruba. On Aruba its more common to use American products like the american syrup. But i'm dutch so i really like the dutch syrup too. I immediatly understood David when the syrup came from a pakket, and i was like if i was American i would understand that the Dutch syrup looks and tastes weird.

    Omg David, Dutch pancakes are not crepes haha. French crepes are very thin. Dutch pancakes are thicker but still thin enough so you can roll them up. I prefer the Dutch style over thick American ones because you simply get a higher topping to pancake ratio thus more taste. I don't like thick pieces of dough.
    Btw, I prefer my pancakes savory. Throw some slices of bacon in a pan, pour over the mix, fry and add a little Van Gilze schenkstroop. The best!

      Fanta and stuff is of better quality here than in America. America uses tons of stuff that can actually give you cancer. Counts for tons and tons of food. Artificial food coloring yoga mat ingredients in bread. Flame retardant in their mountain Dew. Twice or sometimes even more sugar and salt in their food. The FDA doesn't care. That's why that every American brand you can buy in Europe is made in Europe. Coca cola in the Netherlands is made In Rotterdam for example. The European Union banned the export of food from America. All because Of health risks. It's very bad quality over there in America. Fun fact the Netherlands was the first country in the world who sold sprite zero as regular sprite. Nobody noticed it. I like sour patch kids, goldfish crackers pretzels & goldfish flavoured blasted xtra cheddar. You can actually buy this at the Plusmarkt. Ruffles chips original but in America you have many weird flavours in chips, candy etc. Most Americans are crazy about peanut butter (like Jiff) I'm not a fan. For me it's Calve pindakaas.

      It's just old traditional syrup similar to thick apple syrup. You need a knife to sort of roll around in it and scoop it up. I prefer Dutch schenkstroop by Van Gilze. It's thin enough to be poured over your pancake but thicker than say maple syrup. Schenkstroop comes in a bottle.

    Is it the real McDonald's frietsaus or is it the dutch version of mayonaise which is sweeter than Belgian and what we call "frietsaus" instead of mayonaise. Us Belgians and Dutch people love our sauces, so this topic is SERIOUS.

    • @moladiver6817
      @moladiver6817 2 роки тому

      That's called frietsaus in The Netherlands too. This yellow stuff is something else. It used to be called mad sauce. I kind of like it but prefer a proper mayo anytime.

    • @nonexistingvoid
      @nonexistingvoid 2 роки тому +1

      Her saying it has mayonnaise in it felt wrong to me.
      You can't call frietsaus mayonnaise.
      There's a clear difference between the two, but frietsaus is more popular in the Netherlands.
      I personally prefer mayonnaise, though.
      And the MAD sauce (another name for the "American" sauce) is mostly popular because of the added spices, which McDonald's popularised (and to Dutch people, McDonald's is associated with the US, hence the "American" label)

    • @moladiver6817
      @moladiver6817 2 роки тому

      @@nonexistingvoid That just means it's similar to mayonaise or it's a sauce that's based on mayonaise. Just like curry ketchup isn't ketchup but just contains ketchup.

    Appelstroop grew on me but i *hate* keukenstroop. I'll use it in cooking sometimes but never on a pannenkoek never ever. For Fanta, i'd say that US Orange Fanta has a different texture from the corn syrup, but its flavor taste more like Orange the color and for here in the Netherlands Orange Fanta tastes more like Orange the fruit. Like US Orange Fanta smaakt naar oranje maar NL Orange Fanta smaakt naar sinaasappel lmao

    The first time I realized that the brand of those pizza’s is “Big Americans” instead of “Big American”. It’s just one letter but still.
    Sometimes I buy a supermarket Pizza because I don’t feel like cooking that day. But this brand I usually ignore. I tried it a week ago for the first time in years. It reminded me why I ignored them. The Big AmericanS pizza’s are disgusting sugary I think. It just made to look like a pizza but when you make it in a different shape than there is no association anymore to the origin of “the pizza”.
    Btw, most pizza’s you would buy in the supermarkets only have an excusable percentage of real cheese. It’s in the product to have the brand be allowed to say there is cheese with the pizza. But most of these so called pizza products use over 95 (possibly even over 98) percent a much cheaper product that imitates cheese.

    The Fanta in the Netherlands got a very special own taste. It has a very light taste. The Fanta in Germany taste very different and I don't like that version.
    I was surprised that the hotdog was good. Or the hotdogs in the US are terrible or this ready made hotdog is outstanding according to the normal microwave ready to go style hotdog/hamburger/cheeseburger supermarket food.

    The Dutch love sweet food. To the point the government actually had to step in and limit certain items.
    The reason the Fanta tastes differently is because it has a lower sugar content than it's American counterpart due to government regulations.
