When I was a kid my bedroom walls were white. I told my dad that I wanted to paint on them and so he told me to just draw on them. By the time I moved out every inch of my bedroom walls were covered in drawings and writings. Creativity is who I am.
Crochet, doodling, crafting various other things with paper. Totally looks UNWITCHY. 😂 I don’t fit that mold and I tried for too long. I LOVE color and I LOVE to use ALOT of it!!! Making makes me feel better and more grounded. I see magic in EVERYTHING!!!! ✨ 💕💕💕
My inner child has become my second-in-command. Every time I feel them tug on my shirt I know it’s time to drop everything and focus on what they have to say.
Number two hit so hard and I honestly felt tears welling up. That was always something that was present for me growing up & I'm still working through it. Thanks for including it in this list.
Number three hits very hard. I had to go through such times. When I'm not creative my body sends psychosomatic syptoms. And after all I'm really grateful for my heart and mind for taking care of me. But all the other signs fits me so well. I like to name myself these days a creative explorer. But I really like the idea of an Art Witch, because I strongly believe in the sense of wonder and magic in life and how art can change myself and the world. Thank you for reminding me to just be myself. Greetings from Germany.
For me, the importance of the process of creating and how it coexists with the materials used and the intentions put into the work far surpasses the results of the final form.
This part REALLY got to me "The pallet of trees and sunsets fill you with such a pure happiness it sometimes feels like sadness." we get such magical sunsets here and I do not have the words to describe them adequately at times. All of this list was so me. Thank you.
I have a complicated relationship with rules I can actually be a little obsessed with rules in certain situations. I think this comes from my parents not being the most emotionally stable people, they weren't abusive or anything but both grew up with alcoholic parents so I think this caused some issues with there emotional regulation. Growing up it was hard to know what was going to upset them it often felt like the "rules" were always changing. I also peed my pants a lot as a child and needless to say was bullied a lot and often felt very lost, stressed and terrified in social situations. This has caused an intense fear of offending or upsetting the people around me and so in social situations I tend to get very anxious if the "rules" aren't clear so I can "know what is expected of me". I think in a lot of ways this is why I'm personally drawn to solitude and creativity it's the one place I feel I am free to express myself without having to worry about what the rules are and whether I'm upsetting or offending people around me.
Thank you Molly. You are so inspiring. I often feel like I am not good enough to be an art witch, or anything for that matter. Yay PTSD. But the reminder that it is all about intention and less about skill is helpful. I need to post that all over my house. XO
I'm so happy I found you here on UA-cam. Thank you for this video. I've never really fit in. I have been realizing lately that, that is not necessarily a bad thing ❤ I have been on a magical and healing journey and art is fast becoming an important part of it. Blessed Be!!!
Damn. I’m a baby witch and I have been struggling to find my place. I’m coming from evangelicalism. My instinct after a lifetime in the church is to find “rules”. I don’t like them, but I’ve been afraid of what would happen if I “did it wrong”. I feel so seen. You literally described me. I’mma go cry now.
I have always loved creating things in so many different items but always worried it wasnt good enough. But I'm so glad that I can be an art witch from a beginner art witch
I AM a Moon Baby! Thank you! It felt like you were describing me to a tee. I truly feel awful if I don't get to be creative. I truly feel happy whenever I am creating. I've always just put together stuff from the unlikeliest materials and turn it into something very interesting Thanks for the share! I've subscribed to your Channel. I'm interested in more of your content :)
Whoah! I’ve been going through a witchy journey for a little more than a year officially and this is one of the most resonating chats about “what kind of witch are you” video I’ve seen to date. I’ve had a hard time defining even to myself where I “belonged”. I feel connected to so many things that I thought I should just call my self eclectic. But I’ve stated to many a friend and family that I just have a need to “make things” All kinds of things… it never occurred to me that maybe that’s where my witchy strength is highlighted. 🥰 thanks bunches for your words out loud!!
For YEARS I've been struggling with what to call myself... With finding a short term to encapsulate my professional activity, which for me is more than a job, it's me living my life. I finally found it. :) I'm an art witch. Thank you so much!
Nearly yes to all. I was the kid who drew on the wall - and as an only child it's what kept me company - that and an imaginery friend! I've always love making art, though these days writing is my passion, but I want to get back into art and drawing again. And yes I do get depressed when I can't create, it is something my husband doesn't understand and he says I never grew up.
Thank you for your insight and wisdom! Although overall I identify as a chaos magician, I find myself going into art wizard mode more often than not and sometimes end up creating something very avant-garde bizarre in the process😅
I just found you from watching Alwyn Oak you tube who talked about your book. Watched several videos you made. I cannot believe your subscriber number is so low. I think if you named your channel after your book you would triple your subscribers.♥️🌿🌸
I've always enjoyed drawing and making art projects. In 2018 I finally decided to get into witchcraft and Tarot. It's an amazing journey for me but also I've found out that I'm very drawn to making my own tools such as crafting boxes with recycled materials for my Tarot cards (somehow it helps me to connect a lot with the cards while also giving them a new home). Also I enjoy creating sigils and hiding them on some art projects and items, it gives them more power. At the moment I'm currently working on a story that is an hypersigil and I'm having so much fun. Thank you Molly for always inspiring us to give art witchcraft a try! :D
I definitely still draw like a child. I got a lot of "art blocks" in me that I need to release from a negative past in art. I was ALWAYS shut down by crummy teachers and everyone. As kids, we aren't taught how to properly deal with life and people, or at least I didn't. I got 6 out of 7 signs so I'd probably say I am an art witch even if my art "sucks" right now...but I am turning to everyone in my mind and telling them I CAN do art
Love Love Love this! Thank you Molly for making this.My inner child is jumping up and down with excitement at the thought of all the baby art witches that discover this!💚💚💚🙏🔥🔥
Thank you for all you've shared over the years! I've been subscribed to you for about six years now and it's been fantastic seeing you again after all the years
I truly appreciate you and your channel. This is so affirming for my path in art and combining it with my witchcraft. Thank you for all that you do! 💖🌈
I never never heard of being an Art Witch, but it calls to me. Where would I find information on becoming an art witch? I have loved art since I was a very young girl.
