      We have a Pure Flame Brand.
      And I can’t figure out how to open the front glass panel, so I can get in there to clean the inside of the glass.
      Other than that, We HIGHLY recommend an electric fireplace insert.
      You just take it out of the box and plug it in the wall and you’re all set.

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I'm remodeling a beach house and we are using a real wood burning fireplace in the family room but we simply don't have the room in our master bedroom to do another wood burner and so my research brought me to this alternative. I mean, nothing can substitute for a real wood burning fire.....but this is easy, simple, requires no cleaning, can warm a room and is safe to 'set & forget' whereas going to sleep in a room with a fire still burning still seems a bit unsettling. I'm going to recess mine into the wall a bit and build a hearth and mantle but I'll be sure to have ventilation as you provided. Solid info, thanks again!

      Buy a simple Electric Fireplace insert.
      No gas hook up.
      They work great and have a nice very quiet fan to push the heat it puts out.
      You’ll love it. VERY Easy to setup.

    I would advise against using a power strip with the heating function. Space heaters should be plugged directly into an outlet that is solid (aka no lose prongs).

    The build design is seems simple enough and really like the ability to slide the unit in and out for cleaning or service. I might try to build a similar fireplace in my living room. Based on your build video this looks do-able for me.

    Hi, thanks for leaving this great video review! One question: How noisy is the heating unit? Is it ever a nuisance because it's too loud when the heat is all the way up?

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  2 роки тому +2

      Great question! That was one of my concerns. It is super quiet. Unless you turn on the actual crackling sound. The fan when switched on is a low hum but I’ve never thought it was an issue.

    Awesome build! I have one of the eco flame units that burn gel canisters. It's really awesome, but nowhere near as convenient as the module you used in your build. You explain the "how to's" really well, definitely a thumb up!

    Hi! Great video! I want to buy one like this but had a question - I know you did a build specifically for it, but I'm going to try to set it into an old, weird sized metal firebox...are the measurements listed for the back box part of it, or the face frame part? I think it makes it if it's the box part...not sure. Thanks...I know this is an older post, but hoping you see this and can help answer...thanks again for the video - helped me decide! :)

      Hey thanks! Great question. If you go to the Amazon product page here, amzn.to/3Ye9jOI , on the second photo it shows all of the exact dimensions for the size you are selecting. I would use that to determine if yours will work. Hope this helps and good luck on your project!

    Power strip bad 😅 but I get why you’re doing it too. I’m about to install my second Puraflame. The first one is still going strong 8 years later. It was an optional hard wired model that required two 20A lines to the unit. We purchased the same one as you did prior to seeing this video. I’m surprised it is only a plug in model on a 15A circuit. I’m sure that will be fine but I wonder what they changed to allow such a small circuit.

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  10 місяців тому

      Yea I have no idea what they changed. We mostly use it for the light and not the heat so it doesn't draw much power at all. Thanks for watching!

    2 questions:
    1) Where does the heat blow out from?
    2) Does the heat actually feel hot?

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  Місяць тому +1

      Great questions. There is a small vent along top front side where the hot air blows out. Yes, if you turn on the heat setting, it will blow warm air, just like an electric heater. Hope this helps!

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  7 місяців тому

      That is strange. I’m guessing that if it’s been placed in an existing fireplace then the flu was most likely not sealed. I’d call a local chimney company to check it out and give you recommendations.

  • @boameister
    @boameister Рік тому

    I didn’t realize there were side vents for heat. Can those be turned off? I don’t have any venting in my insert area.

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  Рік тому

      I don’t think so. It draws in air to be able to warm up and then shoot it out the front. I’d highly recommend installing some type of air vent to allow it to draw in air. Unless you aren’t using the heat setting.

    • @diywithandrew
      @diywithandrew  2 роки тому +1

      I had thought the same thing but it seems to be weighted in a way to keep it level. The only way to tip it forward is if you pull on it from the top and if the square hole around it is tight it won’t be able to tip either. I also like it loose in order to be able to slide it in and out in case I need to get behind it for any reason. I have mine plugged into a power strip inside the fireplace.
