    Excellent video for us that prefer to fix than buy new in a disposable society! Thank you, Andrea!

    Thank you so much for this video. You have addressed my biggest issues with this wedge. Skywatcher should link to your video from their website for those of us who do push it to the limit. I cant say it enough, but I will just add one final thank you. 🙏

    Thumbs up for this video in 2023. I purchased a star adventurer last year and have been pushing more and more on it. Currently probably at or a little over the limit with guiding and a small refractor. My tracking was getting progressively worse, and I couldn't pin down the issue. After watching this and checking over the wedge, turns out it was a combination of all of them!

    Awesome DIY tutorial to fix rather than just go out and buy. Astro does cost a lot. Thank you very much.

    Very good tour of the wedge. I agree with you that the wedge gets some undeserved criticism due to user error. Your video should help balance the debates.
    One of the common user errors is to confuse the azimuth adjusters as "locks". The push/pull+pin adjustment design is dozens of years old. And it was never intended to HOLD the azimuth. It was designer to adjust it. The two screws on the base (I call them "azimuth lock screws") should be all you need once the mount is aligned in azimuth. The adjusters can be fully released after alignment. I replaced my azimuth lock screws with thumbscrews. Allen wrenches are no fun in cold and dark.
    Also, I don't think it's documented, but the altitude lock arm has that spring inside to allow the user to easily re-orient the arm angle for the most comfort. I stumbled into that by mistake. It's an unappreciated feature.

      yep you are right. likely, the metal lever I suggested has the same spring mechanism.

    Hi, your video is very interesting. I have the same problem as you at 10:55, but the teeth of the gear attached to the bolt are broken. I tried asking at the hardware store, but they don't sell it. Do you know which site sells it? Thank you for your help.

    Nice video Andrea (it takes a lot of time to put content on the web)...

    I wish I saw this video before I broke the lever... I always tightened it too much because I didn't want it to move at all. At my latitude there is not much weight on the Alt adjustment, so it tends to flap around between the gear teeth.

    What is the payload of the wedge (with countweights)?

    • @andreaminoia2002
      @andreaminoia2002  2 роки тому

      I can't find an official number. I would say it should be rated for the max payload plus the weight is the star adventurer and the 1kg counterweight.

    The top part (black) with big teeth is metal or plastic?