This was a wonderful video, in the last week I have felt incredibly drawn towards researching pagan/wiccan ways, I have been on the fringe since my teens but never actively practiced so I'm currently deep diving into what my values are and what path or how my pagan practice may start and i know Art and creativity will be a massive part of it. Thank you X
Your comment really resonated with me. Also on the fringe for as long as I can remember, I have found myself seeking and researching. I wish you well in your quest.
i'm so glad you're still making videos :D i watch your vid on how to rock my grimoire any time I'm feeling down about my practice, and it never fails to lift me back up! you've got so much to share and teach and i hope you're doing great out there!
I have the desire to create, but what I feel is holding me back is the feeling of being judged by expressing myself not just in my craft or work, but what I wear or how I live my life.
Dude! Do you really need to call me out 6 out of 7 times?! Lol. # 6 is the only one here that I don't fully identify with here only because the development of my skill at what I do has become a means of tracking my development as a witch. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have NEVER been this early HELL YEAH On a more serious note, how can I more actively be an art witch? I have severe ADHD and can’t sit to do art for more than 15 minutes, which really frustrates me. I used to be able to do art for hours on end. I love making my book of shadows all pretty and artsy but I just can’t focus. I feel like I’m meant to be an art witch but don’t know how to translate that into my life with ADHD and depression that constantly stops me.
I feel for you because I think I've been exactly where you are and I am only now starting to feel connected to my creativity again! Forgive the long post, but your plea really resonated with me, I hope you find this helpful!!
Let me know if this sounds familiar to you:
You USED to tap into your creativity at any place or moment. You did it while multitasking such as while watching TV or videos, or while you were hanging out with friends, etc. You never really had a special place to do your art, instead you carry your project around with you everywhere in the hopes that inspiration strikes you like it used to.
As a person with ADD myself, I felt proud of my ability to "multitask" by drawing and painting while watching TV or when I would see my friends. But As I grow older, I notice I don't have the same attention span and surrounding myself with distractions only makes me more miserable. So I’ve been slowly trying to practice doing one thing at a time…Mindfully! And I know... ADD and ADHD makes that feel impossible! But I believe it's a muscle that needs to be practiced! Even 5 minutes of something done with my full attention is better than nothing! And I promise, the more you practice, the better you will get at redirecting your attention to the things that matter most to you!
My latest discovery in the practice of focusing my attention has been to create a physical space for it to pool towards! Kind of like casting a circle if you are familiar with the magical practice. You don't need to have a permanent space like a studio or anything like that. I use my kitchen table, which is used for plenty of other activities. I try to keep it as clear from clutter as possible when it is not used and only have one project on it at a time when it is.
Here are the steps I've been using to allow myself to get back to my creativity: 1 - Carve out a time frame, it can be as small as 15 minutes. The key element is to have it free of any other obligations. This time is for you and your chosen project! 2 - Find a surface to use, making sure it has plenty of space to lay out your supplies and is well lit. Having proper lighting has also been key in keeping my focus on the task at hand. 3 - If the surface is cluttered, clear out anything that does not need to be there for the time being. 4 - If you plan on doing projects in this space often, maybe storing the unnecessary items into a tray can be an efficient way to quickly clear out the space every time you need it. 5- You can then set the mood by laying down your supplies in a pleasing display, putting music on or lighting a candle. 6- Finally, Draw/Paint/Carve/Sculpt your first stroke!
If you struggle with blank page syndrome, Try playing with your medium of choice on a scrap of paper by doodling or mixing colours. Anything to get you out of the fear of the blank page!
Try to avoid having any "mood setting" that would visually distract you, such as videos. Unless they are used to learn the creative craft at hand, they only serve as a distraction. If information is crucial to the execution of your project, try looking for books at your local library instead. I find paper books have a calming energy that digital ones do not!
Also, you can check out the Pomodoro Technique if you have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time! I use 15 minute of work and 5 minute break increments when I feel particularly scatered and it really helps me to get into a more focused place. It eventually allows me to increese the increments uninturepted focus to 30 minutes and even an 1h of applied work later in the day! And finally... no matter what you do... TURN OFF AUTOPLAY on UA-cam if you have not done so already!! It changed my life! I wish you joy on your journey to a more creative and focused life!! Cheers from one distracted witch to another!
@@rosaliemantion6341 great advice!!! One thing that I know that makes a HUGE difference for me is to have my own space where no one can touch my stuff and I can leave it out and come back to it and ever is right where it was before. Clean up afterwards is good to do obviously, but cleaning up but leaving still leaving your supplies accessible is helpful, meaning when I pack everything up completely because I’m not out in my studio and work at my kitchen table, I have a much harder time starting especially if I’m short on time because I have to start over and pull everything I need out and set it up. When I’m out in my studio to work, I’m less distracted because everything is where it should be and right where I left it and I can just pick up where I left off.
When I was in 1st grade, the teacher handed out coloring sheets which was a Christmas tree with ornaments, and told us to color them because they would be hung in the hall outside the door for our parents to see. I colored the tree and ornaments, also drew and colored in some gifts under the tree, made the background black with stars for a night sky. We all turned in our coloring sheets.....but the teacher made me do another one "the normal way" because she couldn't "have one sticking out like a sore thumb when the parents come to look at them". She balled up and threw away the one I had poured my heart into and made the way I wanted to. If kids somehow could have teachers like you who inspire the creative spark in children instead of being horrified of it and stomping it out, the world would be a much better place.
Can you be an art witch if you have zero artistic ability? The most I can manage is coloring books. I used to make music and sing but brain injury has taken that away from me. I took up hot glue painting for a bit and my first piece of work got a lot of compliments but then I never did it again. I also made voodoo dolls but I don’t feel like my art is good enough to sell. I do gelli plate prints and stuff but still don’t feel like the others would appreciate my splatter Magick.
What's an "art witch" I have been a witch a little over 40yrs now. That's a new term for me. Most Witches I have met are very creative artistic people to begin with. So please define art witch

