Yeah a lot of artist didn’t play their own instruments
Roscoe is my brother and was about that life, real for real. We lived close by each other in Hollywood in the early 90's. I was D.J.ing in a session and the Boo Yaa Tribe was there and was super cool!! Just good vibes and listening to music..real family vibe. Nothing but love and respect for them. Great interview and video. I'm (SLJ) Slej the Ruff Edge from the Nile Kings on Rhyme Syndicate and (Ammo Dump Me and D.J. Kev said you got any stories. You could immediately see his mind going and him smiling like yeah I got stories I just can't repeat em on camera 😂😂
He speaking facts. NwA wasn't the first to bust. They were the first from the underground of the West Coast to take G raps on a national level. I remember going to a rap show at the convention center where the Boo Yaa Tribe performed on stage with a arena full of crips were booing in the crowd. Gang of Hoovers wasn't feeling it in the 90's. The whole Tribe had on red belts and was banged out playing live instruments. Kam performed that night with that song Whoop whoop (dissing Ice Cube)mid 90's was no joke. I remember seeing Keke Loco back stage with royal blue clarks(whollabees). Fools was bangin when bangin was a death wish. I thought they was all crazy. Thanks Kev Mac for bringing these wicked LA memories back to life. The Tribe was definitely with the business.
RIGHT!.. BEFORE THEM WAS TOTTY TEE..MIXMASTER SPADE
LOL Ice-T was doing it then NWA brought it to the mainstream and then a bunch of other people start hopping along boo yaa tribe was dope man but don't start rewriting history saying they did it before NWA come on now just enjoy the interview man
THE 4TH SON you must not know Ice T and Samoan Godfather go way back, and you know Ice T said that Gangsxta Ridd was one the first ones he’s heard of do gangsta rap
THE 4TH SON Boo yaa tribe was the first ones banging on wax.. everyone else was just rappers! Boo yaa was banging on stage and suwoopin and cuhhrippin on wax and in there videos!!

Kev, you should ask him about the prison dynamics, from a Polynesian point of view
Honestly, our politics are easy but when it's time to crack, there only about 5-6 of Usos on a yard.

"I got a letter and it's written by the o.g. he said to take care watch out for the family. But when he got out lookin for his old friends,he found his son in a circle gettin quoted in." Booya had classic material.

@@gregorysantos5762 thank you gangsta historian. I've heard the term a hundred times, never seen it written out. If you listened to the song though,he pronounces it quoted.

Remember Cypress Hills first album in 1991? At the beginning of "hole in the head" Gansta Ridd is on the excerpt. Only recently did I find out that B-real and Sen Dog were both Bloods before the music.
Its a Tribe thang.
BooYaa Tribe are definitely pioneers of hip hop gangsta rap . Muck respect ✊

kev mac, next time ask people about big moments they remember for their neighborhood/gang. both good and bad
Met these cats in London back in the 80s in a burger King joint when they was buying out the whole shop lol,I said guys I beg you just leave me a couple whoppers and fries, and they said we got you homie,as I knew instantly who they were,so I was showing them mad love, and as we got talking one of them just handed me a massive bag with 5 whoppers and 5 fries and loads of side pieces,I never even knew existed in burger King 😆 nxt minute a couple broads caught my eyes waiting in the que,so as I started hitting on these girls, the tribe was watching and quickly slides in,nxt minute we all back in there hotel on park lane, and rocking these broads out, that was the most surreal experience I've had with any rappers from anywhere in the world, dude's was the realist,at the time that I've had ever met,but I have met snoop jay z,all in London before they really got huge, and both were very down to earth, but nothing like the boo ya tribe, and one more who has to get that shout out is chuck d,met him in a Japanese restaurant in London, and before I can say anything dude just pulled out his chair for me to join him on his table on his own,now that's what you call class and treating people as you would treat them that's my exact words I told him,as I accepted his request, that brother is on a different level of intelligence,he should run for president, big we know usa, would never ever vote for a man of substance, who would change the face of usa in a flash
Liked video before watching... now I'm finna grab me some kfc from up the street so I can watch this masterpiece while I eat 😎💯