Same here! On all points!
Me too, I had an evil auntie
Drawing has really been the one main thing ive always been good at more than anything ive ever tried that and music
The maniacal laughing after both “does not like authority” & “does not like rules” 🤣🥰🤣🥰🤣🥰

All of this list was so me.
Thank you.
Oh my! Number 3 for me! My partner will say, “Did you make any art today? I can tell you didn’t.”
I love that you first say that you can be anything you want. Beautiful!!
You always make me smile because your spirit is play, explore and create. I love your ✨ ❇ 💖 sparkle.

I have always loved creating things in so many different items but always worried it wasnt good enough. But I'm so glad that I can be an art witch from a beginner art witch

Yes you have just described me, that was an amazing feeling
Born, living, and with the intent to keep creating as I just can't not create
“Sign number 5: You don’t like rules…😂😂😂…that’s all I got for that one!”
Yup! That one is pretty much self explanatory!
🤣🤣🤣🤣

I never knew what specific witch that I was to describe myself until now, & I've been a witch for almost 2 years! Thank you!
Yes!!!! I am an art witch. Thank you for making this video which provides knowledge and validation around this. ❤

Loved this video! It spoke to my inner teacher:) Thank you Molly!!!! I hope you have a beautiful Yule season🎄
Always happy to see you again on my feed Molly! Lovely video.
I have the desire to create, but what I feel is holding me back is the feeling of being judged by expressing myself not just in my craft or work, but what I wear or how I live my life.
Thank you for this video!! It was fun but also such a great reminder and uplifting message 😊 also congrats on your Oracle deck!!!
Sounds like me lol. I love ur hair!!
I can honestly say I was born to be an art witch! Every sign is me!
You have a beautiful soft voice your hair is gorgeous love you molly you are a sweetheart

Describes me to a tee!

What's an "art witch"
I have been a witch a little over 40yrs now. That's a new term for me.
Most Witches I have met are very creative artistic people to begin with.
So please define art witch
I'm definitely an art witch💗🥰☺️
